You can set only CFLAGS and not CPPFLAGS. But I suspect that you need to
set LDFLAGS too so that even linker knows where to look for the library.
Also, there is config.log which should display the exact error which

CentOS rpm versioning
Hello
Clair vulnerability scanner considers the latest version of CentOS mariadb
vulnerable, because of RHSA-2019:3708
It states, that mariadb must be updated at least to the version
"10.3.17-1.module+el8.1.0+3974+90eded84". CentOS' last version is
"10.3.17-1.module_el8.1.0+257+48736ea6". Rpm/yum considers CentOS' version
older, than RHEL's.

compiling fedora srpm on CentOS
I tried installing fedora grpc srpm on CentOS and ran into following error
when installing srpm. I understand fedora makes use of more recent versions
of openssl, glibc etc but why should this happen when installing source rpm?
Any pointers/articles on how to go about building fedora srpms on CentOS?
Any way out other than building directly using sources?

Connecting a VM to an existing OVS bridge
Hi,
I have an existing OVS bridge, that I can see in ovs-vsctl and use
for other purposes.
I've edited the machine's XML as instructed in
http://docs.openvswitch.org/en/latest/howto/libvirt/
When I try to start the VM, i get
error: Cannot get interface MTU on 'ovsbr': No such device
Any ideas?
(Note: I can't see the ovs switch in brctl show or any other regular
kernel tool,

CentOS 8: several packages have unresolved dependencies after "dnf update all "
All,
While updating my package using dnf update all I allow dnf to clean some
package with unresolved dependencies.
I would like to reinstall some of them but got an error message "but none
of the providers can be installed" during the install process as dnf is
trying to install the dependencies.
.
This happens for some critical package like boost-openmpi-devel (see

Missing packages in centos8 mirrors or do I miss something?
Hi,
I need to port OSCAR Cluster and SystemImager softwares to centos8, but I miss a lot of package that seems to be built for centos-8.
For example, I cant find docbook-utils and docbook-utls-pdf while I see them here: https://koji.mbox.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=651
I?ve installed epel-release and elrepo-release and centos-release-stream.
Do I miss something or is it a matter of time

Compress::Raw::Zlib no longer installed with Perl on Fedora 30?
I can confirm:
[spot at localhost ~]$ rpm -q perl --requires |grep Zlib
perl-Compress-Raw-Zlib
perl-IO-Zlib
[spot at localhost ~]$ rpm -q perl
perl-5.28.2-436.fc30.x86_64
It would require either notable human intervention (or a canceled
mid-upgrade state) for a Fedora 30 system to end up with perl, but not
perl-Compress-Raw-Zlib.
Thanks,
Tom

C8 Questions
Hi all,
I've several questions about C8. I'm using 8 on my personal NAS and
works very well. I'm running several VMs with centos 8 and noticed
something:
1) Why corosync, pacemaker and pcs are missing on C8? They are only
available on rhel with payments( rhel ha addons)?
2) Why there is only Gnome as available DE? I use centos on my
workstation and I'm a kde-plasma user. XFCE

Compress::Raw::Zlib no longer installed with Perl on Fedora 30?
Hi,
I had an issue report from a user of my WriteXLS CRAN package indicating that Compress::Raw::Zlib is apparently not installed by default with Perl on Fedora 30.
Since this appears to be a new issue, I am wondering if one of the Fedora maintainers on this list can confirm this and perhaps when the change may have occurred.
If this is correct and not a Perl installation issue or other error,

xvidtune powertools CentOS 8
Hi All - I was looking all over for xvidtune on Centos 8.
could not find it.
tried yum provides "*/xvidtune"
tried yum search xvidtune
Google pointed me to:
https://centos.pkgs.org/8/centos-powertools-x86_64/xorg-x11-apps-7.7-21.el8.x86_64.rpm.html
So I installed the apps and of course xvidtune is part of that.
However just curious why the provides or search did not point me there ?
