windows 7 machine account fails to authenticate against samba PDC
Hello all, I've added my windows7 client to the domain (samba running as pdc), having applied the registry changes identified here (http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7). Partial success - domain users can login and see shares etc, BUT: 1 - the registry settings in ntlogon/NTConfig.POL are not applied. Am I right in thinking that windows 7 ignores this policy? And if so I therefore

Why "discard":"unmap" is the default option for disks
Hello, I find "discard":"unmap" is defaultly enabled in qemu cmdline(libvirt v6.6, qemu v5.1): XML: <disk type="file" device="disk"> <driver name="qemu" type="qcow2"/> <source file="/var/lib/libvirt/images/new.qcow2" index="2"/> <backingStore/> <target

Access to Samba-Shares with "sign communications = mandatory"
Hello Samba-Specialists, which smb.conf-options do I have to set to get access to a Samba-Share from a Windows7-Machine, if the Windows7-Machine is very restrictive configured regarding 'smb-signing'? Windows7-Configuration: Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (if server agrees): Enabled Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always): Enabled

scsi passthrough differs between guests
Greetings, I have two machines running the same distro, both running qemu 5.1.0, one runs libvirt 6.7.0, the other 6.8.0. I've decided to test the viability of passing through my sata cdrom into a vm, so I went to the libvirt docs, read a bit and added the following to a debian10 uefi vm running on libvirt 6.8.0: <controller type='scsi' index='0'

windows7 and samba 3.4.7 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Is there a specific way of doing the smb.conf to make windows7 join the domain? was able to make windows7 join in one instance but when is not successful in logging into the domain using a domain user and also cannot add a domain user to the local machine. From my initial attempts, I was able to join the win7 machine but after I upgraded to 3.4.7 everything seems to have gone to hell.

Vista guest doesn't start after libvirt upgrade
Hi, I've updated my Debian lenny to Debian squeeze last week. So I have now: libvirt 0.8.3-5 qemu-kvm 0.12.5+dfsg-3 virt-manager 0.8.4-8 Today I try to start my Vista quest again. I am surprised because it won't starts. In "/var/log/libvirt/qemu/devel-vista.log" stands "Read failed". The Console stays as a black screen after a short SeaBIOS message. I tried

Help needed with Windows7 roaming files.
Hi all, We've been trying to setup/upgrade a samba PDC (version 3.56) with OpenLDAP as backend and roaming profiles for Windows7 (32bit) Clients. windows7 has no problem with login after applying the reg patches, however, it seems to always load a temporary profile as opposed to roaming one for users, no local profile is created. this has caused Outlook 2010 to function improperly

Re: Does Libvirt's json parser support single quoted string in qmp json string?
Hi Peter Krempa, Thanks for your quick response, yes, I know since libvirt 5.8, the -blockdev is used for disk by default. However we have to maintain the old releases for the production environment for a while, so I still need use the old way to create the disk. >"base" argument must be a string. this means you need double quotes in >JSON ("). Windows GPLPV xenvbd.sys BSOD
Hi, During the install of the univention.de-signed GPLPV drivers (gplpv_Vista2008x64_signed_0.11.0.308.msi) on my Windows 7 guest, I get a BSOD "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" in xenvbd.sys. Afterwards, Windows won''t start. I''m now trying to do a System Restore. I will try not installing the VBD driver afterwards and see if the others do work. Full BSOD:

Windows 7 and a Samba PDC?
Hi, I would be extremely grateful if you could cast your eye over my problem with getting Windows 7 PC back onto on a Samba domain? I have the current version from lenny-backports: 2:3.4.8~dfsg-2~bpo50+1, the client is windows 7 Ultimate. logins and profiles and nelogon scripts all seemed to work back in Feb 2010 using the instructions here: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 However

samba 4 and roaming profiles
I've just setup a samba4 system (zentyal) to act as authentication and file server in a mixed lan (windows and linux clients). The problem is that my linux pcs and windows winxp clients point to a "username" folder on the server, while the windows7 clients point to a "username.V2" folder. This is an issue due to the different types of roaming profiles in different

Virtualbox vdi Input Format and man pages
Hi, I am new to v2v/libguestfs. I need to convert a 30 GB virtual machine running Windows7 64 bit (a guest on a Linux system) from Virtualbox vdi format to qcow2 (or raw/img--another debate in itself) so I can use libvirt/qemu/kvm to run it and completely migrate away from Virtualbox. The vdi machine is a mission critical production environment and I cannot afford to mess it up, etc. Will keep

Samba4 and files downloaded from Internet
Hi all, I am new to Samba4 so sorry if my first question is "stupid". We have some Windows7 computers at our office and i decided to give Samba4 a try. Did follow: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO No big problem, some hours later I had a Windows7 box joined to the Samba4 domain and a user logged in, did create some text documents on the users desktop, logged out and saw

resolve KDC network address error
Hello Samba-List-Users I have a problem with KDC network name resolution. I tried to google it and sought help on IRC#samba, to no avail. So I'll post my problem here. In the spirit of privacy and normalization all server names in this post are replaced. CAPTIAL server names are actually capitalized in the configuration files.
