Confused setting up a "Virtual Server Hosting" config
Hi list, Can anyone advise me on the correct/best set up for Virtual Server Hosting? I have a guest in my server room wish to migrate to dedicated server I rented in an offsite in a data centre.  I rented a box with one NIC and one public IP.  I installed KVM on it and a guest. (both Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server edition).  I am struggling to get the networking right. Essentially I want the

Virtualization Networking
Hello, I'm a little confused on which networking option I need to choose when setting up a VM. I set up two VMs this past weekend both with NAT. Both able to were access the internet. The first one, I created in my / file system but didn't really have the space so I deleted it. The second one, I created in /home/kvm, but deleted it as well when I couldn't access it FROM the

Mapping physical interface to a container
In the "other" LXC project (linuxcontainers.org), you can map a host's physical ethernet interface to a container, e.g. lxc.network.type = phys lxc.network.flags = up lxc.network.link = eth1 lxc.network.name = eth1 Is there an equivalent option for doing this with libvirt lxc? Peter

Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Hi, I'm not sure what sort of diagram you mean, but I'll have a try. Does this help? It sounds like I need to do something to enable routing on what I've labelled "NIC3" on the diagram - can you please explain what I need to do? Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Hi Ajey, I thought I already was doing bridge mode. Below are the network interface definitions from the XML config file for the Sophos VM. (Note that it's actually the middle definition which is connected to the cable modem which is different to how I showed it in the earlier diagram). What I don't understand is that the interface type says "direct" in the XML even though in

Re: Oracle RAC in libvirt+KVM environment
Hi all, I found a article about Hyper-V virtual Fiber Channel, I think this will make Failover Cluster work if KVM has the same feature. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831413.aspx Hyper-V uses NPIV for virtual Fiber Channel, I have read some article about KVM NPIV, but how can I config it with libvirt? Any body can show me some example? On Wed, Aug 14, 2013 at 2:33 PM, Timon Wang

Re: Need help with [virt net-create]
Thanks Daniel. Why was I trying to do something like this ? Two reasons 1. I was referring to ( Figure 18.4. Virtual network switch running dnsmasq) https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html-single/Virtualization_Administration_Guide/index.html#sect-network-protocols that appears to be two virtual nics sharing the same IP range .. !!! 2. was

Connect libvirt to iSCSI target
Hi! I'm new to libvirt and face problems connecting to an iSCSI target. What I intend to do is to connect libvirt (I tried virt-manager and virsh) to an iSCSI target and then boot from the LUNs which contain the VMs. I followed the documentation¹ but got stuck at section 12.1.5.4.3. 1) virsh pool-define-as \ --name foo \ --type iscsi

Re: Libguestfs Hangs on CentOS 7.4
(1) This made no difference. It still hangs around the same place. (2) It wasn't enabled in the kernel so i enabled it. I then rebooted but unfortunately it made no difference. If you want access to a hypervisor to have a play around, let me know. The only information i really have is that if i installed CentOS 7.3 on this hypervisor it works fine. Active Record HELP!!!!!
Hello, Can someone kindly tell what the heck creating a relationship does in active record? I understand the idea of joining the tables and such. But how do I use it? Is it available in a scaffold? How about when I want to view a record and want to see all the joined data from the other table? Do I have to manually code the data I want from the other table? Does this automatically make the

mounting lvm2
CentOS 7 for everything I am probably never using lvm again. I have never not once actually benefited from its capabilities but this is probably the third or fourth time it has gotten in my way. Issue is that I use the tools so rarely that I can't recall what needs to be done to properly mount the drives on another system and finding that info on the web is becoming more difficult as the

Locking for Linux/WinXP clients (-or- CIFS issues)
Hi... I've been running samba 3.0 for quite some time now (Debian's stable version, currently 3.0.14) and I've had no problems. That's probably been because all my clients were Windows XP boxes. I've now moved several users to Linux (Ubuntu Breezy) as their desktop and I've noticed there seems to be a problem in accessing files across the platforms. If a Linux box

Meaning of LND/neterrors ?
Hello I''ve noticed that Lustre network error, especially LND errors, are considered as maskable errors. That means that on a production node, where debug mask is 0, those specific errors won''t be displayed if they happened. Does that mean that they are harmless? Do upper-layers resend their RPC/packet if LNDs report an error? When, in my case, o2iblnd says something like
