SharpEye: www.visiv.co.uk
I have been running SharpEye under Wine for a few weeks now. There
are a couple of problems
1) The fonts don't always appear correct. Sometimes they correctly show as
Arial, sometimes as SmallCaps
2) Can't get TWAIN to work - see earlier message
3) The pull down menus display as XMFile etc. instead of File etc. The author
of SharpEye says this is a bug in Wine.

Need help to get LCDHype flying with Parallel-Port
Hello together,
i want to run LCDHype in Linux under wine, because there is no adequate other program that supports graphically LCD-Displays.
I already opened a discussion in the forum of LCDHype (sorry - is in german language):
http://lcdhype.condense.de/index.php?showtopic=4963
I already found an older version (V 0.6) of LCDHype that installs and the frontend is up and running.
But now i am

Optical Mark Recognition
Hey all,
Has anyone ever altered an R package for image analysis to do optical mark
recognition? I'm trying to find a way to semi-automate data entry of
several thousand paper health surveys that are predominantly composed of
check boxes. All the boxes are uniform size and shape, so it seems as if
it should be possible to alter a package to recognize the boxes and output
a 0 or 1 to

Use client driver
Good day everyone,
Just a quick question. When using Samba 2.2.7a and Cups 1.17 or 1.18, is it
good or bad to use "Use client driver" as a share setting on the Printers
share? I used it with LPD, but I'm not real sure it's necessary with cups.
Thanks in advance

Issue with Hamlet ISDN PCI card(Cologne Chipset)
Hi everybody
I have installed a TrixBox with Asterisk 1.2.14 and relative upgreaded
software.
I Bristuffed it with last version of bristuff to use a Hemlet PCI ISDN CARD
in a normal Italian EUROISDN installation. The * works fine except for the
ISDN CARD. It is always Channel D down, but if a Call comes in, it works
perfectly for some time, both inbound and outbound. It prompts Channel D UP!

discriminant function analysis in R
Dear R Users,
I'm very very interested in learning how to use R to carry out a
classification of data using discriminant function analysis. I've
found the MASS package and the lda function, but the examples in the
help system are a bit over my head. I'm not exactly sure how to
interpret the output, for example, of if the inputs I've chosen are
best suited to my needs.

Name conflicts when passing arguments for one function to another
I am fairly new to R. I find it surprising that
f <- function(x,a) {x-a}
uniroot(f, c(0,1), a=.5)
works, but
integrate(f, 0, 1, a=.5)
gives an error: Error in integrate(f, 0, 1, a = 0.5) : argument 4
matches multiple formal arguments
What is the best way of avoiding such surprises? Is there a way of
telling integrate() that the 'a' argument is for f()?

pre-/postexec in printers-section
Hi,
after updating our printserver from Samba V2.0.6 to V2.2.7 I encountered the
following problem.
Samba does not execute the (root) pre- and postexec within the printers
section.
If you are using these command in another section everything works fine.
Does anybody know if these command are not supported in the printers section
anymore?
smb.conf:

CUPs and Samba and XP
Hullo All.
The preamble.... Samba 2.2.7a compiled against CUPS, CUPs v 1.1.6 (version
that came with Mandrake 9.0), using client side drivers (raw printing) on
XP.
Printing works, cancelling jobs via the web interface works after the
spooling is done. What doesn't work. Pausing jobs (though that's not as
important as the next trouble) and cancelling jobs from XP. If I cancel a
job by

Optical Drive is not recognized by wine
I just installed Wine ver. 1.2.2 on a Ubuntu 10.10 powered laptop HP dv6000. Linux sees the optical drive but Wine does not offer it as a source for installing the software. I copied the contents of a Photoshop installation disk to the hard drive and started a wine install but the installation was stopped when I could not provide an earlier version of the software by the CD/DVD drive (the new PS

Problem with exported Optical Drive
Hi,
I'm using Samba quiet a while and never had a problem I couldn't solve
for myself. Now I've got one :) Everytime I write files > 30 MB on my
exported Fujitsu M2513A Windows is terminating with "Network share is
no longer available". The Windows progress indicator shows nothing, but
the file is written and then discarded (after the error message) !
Now I've set the

LLVMLinkModules2() C-API question
Hey all,
A quick question about the LLVM C-Api and using LinkModules. In a normal
situation where I have 2 LLVM modules and 1 depends on the other using
LLVMLinkModules2() works perfectly.
LLVMLinkModules2() "Links the source module into the destination module.
The source module is destroyed." according to the comment of the function.
That is all fine when you only have 2 modules.

How to access optical drive (cd, dvd)?
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem accessing my optical (CD/DVD) drive under WINE. What I would like to do is access it "directly" through WINE, i.e. whenever I insert a CD or DVD, I'd like WINE to detect it under it's E:\ (or D: or whatever) drive.
However, I don't know how to set this up (and even whether it's possible, but I suppose it is). My CD/DVD drive is
