PCI passthrough fails in virsh: iommu group is not viable
I would really appreciate some pointers on what I am doing wrong here.
I have a need to run multiple virtual guests which have each their own GPU and
some USB controllers passed-through. I am able to run one of the guests like
this (assuming vfio stuff has happened elsewhere), but I would prefer to use
virsh:
kvm -M q35 -m 8192 -cpu host,kvm=off \
-smp 4,sockets=1,cores=4,threads=1 \
-bios

SR-IOV Pool Availability
If I'm using the SR-IOV Pool assignment method (from
http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Assignment_from_a_pool_of_SRIOV_VFs_in_a_libvirt_.3Cnetwork.3E_definition
), how would I check how many virtual functions are already in use?
Is there a method other then looping through all the active guests and
determining if they're using the SR-IOV interface?

Guests can't connect to each other
Hi,
I'm using libvirt and qemu on Debian Wheezy. I'm having a strange
behavior. Guests can't connect to each other when they're on the same
host.
On the host I'm using bonding (in active / backup mode) and vlan. It
looks like this :
eth0 \ / macvtap0
bond0 --- vlan222
eth1 / \ macvtap1
So I've got two guests, let's say A and B. When

Re: Need to increase the rx and tx buffer size of my interface
Hi Ashish,
I have tested with your xml in the first mail, and it works for
rx_queue_size(see
below).
multiqueue need to work with vhost backend driver. And when you set
"queues=1" it will ignored.
Please check your qemu-kvm-rhev package, should be newer than
qemu-kvm-rhev-2.9.0-16.el7_4.2
And the logs?
tx_queue_size='512' will not work in the guest with direct type interface,

Re: F20 Virt-Manager with MacVTap not working
The guest was setup through virt-manager. The machine is not configured
much after a F20 install (I believe I didn't change any network things)
Here is the network part:
<interface type='direct'>
<mac address='52:54:00:fe:b0:66'/>
<source dev='em1' mode='bridge'/>
<target dev='macvtap0'/>

proper config for qemu's host_cdrom
Greetings,
I was wondering what is the proper way to configure a scsi cdrom pass-through so in when the qemu line is generated, host_Cdrom will be used instead of host_device.
looking at https://gitlab.com/libvirt/libvirt/-/blob/master/src/qemu/qemu_block.c#L1090, I see that hostcdrom must be true.
in order for that to be true, the following must be (see

macvtap vlan and tcp header overhead (and mtu size)
I have a host setup for libvirt kvm/qemu vms. And I wonder a bit about
the overhead of the macvtap and how to configure the mtu's properly. To
be able to communicate with the host, I have moved the ip address of the
host from the adapter to a macvtap to allow host communication.
I have the below setup on hosts.

script called from qemu hook freezes.
Greetings,
I'm executing an external script when the qemu hook is called with start or release, the script is rather simple, upon start it iterates over the output of lsusb -t and for each device, it looks if it should be added to the vm we started, if so, it attaches it to the vm as follows:
virsh --connect qemu:///system "${cmd}" "${domain}" /dev/stdin << END

Privacy Extension not working in VM
Hello @ all
With the rebuilding of my Server from Debian 9 to Debian 10, I also
switch from Virtual Box to Libvirt/KVM. Due to new requirements for the
VMs, now I have an actual problem, which unfortunately I can not solve.
The problem has already been discussed in the German Debian-Forum ...
unfortunately also without success.
The facts:
- ISP = Dual Stack with daily separation

Network inoperable with QEMU arm example image
I am running Fedora 16 64bit and installed libvirt. I have the VM
running with arm emulation with this one issue I can't figure out. I
used Virtual Machine Manager to manage the VM and can access its console
there. The Ethernet appears to be eth1 and the guest can set an IP on
it etc. However, I cannot see any traffic from the Host when dumping
any of the interfaces. I've tried

CentOS 6 KVM networking: What am I missing???
OK, I have a strange problem. It is probably something simple/stupid, but I
cannot figure it out.
I have a nice new PowerEdge T20 that I installed CentOS 6 (6.5) on with
Virtualization (KVM). I then installed Ubuntu 14.04 in a virtual machine,
with a bridged network:

Re: PCI/GPU Passthrough with xen
I know these are mostly gamers but they have a lot of experience doing
PCI pass though: https://discord.gg/du9ecG
I have found them extremely helpful in the past doing libvirt PCI
passthough.
