Re: Cannot Write xvga=yes in xml file
Yes, I can use guest with this way, But when i hot-add my graphics card , Guest will reboot. So i want to try it with <hostdev>. Somehow , If i use "hostdev" without xvga , my screen will be black. If we have no hostdev, do you have other methods can help me to use hot-plug my graphics card? At 2018-01-04 23:27:52, "Laine Stump" <laine@redhat.com> wrote:

Re: PCI/GPU Passthrough with xen
I know these are mostly gamers but they have a lot of experience doing PCI pass though: https://discord.gg/du9ecG I have found them extremely helpful in the past doing libvirt PCI passthough. *Paul O'Rorke* On 2020-02-05 10:13 a.m., Jim Fehlig wrote: > On 2/4/20 1:04 AM, Christoph wrote: >> this config does not work... why? > > Without more details, I don't know why

sr-iov on Intel 82576 and rhel 7 - would not work
hi everybody a windows kvm guest would not start, process gets killed with: Out of memory: Kill process 21984 (qemu-kvm) score 44 or sacrifice child I really don't know where/what I might be missing, config seems fine, everything looks ok - I only am not sure, do I need to first stub a SR-IOV device like regular passthrough? I'm trying sr-iov, having one NIC left to the host and the

[libvirt] SRIOV configuration
Hello, We encountered a problem while testing SRIOV on kubevirt [1]: We are currently using the Device "hostdev" generic options to pass-through the VF to the guest. It is not done through the "interface" (with type hostdev) because that option requires access to the PF which is not available in our case (the VF is moved to the container namespace where libvirt runs, but not

Re: [libvirt] Add support for vhost-user-scsi-pci/vhost-user-blk-pci
Hi Cole & Michal, I'm sorry for my late response, I just end my journey today. Thank your response, your suggestion is very helpful to me. I have added Michal in this mail, Michal helps me review my initial patchset. (https://www.spinics.net/linux/fedora/libvir/msg191339.html) All concern about this feature is the XML design. My original XML design exposes more details of Qemu.

SR-IOV: no traffic isolation between VFs with Broadcom 10Gbps cards
Hi all, I'm testing on debian/unstable SR-IOV feature with Broadcom BCM57810 cards and KVM hypervisor: Compiled against library: libvirt 1.2.1 Using library: libvirt 1.2.1 Using API: QEMU 1.2.1 Running hypervisor: QEMU 1.7.0 bnx2x -> firmware 7.8.17 -> driver from kernel 3.12.7 8 VFs are created on the first PF. For each VF, a specific mac address is set manually using "ip

cannot start domain with SR-IOV interface
Hi, I've been using libvirt (versions 0.9.11.5, and recently upgraded to 0.10.2), and have been attaching an SR-IOV VF to my VM with the following device configuration: <hostdev mode='subsystem' type='pci' managed='yes'> <source> <address domain='0x0000' bus='0x07' slot='0x10' function='0x0'/>

SR-IOV Pool Availability
If I'm using the SR-IOV Pool assignment method (from http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Assignment_from_a_pool_of_SRIOV_VFs_in_a_libvirt_.3Cnetwork.3E_definition ), how would I check how many virtual functions are already in use? Is there a method other then looping through all the active guests and determining if they're using the SR-IOV interface?

connecting host and guest vm using a dummy nic
Greetings all, I have a host machine that runs a router within a vm. I want to allow a connection between the host and the guest so the host can connect to the lan provided by the router vm. I've created a dummy interface with these commands: $ ip link add ens99-dummy type dummy $ ip link set ens99-dummy address 52:54:00:1f:d0:ff this resulted with this output: $ ifconfig ens99-dummy

Using hostdev to plug a PCI-E host device into Q35 pcie-root port
Hello, I'm trying to migrate a working qemu command line configuration to libvirt. The part I'm currently failing on is: $ qemu-system-x86_64 -M Q35 ... -device vfio-pci,host=05:00.0,bus=pcie.0 The right way to translate this into libvirt XML seems to be using <hostdev>, but I seem to be unable to plug it into the pcie-root port This is how the interesting part looks like when

automatically detaching PCI host devices from guest for SRIOV usage.
Dear List , We are using intel 82599EB based SRIOV capable 10GbE cards on the host machine. The VFs are being assigned to the guest in pass through mode and are providing the network connectivity as expected. However when we shutdown the guest the connectivity does not comes back via the VFs on the guest in next boot unless the VFs are detached from the *guest* *before* initiating a shutdown of
