Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Do you have some comparasion of IO performance on thin pool vs. qcow2 file on fs? In my case each VM would have its own thin volume. I just want to overcommit disk-space. Re: using LVM thin pool LVs as a storage for libvirt guest
Please don't use lvm thin for vm. In our hosting in Russia we have 100-150 vps on each node with lvm thin pool on ssd and have locks, slowdowns and other bad things because of COW. After we switching to qcow2 files on plain ssd ext4 fs and happy =). 2017-11-04 23:21 GMT+03:00 Jan Hutař <jhutar@redhat.com>: > Hello, > as usual, I'm few years behind trends so I have learned

orphaned snapshots
I?ve never had such situation and I don?t recall someone sharing something similar. Most probably it?s easier to remove the node from the TSP and re-add it.Of course , test the case in VMs just to validate that it?s possible to add a mode to a cluster with snapshots. I have a vague feeling that you will need to delete all snapshots. Best Regards,Strahil Nikolov? On Thursday, August 10, 2023, 4:36

can I convert a linear thin pool to raid1?
In the past, I've used LVM on MD RAID, and I'd like to try using LVM RAID in order to also add dm-integrity data to some LVs.? I've added new PVs to my VG, and I've converted some of my LVs to raid1 types, but I also have one thin pool that I use for VMs with multiple layers of snapshots.? That pool can't be converted, directly: # lvconvert --type raid1 -m 1

ZFS with SSD ZIL vs XFS
Anyone made some performance comparison between XFS and ZFS with ZIL on SSD, in gluster environment ? I've tried to compare both on another SDS (LizardFS) and I haven't seen any tangible performance improvement. Is gluster different ?

lvm cache + qemu-kvm stops working after about 20GB of writes
Hello, I would really appreciate some help/guidance with this problem. First of all sorry for the long message. I would file a bug, but do not know if it is my fault, dm-cache, qemu or (probably) a combination of both. And i can imagine some of you have this setup up and running without problems (or maybe you think it works, just like i did, but it does not): PROBLEM LVM cache writeback

lvconvert(split) - raid10 => raid0
hi guys, gals do you know if conversion from lvm's raid10 to raid0 is possible? I'm fiddling with --splitmirrors but it gets me nowhere. On "takeover" subject man pages says: "..between striped/raid0 and raid10."" but no details, nowhere I could find documentation, nor a howto. many thanks, L.

sftp Batchmode command level error suppression does not work?
Hi guys - OpenSSH sftp (on solaris) >From man page Termination on error can be suppressed on a command by command basis by prefixing the command with a `-' character (for example, -rm /tmp/blah* ). This does not seem to work - instead the server seems to fail to recognize the command from the batchfile. Consider this batchfile mkdir tmp cd tmp put rpt.list bye We want to

Can I use pxelinux to boot a cdrom image or isolinux from pxe?
Greetings, I've been a user and fan of SYSLINUX for a couple of years now. I use PXELINUX for a PXE server. I've only been able to boot linux kernel/initrd images and dos bootdisks, however now I'm wanting to create a boot image for the 'Rescue Is Possible' (RIP) linux recovery disk - http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/ Previous versions came with a

Strange Problem with dm-0
I began an update of one of our servers via yum and, coincidentally or not, I have been getting the following logged into the message file since: messages:Jan 7 15:55:51 inet07 kernel: post_create: setxattr failed, rc=28 (dev=dm-0 ino=280175) Now, this tells me that dev dm-0 is out of space but, what is dm-0? So, can anyone tell me what is happening and why? -- *** E-Mail is

CIFS/ACLs
Hi, I am using CIFS 2.01.01 on HPUX11V2. CIFS is running in ADS security-mode. Winbind is used to map the userers from the W2K3-Domain (german) to an tdb-file. The user mapping works fine, but I have problems with the ACLS: setting the ACLS to a file or folder from windows leads in "access denied". I'm the owner of the object and have full access. The really crazy thing is,

parsing numbers from a string
Dear R-help members, I have several large data sets from certain simulations I did and now I want to plot the results nicely. I don't know anything about the size of the x and y values in advance. Plotting these values is not a problem. However, I want to add errorbars (errbar in the Hmisc package). 1) For this I'm factoring the data (xdata00 varies from 0 to max(xdata00)) xfactor00 =

Lockups ENGT430 (NVc0), failed to unbind.
Twice in a little over a week, nouveau has locked up on my system with an Asus ENGT430 that is "Detected [as] an NVc0 generation card (0x0c1080a1)" at boot time. OS is Mageia 2, kernel 3.4.45-server-1.mga2. At the time of both lockups, I had a couple dozen Firefox windows plus several other miscellaneous windows open. Here are the some snippets from /var/log/messages a few days before

Bug: lvchange delayed until re-boot. System lock up experienced.
Did a search for LVM at the CentOS bugzilla. Nothing seems to match this scenario. If no one contradicts me, I'll also post this in the bug reporting system. Wanted to a) get confirmation, if possible before bugging it and b) warn other souls that may be adventurous too! Summary: failings in LVM and kernel(?) seem to make a "freeze" possible. 1) Lvchange --permission=r seems to
