Adding a VLAN tag to a libvirt SR-IOV VF network using the "virsh net-update" command
Hi all, How do you add a VLAN tag to a libvirt SR-IOV VF network usingthe "virsh net-update" command? I couldn't find the section to passto the "virsh net-update" command to add the VLAN tag. I have the following libvirt network defined for a SR-IOV VF: <network>  <name>GE0-0-SRIOV-1</name>  <uuid>7bc67166-c78e-4bcf-89ee-377dd9086631</uuid>

Forward routed network bridge on system's vlan
Hi all, I created a two node cluster that manages virtual machines with two servers connected via a cross cable on the network 10.0.0.0/24. I want that machines that runs on different servers in the network 172.16.0.0/24 can see all the others. To make this possible I've configured a vlan on each server: ... ... 5: eth1.111 at eth1: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc

blockcommit --pivot does not succeed in conjunction with qemu 5.0.0
Hello one and all. Got a problem with libvirt 6.2.0 and qemu 5.0.0. virsh blockcommit mymachine vda --active --verbose --pivot works until it shows [100%] but it never actually pivots. It just sits there. Is this a known issue with 6.2.0 and i should try 6.3.0? For now i switched back to qemu 4.2.0 and this seems to solve the issue too. Any hints? Ahoi! t.

how to deactivate an active network with virsh? (and what is that anyway)
virsh provides net-start <netname-or-id> to activate an inactive network. Does virsh provide any way to do the exact converse? deactivate an active network without destroying, undefining, removing, ... Also - I am curious - what does activate actually do? What change in state of anything occurs? ( I read the document at http://libvirt.org/formatnetwork.html which

KVM-Docker-Networking using TAP and MACVLAN
Hi everyone! I have the following requirement: I need to connect a set of Docker containers to a KVM. The containers shall be isolated in a way that they cannot communicate to each other without going through the KVM, which will act as router/firewall. For this, I thought about the following simple setup (as opposed to a more complex one involving a bridge with vlan_filtering and a seperate VLAN

python-libvirt domain.destroy() doesn't appear to be working for me
I'm using the python-libvirt library and finding that I cannot get .destroy() or .shutdown() to work. https://github.com/simora/docker-libvirt-flask/blob/cba6041b47bdf4ccb3b9506a0379cf8c788a9a57/root/app/mqtt.py#L96 That is the line in my code. .create() works fine and using virsh in the docker container works fine to destroy the domain as well. This is based on ubuntu bionic in a docker

network bridge hairpin parameter support
Hi: Currently we encounter a problem where OpenStack may forget or misconfig the bridge hairpin setting, and will cause some unexpected behavior [1]. Although this bug is marked fixed, but if we manually restart the vm by virsh will also trigger the problem. And because the bridge interface is created and managed by libvirt, we are considering move the hairpin configuration to libvirt.

Set a domain name instead of an ip address into tls certificate
I tried to set cn=myMachine instead of cn=192.168.1.x and...everything frezees! virsh -c qemu://.../system tries to connect forever. You really need static ip addresses in the cn field?? I think this is an HUGE bug: you are saying to me that each time I change network or ip (because, dear sirs, dhcp exists) I have to generate a whole new couple of certificates?? I hope it is not the case....

Network/bridge questions
Hi, I have an fc14 install and would like to install a few kvm guests but am having difficulty with the networking. On the host I have disabled NetworkManager and configured a bridge which has eth0, the only physical interface on the server. I have a dhcp server on the local lan, and if I add a mac address entry to my dhcpd.conf, the guest will find an IP from there. I think somehow the guest

error configuring a public bridge --> uvt-kvm: error: libvirt domain 'newtest' has no NIC MACs available.
Hi all, First at all, excuse if this is not the right place for sending this email. I'm using ubuntu 14.04 server edition and i'm trying to deploy some virtual machines in a server in such a way that they are visible in the same network that the host machine. The tools I'm using are the uvtool package and libvirt. The error I'm getting is the following: "uvt-kvm: error:

Re: virsh dominfo does not show correct cpuTime
I was getting vCPU use time outside of guest with libvirt-python API, and them calculate utilization with (cpuTime2 - cpuTime1) / (t2 - t1). I was not doing this inside the guest os. 2015-07-24 15:09 GMT+08:00 2020human <human2020@qq.com>: > You calculate is vCPU use time not utilization。 > > use_time/total_cpu_time is utilization。 > > total_cpu_time=`cat /proc/stat |sed -n

libvirt problems. Create bridged network via cmdline?
Hello! I've faced a weird problem. And I totally can't understand how libvirt handles networks. The thing that i need to do is simple. I create a bridge in my ubuntu host, the following config: *iface eth0 inet manual* * * *auto br0* *iface br0 inet dhcp* * bridge_ports eth0* * bridge_stp on* * bridge_maxwait 0* That's OK, and my bridge turns up automatically. But I don't
