How allocate ip for guest in xml file

But some release system no install NetworkManager, or some installed system no install NetworkManager, so when I manager those guest, I cann't allocate IP for guest via dhcp

starting lxcs from within a vm using libvirt
my goal for testing/simulations is to be able to run a vm on my desktop and within that vm run linux containers
currently I can start an ubuntu trusty vm using libvirt as my broker to qemu or qemu-system-x86_64 directly and start a saucy-based lxc using lxc-tools. I invoke lxc-start -n name -f configfile and within a few seconds I'm logged into my saucy based lxc. I can't start the lxc

LXCs using Libvirt
Hi all,
I am trying to bring up lxc's using Libvirt JAVA API. I do the following:
conn = Connect("lxc:\\\")
xml_config = "<domain> .... <\domain>"
dom = conn.domainCreateXML(xml_config, 0)
dom.create()
Using the above code, I am able to start a domain but the domain is not
visible within the "lxc" list, i.e
when I use the command "lxc-ls

LXC libvirt support
Hi,
Has anyone used libvirt to start/stop/manage LXC (linux containers) ?
Is it supported at all? Last I tried, had few issues and the reply was
:
///
Note that libvirt lxc driver is a different implementation from lxc tools
and doesn't use lxc tools internally. You may not be able to do what
you are doing with lxc tools. Especially, the driver doesn't take aware

libvirt-lxc: good for production?
Dear all,
I'm a happy lxc (lxd) user with a need to add a bunch of KVM images to the
mix. More importantly I need to have some simple frontend to give users the
ability to quickly run some VMs for testing.
Researching the topic brought me to virt-manager and from there libvirt.
I've had however a hard time to answer a few questions that I hope this
list can help me with:
1) is the

[LXC][Openstack] Clarifications needed on usage of libvirt-lxc for openstack
Hi everyone,
I've some doubts regarding the usage/working of libvirt-lxc with openstack.
I'm doing a project titled "Low density virtualization for Storage cloud"
1. Can i use libvirt for lxc with Openstack swift alone (excluding nova,
glance and keystone)? If no what other openstack components should i use
for virtualization? (Is it necessary to install openstack nova to do

libvirt-lxc
Hi,
I noticed that libvirt-lxc will be deprecated for RedHat:
"Future development on the Linux containers framework is now based on
the docker command-line interface. libvirt-lxc tooling may be removed in
a future release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (including Red Hat
Enterprise Linux 7) and should not be relied upon for developing custom
container management applications." -

libvirt and LXC
Hi there,
I'm fairly new to libvirt and LXC, please forgive my ignorance.
I was looking for a graphical tool to manage LXC containers and noticed
that libvirt has support for LXC.
Actually, I expected libvirt to be able to display and manage LXC hosts
much like KVM. But it does not happen this way. The only thing I can see
with virsh/virt-manager is storage pool with LXC containers, but not

libvirt-1.2.2-r1 (Gentoo) fails to start LXC containers
I recently upgraded "libvirt" on Gentoo to 1.2.2-r1 (latest available). I
have not used LXC containers for a few weeks, so I don't recall what
version of libvirt I was using when my container last booted successfully.
Unfortunately, Gentoo's portage tree does not offer any previous versions
of libvirt that I could downgrade to.
TL;DR: My container is configured to use

Failed to access console after launching LXC through libvirt
Hi,
I'm trying to manage LXC instances through OpenStack, which use libvirt as
a virtualization driver layer. After launching LXC instance, I simply could
not attach to the console.

Hotplug of disk devices in LXC failed with libvirt of version 1.0.2
Hi Daniel,
I noticed that the patch "Add support for hotplug/unplug of disk devices in LXC" you wrote had been merged into libvirt of version 1.0.2.
But when I used this function, it report an error with details as following:
ubuntu@lxc:~$ vir attach-device instance-0000002c disk.xml --config
error: Failed to attach device from disk.xml

Getting IP address of a lxc container via libvirt
Hello
I wanted to understand if there is a way to get LXC container's ip address.
- virDomainInterfaceAddresses API only works for qemu/kvm and not with the
lxc driver.
What other options do I have?
Using enter-lxc-namespace is throwing this error:
virsh -c lxc:/// lxc-enter-namespace <domain> --noseclabel /sbin/ifconfig

Unable to start LXC on Gentoo w/ libvirt 1.0.4 or 1.0.5. 1.0.3 works
Hello.
I use libvirtd on my Gentoo development system to manage both QEMU and
LXC. When 1.0.3 came out, I updated to it from 1.0.3-r2, but 1.0.4 failed
to start my LXC containers. I did not research the issue at the time, so I
revert to 1.0.3-r2. Today I updated to 1.0.5 and my LXC containers still
fail to start. I have not changed my domain XML at all.
I am looking for suggestions on

Dynamically setting permanent memory libvirt-lxc
I'm trying to permanently change memory allocation for a libvirt-lxc domain. So far I tried changing memory in memory.limit_in_bytes under /cgroup/memory/libvirt/lxc/<container>/. This didn't help. It appears that libvirt is not reading changes in cgroup.
My requirements are
1) Be able to dynamically change memory of a LXC domain without reboot
2) The memory change must survive

Re: Hotplug of disk devices in LXC failed with libvirt of version 1.0.2
Hi, Gao Feng
I've tried what you said, but still exists the problem:
ubuntu@lxc:~$ vir attach-disk instance-0000002c /dev/dm-0 sdb
error: Failed to attach disk
error: Unable to create device /proc/10366/root/dev/sdb: Permission denied
I think finding what it means by saying 'Unable to create device /proc/10366/root/dev/sdb: Permission denied' is the key.
But anyway, thanks for

libvirt-1.2.17 I can't define lxc container
Hello!
I'd like to set up my first lxc container using libvirt. I'd like to
start using the simplest configuration and next add things I need. So
I've got xml as below:
