Audio in Windows 10 VM is distorted. Using ALSA.
Hi, I can’t seem to find a solution for my last VM issue. I have distorted sound, when I play the Windows 10 device test sound. Only the Windows sound is affected. Mpd of the host is playing just fine meanwhile. I am using ich9 as emulated card, which is detected and installed correctly. The VM is using vfio-igd passthrough, so vnc or spice are not used. I tried to match the Windows driver

S32_LE to S16_LE
Hi developers, I would appreciate if someone can give me a hand here... I need to run speex on a FPU-less platform with an audio card that only reads samples of type S32_LE (even when it is a 16bits audio card). I understand that if my platform is FPU-less then I should use speex_encode/decode_int() but then, how can I convert my S32_LE sample to S16_LE in order to pass it to speex

Pulse audo in 1.3.25+
So I used to use the winepulse patch for wine. (Yes I like pulse). But since 1.3.25+ uses mmdevapi for audio, that patch no longer works. That author points to a wine multimedia git, however, after installing that I have no more sound in any wine application, and the winecfg test audio says audio failed. How do I get this new sound server working in wine? -- Sincerely, MacNean C. Tyrrell

LSI software raid with centos 5.4
Hi, I have been trying to install CentOS 5.4 on a Intel SR1530SHS, Intel S3200SH mainboard.. It has a 3 x 1TB sata hotswap drives with LSI software raid onboard. I had configured the LSI to have Sata0 and Sata1 with raid 1 and the third drive as a hotspare drive. Format the harddisk and installation was a breeze. The server rebooted into a blank screen and the cursor just keep blinking. Please

Nested Virtualization on Google Cloud.
I am using nested virtualization on a Google Cloud Compute instance. Things are generally working fine with libvirt using qemu+kvm, however I observed that <cpu mode='host-model'> is not exposing avx and avx2 instruction set to the guest Linux instance. Google Cloud platform claims the CPU model of the host compute instance is Broadwell, however libvirt capabilities maps it to

Live Migration and LibVirt CPU Mode
Hi All, First time mailing here, I hope someone can help. We?re running a OpenStack Newton environment on top of CentOS-7.3, LibVirt and Qemu-KVM-EV. We are encountered an issue live migrating a VM between 2 hosts with different CPUs and LibVirt throws the following error: libvirtError: unsupported configuration: guest and host CPU are not compatible: Host CPU does not provide required features:

OpenSolaris ZFS NAS Setup
If it''s of interest, I''ve written up some articles on my experiences of building a ZFS NAS box which you can read here: http://breden.org.uk/2008/03/02/a-home-fileserver-using-zfs/ I used CIFS to share the filesystems, but it will be a simple matter to use NFS instead: issue the command ''zfs set sharenfs=on pool/filesystem'' instead of ''zfs set

Nested KVM issue
Reports posted look good for me. Config should provide the best available performance for cloud VM (L2) on Compute Node. 1. Please, remind me what goes wrong from your standpoint ? 2. Which CPU is installed on Compute Node && how much RAM ? Actually , my concern is :- Number_of_ Cloud_VMs versus Number_CPU_Cores ( not threads) Please, check `top` report in

guestfs_launch() fails when C application is started as a systemd service
Hello, I have a simple C program that uses libguestfs to extract info about disk usage from a libvirt domain. It works when ran manually as root, but fails when started as a systemd service. I'm attaching the service file, source code and verbose logs from both the successful manual run and from the service journal. SELinix is disabled. Error messages: libguestfs:

The server box is running Debian linux and the clients are a mix of debian and winxp. On the server box I'm mounting the harddrives I want to share like this in /etc/fstab: /dev/sda1

Intel RST RAID 1, partition tables and UUIDs
the main advantage I know of for bios fake-raid is that the bios can boot off either of the two mirrored boot devices. usually if the sata0 device has failed, the BIOS isn't smart enough to boot from sata1 the only other reason is if you're running MS Windows desktop which can't do mirroring on its own On Mon, Nov 16, 2020 at 10:23 AM Jonathan Billings <billings at

Nested KVM issue
I would attempt to decrease number of VCPUS allocated to cloud VMs. Say try 4 => 2 . My guess there is not enough VCPUs to run OS itself. I also guess CPU model << Haswell. Please , confirm ( or not) if possible. Since Haswell was launched via my experience Intel Xeons based on this kernel (or latter kernels ) behaves much better then SandyBridge or IvyBridge based.
