Questions about the new idmap interface
Hi,
I tried to configure the new idmap interface. Currently without much success.
I have two samba domains, trusting each other. Each PDC using it's own LDAP
server. I tried
idmap domains = DOM1, DOM2
idmap config DOM1:default = yes
idmap config DOM1:backend = ldap
idmap config DOM1:ldap_base_dn = ou=Idmap,dc=dom1,dc=mydomain,dc=de

Autostarting and job keys...
I''ve now got 5 processes auto started. But I when I query the

Looking at the start script, it looks like it might be creating a new

Destroy autostarted network on shutdown
Hi all,
I just ran into problem properly stopping a network. I have defined a
network and network hook script to accomplish some preparations and
cleanup. Testing my configuration (virsh net-start and virsh
net-destroy) was successfully.
Now I wanted to automate the lifecycle. Unfortunately I realized that an
autostarted network has to be persistent and thus will not be destroyed
(even if the

Re: "virsh list --all" is intermittently causing a shutdown client to boot?
Autostart is set to "enable" for this domain, but I wouldn't expect autostart to be invoked when a simple "read-only" command is run. I'd expect the "list --all" command to only display details about the domain...not change the status of the domain by booting it. Maybe I'm misunderstanding things...

How to disable dnsmasq from starting automatically with libvirtd
Hi.
I have a machine with a local DHCP server and a couple of virtual networks and
I've configured the server for each virtual interface, so that I would be able
to install VMs on the corresponding subnets using PXE.
The problem is that the two DHCP servers (my local server and dnsmasq) are
conflicting with each other causing the boot process to either fails or takes
ages untill a VM can

Enabling route_localnet on private network
I have an issue setting a persistent kernel option on a libvirt net device since that device does not exist early enough during the boot of the KVM host.
I am using the 127.0.0.0 local net for cluster communication between the KVM host and its guests as well as between KVM guests. In order to use addresses on the 127.0.0.0/8 network, which is reserved for local communication, two configuration

qemu:///session and network-mounted home directories
Dear libvirt-users,
Suppose my home directory is network mounted on to several different
machines. And suppose I defined some VMs in qemu:///session. The
configuration files and disk images for qemu:///session are stored in my
home directory.
Now suppose I log in to some machine and use virsh. The qemu:///session
VMs that are marked autostart are started. Now if I log into another
machine and

dnsmasq does not start
Hi!
I am trying to run tap networking with libvirtd.
My test system is Fedora18/ppc64, libvirt 1.0.4 (compiled from git and
installed). On another system with Fedora17/ppc64 with the same settings,
dnsmasq is running. All configs in /etc/libvirt/ are default and not
changed, the only exception is /etc/libvirt/qemu/networks/default.xml which
I copied from Fedora17/ppc64 setup.
What does

how to enable auto-start on newer versions of Xen ?
Hello,
In days past, all I had to do was create /etc/xen/auto and put a symlink in there to the config file for each VM I wanted to have started automatically.
Since updating to 4.6, this doesn't work.? Period.
I'm having a hard time finding what needs to change in order to get VMs to auto start on reboot of a server.? Can someone please point me to documentation that I have missed

Hi,

details on sata issues and mountroot prompt
I have previously written about a mountroot prompt, here are some details.
I have a system with an asus m3a78-emh hdmi board, a 74 gig raptor
drive, and a dual core amd am2 cpu. I have had this result with both
the amd64 and i386 systems. My steps were all conducted today as follows.

run freebsd-update
get src tree
build world
build and install kernel
reboot and be greeted
