Hi Jonas,
I asked a similar question here last week. You could find it by searching
for this topic in the mailing list archives: "Clone VM with saved state".
That being said I'd be very glad if you could update here when you find a
complete solution.

Re: Create multiple domains from single saved domain state (is UUID/name fixed?)
virt-builder looks like some fancy guest/host interaction related to
building VM images.
What I'm looking for is more like:
virsh save running_domain saved-domain-A.img
cp saved-domain-A.img saved-domain-B.img
virsh save-image-edit saved-domain-B.img // Change the network,
possibly MAC, VNC port
Then in parallel I want to do:
virsh restore saved-domain-A.img
virsh restore

Not in a supported way. But you can, technically, edit the save file
(not using virsh), change the name and uuid and restore it. But don't

Re: Create multiple domains from single saved domain state (is UUID/name fixed?)
Fair enough :)
I just wanted to make sure it wasn't supported... I'm probably better off
using QEMU directly. I totally understand that libvirt makes some sane
decisions that makes sense for data center management.
I'm not sure why it couldn't be done. But honestly hacking libvirt to
violate a core invariant is probably asking for trouble :)

Agree, but is that possible with libvirt?
If you do that (restore a previously running image with a different MAC

Yeah, probably I wouldn't change the MAC address. As I want to attach the
VMs to different networks.
I rely on the IP being in a different subnet to identify the VM in

Help? Running into problems with migrateToURI2() and virDomainDefCheckABIStability()
Hi,
We've run into a problem with libvirt 1.1.2 and are looking for some
comments on whether this is a bug or design intent.
We're trying to use migrateToURI() but we're using a few things
(numatune, vcpu mask, etc.) that may need adjustment during the
migration. We found that migrateToURI2() mostly works if we use XML
created by copying the domain XML from the running instance

NUT vs PowerWalker/BlueWalker SNMP with VFI 1500RM/3000RM LCD models
Hello,
I have two UPS from PowerWalker: VFI 1500RM LCD and VFI 3000RM LCD both
equiped with SNMP card, but NUT with snmp-ups does not support them.
PowerWalker declare support RFC1213, RFC162 but there is a problem with
some snmp values:
# upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.6.4
Network UPS Tools - Generic SNMP UPS driver 0.66 (2.6.4)
Detected 3K on host 10.0.0.236

Hi Rowland,
I see this in the ZFS props, if that’s related, you might be referring to something in ext3 that im not aware of at the moment.

Samba 4 Active Directory Quotas
I've been messing around with disk quotas for users and have seen some who
have extended the Samba 4 AD schema to include a quota attribute. For
example, I found this schema extension here:
http://fossies.org/linux/quota/ldap-scripts/quota.schema
Is there a common method for doing this?

Because Samba wiki says 9.11

Because i want update my System, but gentoo do not provide bind-9.11
anymore.
The patches in this Post
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2018-August/217489.html are no
longer at git.

Codespell report for "rsync" (on fossies.org)
Hi,
I don't know if there is any interest in correcting spelling errors.
If yes, the FOSS server fossies.org offers the feature "Source code
misspelling reports":
https://fossies.org/features.html#codespell
Such reports are normally only generated on request, but as Fossies
administrator I have just forced an analysis for the latest rsync "master"
version using a

S+DOX eqivalent in R?
Dear List,
I am looking for a function `Pseudo standard error' (PSE), which is
available in S+ DOX (design of experiemnt) module - Is there a similar
function available in R?
Reference for PSE function is in the paper:
'Quick and easy analysis of unreplicated factorials' by Russell V. Lenth,
Technometrics, 1989, 31, 4, 469-473.
Thanks.
