Rebalance + VM corruption - current status and request for feedback
Hi,
In the past couple of weeks, we've sent the following fixes concerning VM
corruption upon doing rebalance -
https://review.gluster.org/#/q/status:merged+project:glusterfs+branch:master+topic:bug-1440051
These fixes are very much part of the latest 3.10.2 release.
Satheesaran within Red Hat also verified that they work and he's not seeing
corruption issues anymore.
I'd like to

Gluster deamon fails to start
As far as the peer status (and I now remember seeing this earlier) the issue appears to be that the host name for gsaov07 is attempting to resolve over the wrong network for gluster "ent...." and not "stor.local".
So, it may be as simple as removing gsaov07 as a peer, then probing over the correct network.
I'll follow up with the Engine log.

Large vmalloc segments with PXELINUX
Hello,
I'm having a challenge with increasing vmalloc memory beyond
512M using pxelinux.0 to boot.
This config works fine:

LABEL linux
kernel kernels/vmlinuz-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6
append initrd=initrds/bladeinitrd-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6.img
enforcing=0 vmalloc=512M

If I increase vmalloc to 513M, I get errors

Patch : Fix includes
Hi all,
Below is a patch that fixes a couple of instances where a function
is used before it has been prototyped.
There was a little subtlty involved here because the file
include/test_libs_common/metadata_utils.h had the #include guard
the same as that of /src/test_libFLAC/metadata.h meaning that
only the first one included would actually do anthing.
Patch below.
Cheers,
Erik

Great news.
Is this planned to be published in next release?

Rebalance + VM corruption - current status and request for feedback
Hi Mahdi,
Did you get a chance to verify this fix again?
If this fix works for you, is it OK if we move this bug to CLOSED state and
revert the rebalance-cli warning patch?

Hi,
Sorry i did't confirm the results sooner.
Yes, it's working fine without issues for me.
If anyone else can confirm so we can be sure it's 100% resolved.

Rebalance + VM corruption - current status and request for feedback
Any additional tests would be great as a similiar bug was detected and
fixed some months ago and after that, this bug arose?.
Is still unclear to me why two very similiar bug was discovered in two
different times for the same operation
How this is possible?
If you fixed the first bug, why the second one wasn't triggered on your
test environment?

Thoughts on virt-builder --output-alloc sparse|preallocated
I had a good go at implementing $subject, but it's not as easy as it
seems. There was a customer request for this, although I don't think
they ended up filing a BZ for it. Anyway, these are my random
thoughts in no particular order.
It would be nice to use `-oa sparse' etc for compatibility with
virt-v2v, but that possibly closes off future options for replacing
the horrible OCaml

Centos 5.2 on Vmware Server: Disk space not preallocated -> no disk found by installer
Hi folks
I am trying to install CentOS 5.2 in Vmware Server environment. In my
VM disk space is not preallocated for the virtual disk (dynamically).
The installer doesn't find the disk. When preallocating 6 GB there is
no problem.
See screenshot[0]
Any ideas?
kind regards

virt-v2v: test-v2v-oa-option.sh: output is not preallocated
Hi All,
Thanks to your previous assistance, I'm able to compile virt-v2v

PATCH : Fix missing protoypes
Hi all,
I added -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes to the CFLAGS and
found that there were a number warnings generated.
The patch below fixes those warnings and adds the two -W flags to
configure.in.
Cheers,
Erik

Dovecot never release preallocated space in mdbox
Hello everyone,
I am currently evaluating dovecot for our new email production servers
(20k+ mailboxes) and found out something strange.
I'm using those settings on Dovecot 2.2.4 (x86_64 / Slackware / compiled
from sources)
mdbox_rotate_size = 128M
mdbox_rotate_interval = 1d
mdbox_preallocate_space = yes
with virtual users and location like :
mail_location = mdbox:~/mdbox

Samba and Preallocated Files
A question about capturing videos to a Samba share...
When Apple's Final Cut Pro captures video files, it pre-allocates file space
on the destination volume.
If you capture to a local volume that's physically attached to a Macintosh,
or if you capture to a network volume via AFP (Apple File Sharing Protocol),
you can see that Final Cut instantly creates a file of the
