Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Hi, I'm not sure what sort of diagram you mean, but I'll have a try. Does this help? It sounds like I need to do something to enable routing on what I've labelled "NIC3" on the diagram - can you please explain what I need to do? Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Hi Ajey, I thought I already was doing bridge mode. Below are the network interface definitions from the XML config file for the Sophos VM. (Note that it's actually the middle definition which is connected to the cable modem which is different to how I showed it in the earlier diagram). What I don't understand is that the interface type says "direct" in the XML even though in

Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
I'm pretty new to KVM and have a KVM CentOS 7.1 hypervisor running a few VMs. I'm moving all my VMs from an ESXi host as I want to use KVM in future. Most of my VMs are working except for one which is running a Sophos UTM router (Sophos UTM is similar to products like pfSense <https://www.pfsense.org/>, Smoothwall <http://www.smoothwall.org/> etc). The host has 3 physical NICs

Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Hi Phil, But you said you disabled firewalld which makes me wonder if you have the necessary forwarding rules active. Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
does you cable modem give you automatically the IP address? if thats the case then you need to do bridge configuration between nic3 and macvtap dhcp ip and then you will be able to get dhcp attached IP to sophos vm - ajey On Tue, Sep 1, 2015 at 4:33 PM, Phill Edwards <philledwards@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi, I'm not sure what sort of diagram you mean, but I'll have a try. Re: Can't get cable connection working on virtual router machine
Can you please drop a rough diagram here? I think you are routing through this VM and must have shared the host interface. - ajey On Tue, Sep 1, 2015 at 7:39 AM, Phill Edwards <philledwards at gmail.com> wrote: > I'm pretty new to KVM and have a KVM CentOS 7.1 hypervisor running a few > VMs. I'm moving all my VMs from an ESXi host as I want to use KVM in > future. anti-virus
Hello all Have a small problem. We use Samba as our PDC for a large amount of NT clients. We also use Sophos anti-virus to protect the workstations and servers. The problem basically is that although I can get Sophos to work properly I have to go to the actual workstation to install it from the server. Once I've done this Sophos works fine and automatically updates from the server.

talpy-deny error when combining samba and sophos
Hi, I'm getting the following error when trying to save a file in a share with activated on-access-scanning using sophos: Nov 9 17:10:41 server kernel: talpa-deny: Error occured while opening /vol/group/test.ppt on behalf of process smbd[23713/23713] owned by 6688(6688)/0(7003) <512> I know that this is not a samba problem, but may be someone had this problem too and solved it.

Passing traffic between separate public subnets on same interface
I have read everything I can find in the docs and faqs about this, and I feel there must just be some simple thing I''m not doing, but I''m stumped. Two interfaces, eth0 and eth1.  eth1 is the WAN connection to the upstream provider, and has a single IP and the default gateway.  Connection uses bgp. eth0 is the LAN interface, and has multiple IP addresses, private (ie., 10.0.2.x)

Setting up webmail in DMZ
I have a Smoothwall server on my network and am running three network interfaces off it. 1) local LAN 192.168.0.0 with PCs and an internal dovecot server on 192.168.0.154. 2) internet interface 3) DMZ 192.168.2.0 which has a linux web server 192.168.2.1 on which I want to install a webmail so I can access my email remotely. Originally 192.168.2.1 couldn't see the 192.168.0.0 network but with

DomU Guests not shutting down nicely when Dom0 Hypervisor shuts down
I am using Xen 4.6.0-8.el7 on CentOS 7 with 3 Linux DomUs. I did have Xen 4.? on CentOS 6.5 on my previous system. I installed using yum install centos-release-xen. On shutting down the Hypervisor it used to wait for the DomUs to shut down gracefully (one can take a minute or more), then on starting up again it would restart the DomUs, all nice and controlled. For some reason the DomUs (CentOS

Can't get NTLM authentication working with Samba
I've been running Samba for years to provide file shares, and now I'm trying to set it up as an NTLM authentication server for Squid. From what I've read, to do this you need to get winbindd up and running. I think I'm part way there but have hit a brick wall. I've set my machine us a PDC. "wbinfo -u" returns a list of users OK (though I notice one is missing but

Group SID problems?
Have a site where the network users are connecting to most shares through group usage. Unfortunately, access to Samba is sporadic. Sometimes they connect okay, sometimes they can't connect at all. Looking at their system config, I notice that the SID's for the groups look..... odd. The users group ends in 3005.... but each user's PrimaryGroupSID is a group with a SID that ends in

Problem with samba and sophie
Hello, I'm using Sambsa 2.28 and I've just installed Sophos anti-virus and sophie 3.04rc2. If I run sophie standalone to scan a directory/folder it all runs ok, as it also does in daemon mode. I've changed my smb.conf file to specify vfs option=/usr/lib/samba/vscan-sophos.so When I access the share I receive the following in the syslog: samba smbd_vscan_sophos[6649]: ERROR:

Multiple certificates
I have dovecot version 1.0 relese 0.beta8.2.fc5 installed on my FC5 linux box. It acts as an IMAP server to my home LAN. I connect to it from the home PCs over SSL and have installed a certificate in the domain imap.edwards.home to enable this. However, I also use a web site called www.xs2mail.com which retrieves the email from my IMAP server (which has a public DNS entry called

Restoring PDC after Crash, Confused
Samba PDC system drive crashed. running 3.01. rebuilt system drive - kept the hostname the same, restored contents of /etc/samba, plus /etc/shadow, /etc/group, /etc/password PDC isn't recognizing machines for SOME machines. Users appear fine. I know that I should have gotten the domain sid previously by doing "getlocalsid" and then restored it by doing "smbpasswd -W

Running Samba on a masquerading router
Hi, I'm running Samba 2.2.1 on a NAT machine. Only hosts from the private net are allowed access (hosts allow and interfaces set to the private network only). My problem is that domains from the 'public' network are still appearing on my private network, albeit inaccessible. It's almost as if the browse-list mechanism is picking them up on the public interface. Is there a way
