Re: Issues with installing Libvirt 1.2.7 on Ubuntu 12.04
Actualy a Ubuntu question, not a libvirt question…
What I do in these cases, I download the packages manualy from http://packages.ubuntu.com
And instead of just doing this with the libraries, why not also with libvirt it self?
This method doesn’t guarantee a correct working of the installed packages. I’t better to upgrade your Ubuntu to a version which has the correct package versions in the

Re: Remove Virtual bridge and DNSMASQ
HI Michal
Thank you for explaining. I have this situation in a number of production
servers where we would always use static IPs for the host and VMs. In such
case we have no requirement for NATed network in the future. And we we
ever do, we can rely on a DHCP server within the LAN to provide IPs to the
VMs.
I'll look to remove both libivirt-daemon-driver-network,

Remove Virtual bridge and DNSMASQ
I am running KVM virtualization with libvirtd (libvirt) 0.10.2 in bridged
network mode, however I still have the default virtual network
bridge/interfaces and dnsmasq on the host. What I am trying to understand
is whether or not dnsmasq and the virtual network (*virbr0, Vnet0 and Vnet1*)
still play any role. If not, can I remove them?
On most virtual hosts I see they are left around even when a

LVM2 snapshots and XEN = problem :(
Hello guys
Does anyone use lvm2 backends for domU storages ? I do and I wanted to
use lvm''s snapshot feature to make backups of domUs in background but I
got the following problem.
When I create a snapshot LV and copy data from it to backup storage it
works perfect.
Then I do umount and then lvremove. lvremove asks me if I really want to
remove the volume and then just hangs forever.

Building libvirt 1.2.13 from source
Hello
I am trying to build libvirt 1.2.13 (latest) from source on a Ubuntu 14.04
64 bit box. After installing all the dependencies (libyajl, libdevmapper,
libpciaccess, libnl), I could finish the build and install. However,
invoking libvirtd throws this:
root@ubuntu:/home/hvishwanath/Downloads/libvirt-1.2.13# libvirtd
libvirtd: /usr/lib/libvirt-qemu.so.0: version `LIBVIRT_QEMU_1.2.3' not

yum update conflict
I updated my i386 systems without any problems, but when I tried to
update one of my x86_64 systems, I got an error from yum.
Transaction Check Error: file /usr/include/libdevmapper.h from
install of device-mapper-1.02.02-3.0.RHEL4 conflicts with file from
package device-mapper-1.01.04-1.0.RHEL4
So it can't install the newer package because it conflicts with the
older package???

Strange issue with device-mapper lib in CentOS
Hello all,
a couple of weeks ago I've been installing CentOS 4.2 on a very-old
server machine with MSI server board based on Intel GX440 chipset, two
Xeons 500Mhz and one 1Gig of RAM. There is an AMI MegaRaid 467
installed as a storage controller, which causes some troubles with
installation, as stock CenOS4 install and production kernels doesn't
have older megaraid.ko module compiled,

Large RAID volume issues
I have just finished creating an array on our new enclosure and our CentOS 5
server has recognized it. It shows as the full 6tb in the LSI configuration
utility as well as when I ran fdisk:
[root at HOST sbin]# fdisk /dev/sdb
Note: sector size is 2048 (not 512)
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 182292.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,

Re: error in virt-resize
I had some more ideas overnight:
(1) Check that libparted0 is installed on the *host*.
(2) Try to find out what libraries the parted binary requires on
the host and appliance. On the host:
ldd /usr/bin/parted
On the appliance:
virt-rescue --scratch
><rescue> ldd /usr/bin/parted
(3) Remove the appliance and recreate it:
rm -rf /var/tmp/.guestfs-*
libguestfs-test-tool
