[libnbd PATCH 1/3] api: Add get_nr_meta_contexts, clear_meta_contexts
An upcoming commit will add the ability to query which meta contexts a server is advertising; but first we need to be able to present a different list of meta context requests in response to what we learn from the server. Add APIs for reviewing which requests have already been registered, as well as a way to reset the list of requests. This adds some testsuite coverage; and more will appear with

[libnbd PATCH 0/3] opt_list_meta_context
I'm posting this now, as I'm at the end of a workday and I got things working for manual experimentation. Still to do: - write interop tests for qemu-nbd and nbdkit (including my proposed patch addition of qemu-nbd -A to show qemu:allocation-depth) - figure out if we can make 'nbdinfo --map' use the new API to automatically select all contexts advertised by the server Eric Blake

[libnbd PATCH 3/3] api: Add nbd_opt_list_meta_context
Right now, we require the user to supply potential metacontext names in advance, without knowing what the server actually supports until after the connection or nbd_opt_info call is complete. But the NBD protocol also supports a client being able to query what contexts a server supports, including where a client asks with a prefix and the server replies back with all answers that match the

[PATCH libnbd 0/5] info: --map: Coalesce adjacent extents of the same type.
This adds coalescing of adjacent extents of the same type, as mentioned by Eric Blake in the commit message here: https://github.com/libguestfs/libnbd/commit/46072f6611f80245846a445766da071e457b00cd The patch series is rather long because it detours through adding the <vector.h> library from nbdkit into libnbd and replacing ad hoc uses of realloc, char ** etc in various places. Rich.

[PATCH nbdkit] server: Use bool for types which are really booleans.
For mainly historical reasons we tended to use int to store boolean values. However using bool is probably safer in some corner cases (eg. ?v == true? can fail badly if v is an int, but works for bool). bool was added in C99 so let's use it. --- server/internal.h | 16 +++++------ server/connections.c | 28 +++++++++--------- server/crypto.c | 4 +-- server/main.c | 67

Thanks for the detailed response! :-) > This is by design. LLVM's type system is very low-level... Yes, and it should remain low-level. :-) > Expecting it to directly support generics seems a third-order-of- > magnitude leap of faith. :) But there is good news for the faithful? Let us distinguish between generics as found in java or .Net, and parametric polymorphism in general.

[nbdkit PATCH 1/3] server: Implement nbdkit_is_tls for use during .open
Now that we can differentiate content based on export name, we also need to be able to differentiate content for a --tls=on server, since TLS is optional according to whether the client has authenticated. For internal code and filters, this means adding a new parameter; the sh plugin can do likewise. For plugins, we can't add a parameter until the V3 protocol, so in the meantime, we add

[PATCH] Switch to poll in xenconsoled's io loop.
The original implementation utilies select(). In Linux select() typically supports up to 1024 file descriptors. This can be a problem when user tries to boot up many guests. Switching to poll() has minimum impact on existing code and has better scalibility. Up to 8192 file descriptors are supported in the current implementation. size_t and printk and Xen
I am adding code in Xen that printk''s a size_t and find that I can''t write code (short of ifdef''ing) that compiles on both 32-bit and 64-bit because size_t is typedef''d in Xen as an unsigned long. C.f. http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t438359-portable-way-to-printf-a-sizet-instance.html It appears that the %z format is understood by Xen printk. Is the
