[PATCH v3] appliance: extract UUID from QCOW2 disk image
For the appliance of the QCOW2 format, the function get_root_uuid() fails to get the UUID of the disk image. In this case, let us read the first 256k bytes of the disk image with the 'qemu-img dd' command. Then pass the read block to the 'file' command. Suggested-by: Denis V. [PATCH] appliance: extract UUID from QCOW2 disk image
For the appliance of the QCOW2 format, get the UUID of the disk by reading the first 256k bytes with 'qemu-img dd' command. Then pass the read block to the 'file' command. In case of failure, run the 'file' command again directly. Suggested-by: Denis V. Lunev <den@openvz.org> Signed-off-by: Andrey Shinkevich <andrey.shinkevich@virtuozzo.com> ---

[PATCH v2 0/4] daemon: Translate device names if Linux device is unstable (RHBZ#1804207).
v1 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2020-February/msg00220.html This patch series is a little bit better. It's still a bit of a hack. The _real_ fix for this is outlined in the TODO file (see patch 1) but that requires a lot more work than we could do before 1.42 is released, unless we delay 1.42 for a lot longer. I'm hoping with this to have something which works

MoH - conversion command
Hi, I've been trying to get MoH files to sound decent. I've got a hold of Royalty-free Classical music (a safe choice for most of my customers) and I`ve been trying to convert them to the normal telephony/Asterisk format using sox. Unfortunately, it sounds really bad. I don't expect concert hall quality of course, 8000KHz being what it is, but is there a better way to convert

[PATCH] lib: create: avoid one extra string allocation
When creating the qemu-img command, use the guestfs_int_cmd_add_arg & guestfs_int_cmd_add_arg_format APIs to add the proper filename directly, without creating a string for it. This should cause no functional change. --- lib/create.c | 25 +++++++++++-------------- 1 file changed, 11 insertions(+), 14 deletions(-) diff --git a/lib/create.c b/lib/create.c index 60e467fb6..fcc5855e0 100644

[PATCH] lib: Use a common function to validate strings.
As discussed in the thread on validating $TERM, it would be good to have a common function to do this. This is such a function. The main advantage is it includes unit tests which the previous functions did not. Rich.

[PATCH] appliance: Pass root=UUID=... to supermin.
By passing root=UUID=... to supermin, we make the appliance boot process less sensitive to the non-deterministic process of scanning SCSI disks (of which much more to come). This patch should be tested alongside the supermin patch posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-April/msg00174.html which in turn requires this supermin patch series:

[PATCH v2] lib/info: Remove /dev/fd hacking and pass a true filename
v1 posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-December/msg00050.html v2 fixes the tests by rewriting relative paths as ./filename (so that filenames like "file:foo" work).
