[PATCH] lib: remove extra @LIBS@ from pkg-config file
At the moment it is empty, so probably it does not exist. Remove it to avoid adding spurious content to the pkg-config file in case that variable will get a value in the future. --- lib/libguestfs.pc.in | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/lib/libguestfs.pc.in b/lib/libguestfs.pc.in index 679ed7eba..013bf0f28 100644 --- a/lib/libguestfs.pc.in +++

[PATCH hivex] ocaml: Link the C bindings with LDFLAGS (RHBZ#1548536).
Use the ocamlmklib -ldopt flag to pass the general $(LDFLAGS) when calling gcc to link dllmlhivex.so. We were already passing $(CFLAGS) when building the object file. When building using Fedora's standard hardening flags this gives: ocamlmklib -o mlhivex hivex_c.o hivex.cmo \ -verbose -ldopt '-Wl,-z,relro -specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-hardened-ld' \ -L../lib/.libs

Re: Hivex - Trailing garbage at the end of hive file
Hi Rich, I'm still working on validating whether the trailing zeroes were introduced by hivex or by windows (though I highly doubt it's hivex). But since it's part of a more complex workflow which is not that easy to modify, it's still a work in progress In the meanwhile, I wanted to be sure that ignoring the condition when hivex saw these trailing zeroes was the right solution.

Re: Hivex - Trailing garbage at the end of hive file
Rich, Our workflow is something like this: 0. Start with a fresh copy of windows server 2k8 1. We read the system hive and then write to it a bunch of times 2. Boot windows 3. Read from the system hive Hivex reports the failure at step #3. I also noticed that the size of the registry hive observed in step #3 is the same as step #0. Is it possible that hivex issues write that cause a hive file

Re: Hivex - Trailing garbage at the end of hive file
(Resending since my message from 2 days ago didn't make it to the list. Perhaps because of the log file attachment) Hi Rich, Sorry about the delayed response. I understand that since hive formats are not open, the current tack of warning about the hive file is a better one To respond to you question about "whether it fails", hivexsh is unable to open the hive file and it prints

hivex patch to solve device or resource busy error when access Windows directory while open system hive
I have found a strange issue related to hivex/ntfs-3g. After opening a system hive on a volume mounted by ntfs-3g, any access to the Windows directory results device or resource busy error. The patch below fix it by closing the hive file handle in hivex_open() call in the writable path because the handle never been used after its content been read into memory. --- hivex-1.2.5.orig/lib/hivex.c

Python Hivex Assertion Failed
Good afternoon, I am working with the hivex python bindings and having trouble with an assertion failure. The code I run is based on the blog post from 11/28/10 and is: import hivex h = hivex.Hivex("ntuser.dat") r = h.root() key = h.node_get_child(r) The assert failure happens when I call any of the "node" functions, even "node_name()". The error message I get

Re: Hivex - Trailing garbage at the end of hive file
Is there a reason why a previous version of hivex ignored this condition while more recent ones throw an error? I do have some hive files that are failing (I'm yet to validate if they are good or were corrupted some other way). I will do so and share my findings Thanks ~ Hari On 9/24/13 5:20 PM, "Richard W.M. Hivex - Trailing garbage at the end of hive file
[Forwarding to the proper list] We use hivex for one of our projects and I see the following diff committed to the hivex project (source link provided) that ignores trailing garbage. But this code has been reverted to no ignore this condition in later version of hivex - /* This error is seemingly common in uncorrupt registry files. */ - /* - fprintf (stderr, "hivex: %s:

Hivex bug? Cannot access Windows 2003 x64 Software\Classes key
I tried both hivex-1.2.5 and hivex-1.2.7, same result. The same software hive can be loaded using Windows regedit tool, and had no problem to access the "Classes" key. The other keys under Software (like Microsoft, Wow6432Node, etc.) are OK. Here is the hivexsh output with HIVEX_DEBUG=1 enabled:

[PATCH 0/7] hivex + hivexml: Add byte runs for nodes and values
This changeset adds byte run reporters for node and value metadata in the hivexml program. This location reporting required several new ABI functions, which required new ABI return types. One benefit to the byte run functions is additional sanity checks, which have revealed new data or parsing errors when run on M57 patents images. An example error: Image: Charlie, 2009-12-11, available at

[hivex] OS X, Fedora 17: iconv autotool inconsistency
Hello all, I've been testing hivexml in OS X, and came across an inconsistency in building. Some while back, I hit a snag with iconv in OS X, where basically this would happen when a hive of any sophistication (greater than hivex/images/small) was processed: >$ xml/hivexml images/large >test.xml >dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _iconv_open > Referenced from:

hivex lib: Add function hivex_node_num_children
Hello, I've been working on a graphical registry hive editing tool in Qt using the hivex C library. While creating it, I noticed that in order to determine if an expansion element should be shown on a node, you have to determine if a node has any children. Currently, in order to determine if a node has any children, you must find every child with hivex_node_children, which is a relatively
