RSvgDevice incomplete svg output
Hi
I use RSvgDevice to output plot, and modify them using svg editor (inkscape or
sodipodi on Linux). Some month ago, results were perfect. I did exactly the
same analysis today on the same data, and unfortunatly the results are
different. While looking to the svg file, it seems that all information
concerning "fill" and "stroke" of objects are lost. The consequence is that

Mention about an open source image editor
Some days back there was a mention about an open source image editor
that people uses for application layout designing. I have forgotten
about the name of that software.
Can someone send me the link?

pdf() Export Problem: Circles Interpreted as Fonts from ggplot2 Graphics
Good Evening:
I am putting together a large report with plots created in R, V 2.12.0. Most of
the plots are created using ggplot2 V0.8.9. I use R's pdf() command to export
the plot to a pdf file. I am exporting the plots and attempting to edit the
title text in?Inkscape?primarily because ggplot2 does not support superscript or
subscript formatting in the title text. For the report I am

RE: scriptaculous appear effect and tiny_mce bug onopera 9
I seem to recall the Effect.Appear setting the final opacity to 0.99 to
avoid some bug on some browser; anyone remember the specifics? Seems
like we should probably just conditionally check for the broken browser
and set to 0.99 for only that one, otherwise leave it at 1.0, but I know
I don''t have the full picture of why it was necessary or whether it
still is.

Re: win.metafiles in linux and R
I posted a similar query some months ago. Some people answered stating that
win.metafiles were not available for R in linux. However, I was suggested
to use the package RSvgDevice, which allows transforming any graphic device
into Scalable Vector Graphics format, this file can then be opened with
sodipodi, and really impresive stuff can be achieved. I also noticed that
OpenOffice for linux has an

Invisible plot using RSvgDevice
Dear list members,
I have a probably simple question concerning the RSvgDevice. After upgrading from R 1.9.0 to R 2.0.1 the computet svg files looking empty.
Each time the RSvgDevice 0.5.3 were used.
Scales and headers are printed but the plots are missing:

PDFs and SVGs containing rasterGrobs don't display correctly in some other software
I've just been trying to post-process some R-created heatmaps using
Inkscape, but I can't get them to display correctly in that software.
To reproduce:
library(grid)
r <- as.raster(matrix(runif(25), 5, 5))
pdf("test.pdf")
grid.newpage()
grid.raster(r, interpolate = FALSE)
dev.off()
This figure should be a five by five block of grey squares. This is
what I see in the R GUI

multiple bar plot annotation text labelling
Readers,
The attempt is to create a bar plot with text labels adjacent to each
datum value.
Data file:

metacity theme opacity
I pushed out some changes to gwd that makes it possible to properly set
an overall opacity value for any metacity theme. Making the complete
decorations translucent can look bad with some themes. However, I've
made it possible to have the opacity fade from opaque to the selected
opacity value in a similar way to how the built-in decorations look.
This usually looks a lot better.
I'll add

Options for generating editable figures?
Hello all,
I'm using R to produce figures for people who want to be able to edit
the figures directly, and who use PowerPoint a lot. I use a Mac, and I'd
appreciate any advice about how to approach this. Here's what I've come
up with so far:
1) I can use xfig() and then ask them to install Inkscape to edit the
files. Downsides are no transparency and a learning curve with

Problems with points in plots when importing from pdf to an SVG editor

points in the graphics turn out as "q"s.
This example displays the beaviour:

pdf() device uses fonts to represent points - data alteration?
Hello all,
I discovered that the pdf device uses fonts to represent "points"
symbols (as in plot(...,type="p",...) ). Namely it uses ZapfDingbats
with symbol U+25cf. This can lead to problems when the font is not
available, or available in another version (such as points being
replaced by other symbols, or worst: slightly displaced).
Furthermore, it also causes
