[libnbd PATCH] nbdsh: Add -b option to simplify h.block_status
We decided to not request the "base:allocation" context by default (if a client wants to use block_status on a different context, then they'd have to get any default request out of the way); however, block status is useless without at least one meta context. This adds a convenience knob for requesting that, and has the nice benefit of working with the --connect command line option

[libnbd PATCH] nbdsh: Add test of handling globals in -c
Test that we can script the read of a specific pattern from nbdkit. Also, test that we can concatenate global functions through consecutive -c. This test fails if commit d6cbd130 is reverted. --- sh/Makefile.am | 5 ++++- sh/test-dump.sh | 45 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2 files changed, 49 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) create mode 100755 sh/test-dump.sh diff --git

[PATCH libnbd 0/5] interop: Check that LIBNBD_TLS_ALLOW works against nbdkit.
I was a little surprised to find that LIBNBD_TLS_ALLOW worked out of the box, so I had to examine the logs whereupon I saw the magic message ... libnbd: debug: nbd1: nbd_connect_command: server refused TLS (policy), continuing with unencrypted connection I don't believe this path has ever been tested before. It's possible the tests could be improved if they actually checked for this

[libnbd PATCH] nbdsh: Start adding unit tests
Ultimately, I'd like to add a unit test covering our recent fix for handling globals from consecutive -c, but let's start with a simple test that --help output is sane. Sanity includes a mention of the man page for more details (similar to nbdkit --help, although I couldn't figure out how to make python's argparse output that sentence last). --- python/nbdsh.py | 3 ++-

[PATCH libnbd] interop: Add test of qemu-storage-daemon.
This commit adds a simple test of qemu-storage-daemon (QSD). On the basis that QSD is just qemu-nbd in new clothes this is only a simple test, not complete coverage. Nor does it test the unique features of QSD like being able to use QMP to create new server instances. Unfortunately QSD is not yet stable upstream. This version works with qemu 5.1.0 but at least two of the command line

[libnbd PATCH] interop: Don't fail qemu tls testing if nbdkit was not installed
On Fedora 29, nbdkit-devel at 1.10.4 is too old for any of the tests/Makefile.am actions to run, but this also means we don't create any tls pki/ or keys.psk files that we then want to reuse during qemu testing, as evidenced by 'make check' failures such as: FAIL: interop-qemu-nbd-tls-certs ================================ qemu-nbd: Unable to access credentials

[PATCH 0/8] Fix valgrind tests.
Since we switched to using parallel tests, our valgrind tests would definitely have found leaks in the /usr/bin/env program if it had any. Not so much in some of our own programs. Let's fix that. Rich.

[libnbd PATCH] nbdsh: Hide nbd.Error from abrt-python3-handler
When using nbdsh for scripting, it is convenient to let nbdsh fail with status 1 when encountering an API failure. However, doing so by letting the nbd.Error exception leak all the way causes ABRT (on Fedora 32 at least) to assume the program crashed from a programming error, and needlessly complicates clients to have to add try: blocks. Better is if nbdsh itself prints the same stack trace that

[libnbd PATCH] maint: Use $(NULL) for all Makefile.am macro lists
This borrows from a trick in libvirt - by defining $(NULL) to expand to an empty string, we can more consistently write multi-line macros where all useful lines terminate with \, making it easier to add/remove lines without worrying about whether \ needs to be touched up on neighboring lines. --- Looks big, but is fairly mechanical. I'm also doing a similar patch for nbdkit, where it would

[libnbd PATCH 0/2] NBD_OPT_INFO support
This replaces 13/13 of my v2 series; and now that it has pretty good testsuite coverage and demonstrable performance improvement to nbdinfo, I'm going ahead and pushing this now. We may still want to add further nbd_opt_* commands for other fine-grained tuning of negotiation, but for now, I think things have stabilized on this end, and I can return to polishing .list_exports on the nbdkit

[PATCH libnbd v2 0/2] Implement systemd socket activation.
v1 was posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-September/thread.html#00337 v2: - Drop the first patch. - Hopefully fix the multiple issues with fork-safety and general behaviour on error paths. Note this requires execvpe for which there seems to be no equivalent on FreeBSD, except some kind of tedious path parsing (but can we assign to environ?) Rich.
