[nbdkit PATCH] Check for python3 first
On systems where python is still set to python2 the check will fail even though it is still completely possible to compile and use nbdkit. Re: Plans for nbdkit 1.18 release?
Eric: Did you want to take this one any further? It might be one that we save for > 1.18: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2020-February/thread.html#00206 Another thing I've been thinking about for some time is splitting .config_complete into .config_complete + .get_ready (new name TBD). At the moment .config_complete is both the place where we finish processing config, and

[PATCH NOT WORKING nbdkit v2 0/2] vddk: Restructure plugin to allow greater parallelism.
This is my second attempt at this. The first version (also not working) was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-October/msg00062.html In part 1/2 I introduce a new .ready_to_serve plugin method which is called after forking and just before accepting any client connection. The idea would be that plugins could start background threads here. However this doesn't work well in

[PATCH nbdkit 0/5] server: Add .get_ready callback.
I like this change. I think we were overloading the config_complete method before to do two different things (complete configuration; do any allocation/housekeeping necessary before we can start serving). The only questions in my mind are whether we want this before 1.18, and whether the name ("get_ready") is a good one. Rich.

[PATCH nbdkit filters-v3 0/7] Introduce filters.
This is still tentative and needs a lot of work, but: - partition filter works, supporting MBR & GPT - prepare and finalize methods fixed - open method can now be changed (allowing readonly flag to be modified) - thread_model can be limited I believe I made most of the changes which were previously suggested in email. I think the only one I didn't was preventing inclusion of both

[PATCH nbdkit filters-v2 0/5] Introduce filters.
Rebased filters patch. Requires current git master + the locks / thread model fix (https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-January/msg00128.html) So a few changes here since last time: The "introduce filters" and "implement filters" patches are squashed together. I introduced a concept of .prepare and .finalize. These run before and after the data serving phase

[nbdkit PATCH 0/3] Add nozero filter
I still need to add testsuite coverage. Perhaps it might be easier if I create a new '--filter=log logfile=foo' filter that produces a log of which commands a client sent, then compare the log using a known client that uses write_zeroes (qemu-io works well) both with and without --filter=nozero to prove that the change in advertisement changes the commands sent over the wire (that would

[nbdkit PATCH 0/2] RFC: tweak error handling, add log filter
Here's what I'm currently playing with; I'm not ready to commit anything until I rebase my FUA work on top of this, as I only want to break filter ABI once between releases. [PATCH nbdkit INCOMPLETE 0/6] Introduce filters to nbdkit.
This patch isn't complete (patch 6/6 isn't finished) so it's just for discussion, although it does compile and run. This introduces to nbdkit a concept of "filters" which can be placed in front of plugins to modify their behaviour. Some examples where you might use filters: * Serve a subset of the data, such as (offset, range) or a single partition from a disk image.

[PATCH nbdkit v2] PROPOSED: server: Implement list_exports.
Updated proposal, taking into account the default export. Instead of adding a second call, I made a couple of changes to list_exports: (1) If the plugin has a concept of a default export, it should add it as the first element in the exports list. (2) There is a new default_only flag which tells the plugin that the client is trying to request the name of the default export, so the

[nbdkit PATCH v2 00/13] Add filters + FUA support to nbdkit
A combination of the work that both Rich and I have been doing lately, where filters use only the new API with flags on every command that the client can send over the wire (we can then add support for more flags in nbdkit without having to add new callbacks, as NBD adds more flags upstream). Eric Blake (4): protocol: Split flags from cmd field in requests backend: Pass flags argument through

For review only, this needs some clean up and more tests. My eyes are going cross-eyed looking at the calculate_offset_of_entry function, so time to take a break ... Rich.

[nbdkit PATCH v3 0/4] bind .zero to Python
This cleans up the existing code base with regards to implicit use of errno from language bindings, then rebases the previous work in python on top of that. I'm still playing with the perl bindings, but got further after reading 'perldoc perlembed'. Eric Blake (4): plugins: Don't use bogus errno from non-C plugins plugins: Add new nbdkit_set_error() utility function python:
