[PATCH] libvirt: read disk paths from pools (RHBZ#1366049)
A disk of type 'volume' is stored as
<source pool='pool_name' volume='volume_name'/>
and its real location is inside the 'volume_name', as 'pool_name': in
this case, query libvirt for the actual path of the specified volume in
the specified pool.
Adjust the code so that:
- for_each_disk gets the virConnectPtr, needed to do operations with

[PATCH] New APIs: Model libvirt authentication events through the API.
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones at redhat.com>
This commit models libvirt authentication events through the API,
adding one new event (GUESTFS_EVENT_LIBVIRT_AUTH) and several new
APIs:
guestfs_set_libvirt_supported_credentials
guestfs_get_libvirt_requested_credentials
guestfs_get_libvirt_requested_credential_prompt
guestfs_get_libvirt_requested_credential_challenge

[PATCH v2] lib: add support for disks with 4096 bytes sector size
From: Nikolay Ivanets <stenavin@gmail.com>
Nowadays there are hard drives and operating systems which support
"4K native" sector size. In this mode physical and logical block size
exposed to the operating system is equal to 4096 bytes.
GPT partition table (as a known example) being created in this mode will
place GPT header at LBA1 which is 4096 bytes. libguetfs is unable to

[PATCH 0/7] Add libvirt domain to core API
This series of patches aim to make adding disks from libvirt domains
easy through the core API.
These two new APIs allow you to add the disks from a libvirt domain.
The higher level add-domain API takes the name of the libvirt domain
as a string and connects to libvirt itself. The lower level
add-libvirt-dom API relies on the program to connect to libvirt and
pass the virDomainPtr into the API

[PATCH 2/4] Support fstab block device resolution for NetBSD
Make a best effort try to map NetBSD disklabel partitions to Linux
partitions. The mapping will be incorrect if there is a gap in the
disklabel partitions sequence, e.g. 'b' (swap) partition is missing but
'e' partition is defined.

[PATCH 2/2] launch: libvirt: fix custom hypervisor check
Previously, is_custom_hv() used to compare the QEMU executable found
during configure to the hypervisor set to check whether it is a custom
one; however, the QEMU found at configure time can be different than
what libvirt was configured with.
This fixes the libvirt backend when libguestfs is configured with a
different QEMU, that now will be specified as emulator overriding the
libvirt one.

[PATCH] guestfs: fix typo in my recent change
Sorry about that.
Matt noticed I introduced a compilation failure.
Here's what I've pushed.

[RFC] lib: allow to specify physical/logical block size for disks
From: Nikolay Ivanets <stenavin@gmail.com>
I faced with situation where libguestfs cannot recognize partitions on a
disk image which was partitioned on a system with "4K native" sector
size support.
In order to fix the issue we need to allow users to specify desired
physical and/or logical block size per drive basis.
It is definitely not a complete patch but rather a way to

[PATCH 1/2] src: start unifying version handling
Introduce a new struct version with few helper functions for it: this
allows to "atomically" represent a version number, without different
variables to be used and checked together.
Add a initialization function from a libvirt-style version number, and
apply it for the qemu and libvirt versions in the direct and libvirt
backends.

[PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
This refactors existing code to close file descriptors in the recovery
process, and also adds code to close file descriptors between the
fork() and exec() of QEMU or User-Mode Linux.
The reason is to avoid leaking main process file descriptors where the
main process (or other libraries in the main process) are not setting
O_CLOEXEC at all or not setting it atomically. Python is a particular

Re: [PATCH] launch: Close file descriptors after fork (RHBZ#1123007).
Hi Richard,
I see this patch is included into libguestfs >= 1.26.6 & libguestfs >=
1.27.24. I feel that version is too high. Now RHEL 7.0 runs
libguestfs-1.22.6, RHEL 6.6 alpha and 6.5 runs libguestfs-1.20.11. Is that
possible to backport this patch, in order to make this problem fixed in
RHEL 7.0, 6.6, and 6.5?
Thanks & Best Regards

buffer overflow detected in collectd using libguestfs
We have extended collectd virt plugin to extract info about disk usage from
a libvirt domain using libguestfs.
We have had several issues with it which were raised here in 2018 by Peter
Dimitrov.
Currently the collectd plugin works fine and retrieves the required
statistics. Current collectd configuration says that interval of reading
statistics (interval of calling all plugins read functions) is

[PATCH v3 RESEND] direct, fish: add blocksize as optional argument for launch command
Allow `launch` call to accept an optional argument, called `blocksize`.
Example:
$ guestfish --listen -a raw.img
$ guestfish --remote -- launch blocksize:4096
The actual qemu command is:
[...]
-device virtio-scsi-ccw,id=scsi
-drive file=raw.img,cache=writeback,id=hd0,if=none
-device scsi-hd,drive=hd0,physical_block_size=4096,logical_block_size=4096

blocksize to the disks. The name is `launch_blocksize`, accompanied alias is
`run-blocksize`.
Example:
$ guestfish --listen -a raw.img
$ guestfish --remote -- launch_blocksize 4096
The actual qemu command is:

[PATCH 0/7] Fix SELinux security contexts so we can access shared disks (RHBZ#912499).
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=912499
(especially comments 7 & 10)
This patch set is the final fix so that we can access disks in use by
other guests when SELinux and sVirt are enabled.
Previously such disks were inaccessible because sVirt labels the disks
with a random SELinux label to prevent other instances of qemu from
being able to read them. So naturally the libguestfs
