Getting DigiGuide to update on WINE
Hi all,
I've got the latest version of DigiGuide running under WINE on Ubuntu
(Dapper), however I have a few questions that I would like to ask.
1) I cannot get DIGIGUIDE to update the listings, I get an error
message about the filelist.dat not being downloaded. Is this a
permissions thing? If so what files/directories do I need to change.
2) At the moment I have to run DIGIGUIDE in a

Digiguide
Hi,
This is my first time posting here, so please be kind.
Until late Summer (late June I think), I happily used an application called DigiGuide under wine and it worked beautifully. However, after this, it never worked properly and I gave up with it. I have only just decided to try it again after I was reminded that I still had nearly two years of my DigiGuide subscription left and decided to

cron job install/update problems: tcltk can't find display (installing e.g., pbatR)
On Fedora Core Linux 4, I have a cron job that causes R to update all
packages and install new ones. Lately, I notice in the log that some
packages fail to install. These are ones that assume X is running.
For example, the pbatR install requires tcltk to be loaded, and then
the install fails because in a cron job, there is no DISPLAY
environment. I suppose the same happens if you try to

Patchy 'front-end' package installation problems using -R- 2.15.1
I think this is the fourth attempt to send this blessed message, so let's hope this gets through without any 'unprocessed' or 'ignored' in-lines on auto-reply.
I wish to report to you some strange problems I'm experiencing with installing packages directly into my -R- 2.15.1 (there is an indirect solution, which I note below). First, here's some essential information:

(newb) Installing on windows w/Eaton 5110.
I like to think of myself as reasonably intelligent when it comes to
systems (MS in Comp Sci, albeit a few hundred moons ago), but I seem to
be missing something when it comes to installing NUT on a 64 bit windows
XP system.
I downloaded and attempted it install but the installer said I needed
to install libusb manually. So I went and grabbed that, unpacked the
ZIP file and ran the

SIGPIPE in assorted apps after "yum update"
Hello,
I have several systems which I recently updated with
yum -y update
to all the latest packages. These systems use yum-priorities and use
the CentOS (priority 1) EPEL (priority 5) and rpmforge (priority 10)
repositories. After the updates, dhcpd stopped working with a SIGPIPE
error which occurs shortly after it attempts to fork into the
background. I worked around that problem by building

Help....package "GPLOTS" will not install. Linux
Hello,
Apologies in advance if this is not the appropriate forum for this post.
My problem is I'm not able to install the package "GPLOTS". Below are
the outputs for the commands: sessionInfo() and
install.packages("gplots",dependencies=TRUE).
It seems the package "GDATA" is part of the problem but I'm not an
expert in this. The "GDATA" package

Again: Re: MSN keeps disconnecting with load balancing (fwd)
This ''MSN'' is a web site? Im guessing it ''refresh''es every 5 minutes or
so.
They are proably testing cookies against the ip address they appear to be
comming from. This is horribly wreckless of them if they arnt offering
IPv6. Are they? They only way i have to remedy this problem is to get
their IP range and bind it to the most stable connexion you have,

samba-2.2.5 + spoolss + WindowsXP=DENIED? plus some
I have setup my samba server to be a domain controller for my primarily windows based home network. For the most part this work well. I am running on samba 2.2.5, installed from an RPM I downloaded directly from the us4 samba mirror. The host OS is Redhat 7.3 with all current patches. But I am running into two problems.
First of all, when I try to connect to the shared printer we have from

R CMD INSTALL configure.args and CC customization
Hi, everybody.
I hope the new year is treating you well.
In a Rocks Cluster Linux system (that's Centos 5.2 based), I have
built R-2.10 and it runs well.
While fiddling with MPI libraries and R packages, I've noticed a few
little wrinkles.
This comes as no surprise to the veteran R programmers, but let me
share to the new guys the following gem:

installing spam package is failing (spam_0.29-1)
The primary error seems to be:
"Creating a new generic function for "diff" in "spam"
Error in setGeneric(f, where = where) :
must supply a function skeleton, explicitly or via an existing
function"
And the full output follows. Any thoughts on what may be happening
and/or how to work around the problem?
Thanks!

I'm having issues with the installation of the ncdf package. It returns a

not have problems installing other packages.
Thanks.
