[PATCH nbdkit] server: Deprecate the -e/--exportname parameter.
This parameter provided a name for the "default export" -- ie. the one
and only export returned to the client by NBD_OPT_LIST. But nbdkit
traditionally didn't care what export name the client requested.
Since 1.16 plugins have been able to serve different content per
export name (and return errors for unknown exports), but the -e option
didn't reflect that and only created

[nbdkit PATCH] captive: Support $uri in --run
The existing --run '$nbd' outputs an older form that differs between
libguestfs and qemu, and which is not always a valid URI. For
historical compatibility, we probably can't change that; but we can
instead add a new '$uri' that outputs a valid URI. Note that the
libguestfs '$nbd' TCP form is already a valid URI, but that libguestfs
still needs to be taught about the

[nbdkit PATCH v2 0/7] Spec compliance patches
Since the v1 series (0/4, at [1]), I've applied patches 1 and 2,
rewritten patch 3 [Forbid NUL in export and context names] into patch
4 here, patch 4 there turned into patch 6 here, and everything else
here is new.

[nbdkit PATCH] server: Reinstate limited use of -e/-exportname.
While we are unlikely to change our decision that -e should not
control our response to NBD_OPT_LIST (because we intend to add a new
callback .extents_list for that), it turns out that it is a lot easier
to write:
nbdkit -U - -e foo info --run 'nbdsh -u "$uri" -c "print(h.pread(3, 0))"'
than it is to write the equivalent:
nbdkit -U - info --run 'nbdsh -u

[PATCH nbdkit v3 0/4] Add linuxdisk plugin.
For v3 I reimplemented this using mke2fs -d. This obviously makes the
implementation a whole lot simpler, but cannot support multiple
directory merging.
Patches 1-3 are the same as before. I've also reproduced the notes
from v2 below.
v2:
- Fix inconsistent tab/space.
- All 3 plugins now contain a block of text pointing to the
other 2 plugins.
- TMDIR -> TMPDIR
- Unlink the

[PATCH nbdkit v2 0/5] Add linuxdisk plugin.
Another interesting thing you can do with this plugin:

v2:
- Fix inconsistent tab/space.
- All 3 plugins now contain a block of text pointing to the
other 2 plugins.
- TMDIR -> TMPDIR
- Unlink the temporary file and other cleanups along error paths.
- fclose -> pclose, and check the return value for errors.

[PATCH nbdkit 0/4] New plugin: Add linuxdisk plugin.
Turns out Japanese trains are good for coding!
In supermin we have a bunch of code to create the libguestfs
appliance. It creates it directly using libext2fs (part of
e2fsprogs). We can use the same technique to create ext2 virtual
disks in nbdkit, which is what this new plugin does. Why a new plugin
instead of modifying the floppy plugin? See the 4/4 commit message
for an explanation.

[PATCH nbdkit] tar as a filter.
For review only, this needs some clean up and more tests.
My eyes are going cross-eyed looking at the calculate_offset_of_entry
function, so time to take a break ...

[nbdkit PATCH 0/2] Fix nbdkit --run when nbdkit hits assertion
Found while working on the retry filter. Swap the order of the two
patches to see nbdkit ignore assertion failures with status 0.

[PATCH nbdkit] server: When using --run, wait for captive nbdkit to exit.
I'd like to propose we backport this to 1.18 and some earlier stable
branches too.

[nbdkit PATCH v2 0/6] Improve retry filter
Includes a rework of the previously posted patch for --run
improvements (mostly with improved comments and commit message; I
decided that waiting for the captive nbdkit to exit was overkill), and
four new patches. The tests are intentionally separate, to allow
rearranging the order of the series to see the failures being fixed.

[PATCH nbdkit 3/4] common: Move a utility function to a common directory.
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones@redhat.com>
The shell_quote function is moved to a new common/utils directory.
Eventually more utility functions can be created here.
This change is pure refactoring.

[PATCH nbdkit 00/10] FreeBSD support.
With these patches, a majority of tests pass. The notable
things which are still broken:
- Because FreeBSD links /home -> /usr/home, $(pwd) gives a different
result from realpath(2). Therefore some tests which implicitly
rely on (eg) a plugin which calls nbdkit_realpath internally and
then checking that path against $(pwd) fail.
- Shebangs (#!) don't seem to work the same way

Few libnbd questions/concerns
Here are few things I found out when using libnbd that might be perfectly fine
or maybe just an oversight, but I wanted to point them out. It's nothing major.
When running a program with `nbdkit -U - --run ...`, the $nbd parameter gets
expanded to nbd:unix:/path/to/socket. When this string is passed to
nbd_connect_uri(), it does not return an error (even though it is not a valid
URL), but
