[PATCH libnbd v2 0/6] Test connection states.
Patch 1/6 was posted before and I didn't change it: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-May/thread.html#00134 That doesn't necessarily mean I shouldn't change it, I'm posting it again because the other patches depend on it. The main change in this series is we add three new API functions: nbd_aio_is_created - connection has just been created

[PATCH libnbd] api: Synchronous connect waits til all connections are connected.
If not using multi-conn then obviously the synchronous connection calls ‘nbd_connect_unix’, ‘nbd_connect_tcp’ and ‘nbd_connect_command’ should only return when the (one) connection object is connected. In the multi-conn case it's not very clear what these synchronous calls should do. Previously I had it so that they would return as soon as at least one connection was connected. However this

[PATCH libnbd] api: Get rid of nbd_connection.
This isn't quite finished because not all of the tests or examples have been updated, but it demonstrates an idea: Should we forget about the concept of having multiple connections managed under a single handle? In this patch there is a single ‘struct nbd_handle *’ which manages a single state machine and connection (and therefore no nbd_connection). To connect to a multi-conn server you must

[libnbd PATCH 0/2] Drop generated file from git
Rich recently patched things to generate one man page per function rather than libnbd-api.3 (nice), but in doing so got stumped by a problem with a fresh git clone (automake fails for any 'include' directive that does not already exist). I've figured out how to hack around it, but the hack requires GNU make. We already use GNU make constructs elsewhere (such as $(wildcard)), but

[PATCH libnbd 0/4] lib: Atomically update h->state.
I need to think about this patch series a bit more, but it does at least pass the tests. Rich.

[libnbd PATCH v3 0/7] Avoid deadlock with in-flight commands
Since v2: - rebase to Rich's new API calls - more refactoring in patch 1 (retitled) - new patches 3 and 4 - fix data corruption in patch 6 (was 4) - more tweaks to the reproducer example (including using new API from 3) Eric Blake (7): lib: Refactor command_common() to do more common work commands: Allow for a command queue commands: Expose FIFO ordering of server completions

[PATCH libnbd 0/2] Avoid lock and error overhead on some calls.
This works. I'm in the middle of testing whether there is any noticable benefit. Rich.

[libnbd PATCH v2 00/13] Adding nbd_set_opt_mode to improve nbdinfo
Well, I'm not quite done (I still want to get nbdinfo to work on a single nbd connection for all cases when reading the heads of the file is not required), but I'm happy with patches 1-11, and 12-13 show where I'm headed for getting NBD_OPT_INFO to work. Posting now to see if some of the earlier patches are ready to commit while I continue working on the latter half. Eric Blake (13):

[PATCH libnbd discussion only 0/5] api: Implement concurrent writer.
This works, but there's no time saving and I'm still investigating whether it does what I think it does. Nevertheless I thought I would post it because it (probably) implements the idea I had last night outlined in: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2019-June/msg00010.html The meat of the change is patch 4. Patch 5 is an example which I would probably fold into patch 4 for

[PATCH libnbd 1/4] generator: Allow long ‘name - shortdesc’ in man pages.
For commands with long names and/or short descriptors, you can end up going over 72 characters in the first line of the man page (causing podwrapper to complain). [PATCH libnbd 0/2] api: Add support for AF_VSOCK.
This is a series of patches to libnbd and nbdkit adding AF_VSOCK support. On the host side it allows you to start an nbdkit instance which listens on a virtio-vsock socket: $ ./nbdkit -fv --vsock memory 1G ... nbdkit: debug: bound to vsock 2:10809 On the guest side you can then use libnbd to connect to the server: $ ./run nbdsh -c 'h.connect_vsock(2, 10809)' -c

[libnbd PATCH] api: Add nbd_supports_tls
This is slightly redundant with just trying nbd_set_tls(nbd, 2) then checking for failure; however, this function does not set errors and looks more similar to nbd_supports_uri. --- This is borderline enough that I figured I'd post it to check if we want it. generator/generator | 45 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------- interop/interop.c | 4 ++++ lib/handle.c | 12

[PATCH libnbd 0/2] Change qemu-nbd interop tests to use socket activation.
Now that we have implemented systemd socket activation, we can use this to run qemu-nbd in tests. The first patch leaves some dead code around (the -DSERVE_OVER_TCP=1 path). It's possible we might want to use this to test against a putative future NBD server that only supports TCP, but on the other hand maybe we should just remove it. Tests & valgrind still pass for me. Rich.

[PATCH nbdkit 0/5 NOT WORKING] nbd: Implement command= and socket-fd= parameters.
The first four patches are fairly routine clean up and can be reviewed/applied on their own. The fifth patch is problematic as described below. At the moment if you want to proxy through to qemu-nbd (eg. for handling qcow2 files) it's rather complicated and you end up having to manage the sockets and clean up yourself. However the library we use for the proxying supports a perfectly good
