[PATCH] v2v: remove extra nbdkit bit from documentation (RHBZ#1723305)
Since there is no more need to build nbdkit from sources, then there is
no need to set $PATH with a custom build of nbdkit.
Followup of commit 0704d8eb0bcc8139886eb4291f75a3ca49a91e58.

[PATCH nbdkit] vddk: Disallow password=-
This has been broken since we added the reexec code
(commit 155af3107292c351d54ed42c732f4a67bb9aa910) because it
tried to read the password twice (before and after the reexec) failing
the second time because stdin had already been reopened on /dev/null.
Virt-v2v used this feature, but I will change virt-v2v instead.

[nbdkit PATCH] vddk: Drop support for VDDK 5.1.1
That version depends on libexpat.so but does not ship it, and it
appears that VMware no longer supports it. Since VDDK 5.5.5 (the next
oldest version) dropped support for 32-bit platforms, we can slightly
simplify our code by documenting our minimum supported version.

As written, applies on top of my v3 patch for dlopen; but it would
be easy enough to rebase and take this one now even if we aren't
sure about the dlopen stuff

[PATCH v2v] v2v: -it vddk: Don't use nbdkit readahead filter with VDDK (RHBZ#1832805).
This is the simplest solution to this problem. There are two other
possible fixes I considered:
Increase the documented limit (see
http://libguestfs.org/virt-v2v-input-vmware.1.html#vddk:-esxi-nfc-service-memory-limits).
However at the moment we know the current limit works through
extensive testing (without readahead), plus I have no idea nor any way
to test if larger limits are supported by

[nbdkit PATCH v5 0/4] vddk: Drive library loading from libdir parameter.
Differences from v4:
Patch 1 is simplified: I realized that since we already use -rdynamic
for nbdkit (after all, we WANT our dlopen()d plugins to be able to
call our nbdkit_* exports), it is only a matter of adding dlopen to
the set of symbols that we export. With that done, there is no
separate shared library needed; our dlopen shim is now part of nbdkit
proper, and we don't have to tweak

[PATCH] v2v: Remove ‘-io vimapiver’ option (RHBZ#1527334).
This option was added in error. It never had any effect and now the
nbdkit VDDK plugin ignores it. Virt-v2v users shouldn't have been
using it.
This removes the option completely (so if anyone was using it they
will now get an error).

[PATCH nbdkit 1/2] vddk: Delay loading VDDK until config_complete.
We were previously dlopen-ing it in the load() method. This is very
early and in particular means that the only possible way to configure
where we find the library is through environment variables and not
through config parameters. Also it's not necessary as we don't call
any functions from the library (such as VixDiskLib_InitEx) until
config_complete.
This change is neutral refactoring

[nbdkit PATCH v4 0/4] vddk: Drive library loading from libdir parameter.
I'm a lot happier with this version: no mucking with dlmopen(). It
does add a bit more coupling between nbdkit proper and the vddk plugin
(namely, nbdkit now exports a new function that the vddk plugin relies
on), but patch 2 adds testsuite coverage of the new function so we
shouldn't regress.
Patch 1 and 2 are new, patch 3 is unchanged from when Rich posted it
in v2, and patch 4 is

[nbdkit PATCH] plugin: add and use nbdkit_realpath
Introduce a new helper function to resolve a path name, calling
nbdkit_error on failure: other than doing what nbdkit_absolute_path
does, it also checks that the file exist (and thus avoid errors later
on).
Apply it where an existing path is required, both in nbdkit itself and
in plugins.

[PATCH 00/11] v2v: Change virt-v2v to use nbdkit for input in several modes.
This series (except the last one) changes virt-v2v to use nbdkit for
several input modes:
-i vmx -it vddk: No change in functionality, as this already uses
nbdkit-vddk-plugin, but the code is refactored for the other modes to
use.
-i libvirtxml: Use nbdkit-curl-plugin instead of qemu curl.
vCenter: Use nbdkit-curl-plugin instead of qemu curl.
xen: Use nbdkit-ssh-plugin instead of qemu

[nbdkit PATCH v3 0/2] Add nbdkit_realpath
Hi,
this is the v3 of my series for nbdkit_realpath; this series adds an
extra documentation update to nbdkit_absolute_path, documenting when it
can only be used, and then adds nbdkit_realpath.
Thanks,

[PATCH nbdkit NOT WORKING 0/2] vddk: Relax threading model.
I believe this roughly implements Nir's proposal here:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2020-August/msg00028.html
Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. It actually slows things down
quite a lot, for reasons I don't understand. Note the adjustment of
the pool-max parameter and how it affects the total time. The results
are quite reproducible.

Thoughts on nbdkit automatic reconnection
We have a running problem with the nbdkit VDDK plugin where the VDDK
side apparently disconnects or the network connection is interrupted.
During a virt-v2v conversion this causes the entire operation to fail,
and since v2v conversions take many hours that's not a happy outcome.
(Aside: I should say that we see many cases where it's claimed that
the connection was dropped, but often when

[nbdkit PATCH v7 0/2] vddk: Drive library loading from libdir parameter.
In v7:
everything should work now! The re-exec code is slightly simplified,
with Rich's suggestion to pass the original LD_LIBRARY_PATH rather
than just the prefix being added, and I've now finished wiring up the
initial dlopen() check into code that correctly computes the right
prefix dir to add to LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
