[PATCH v2 3/5] lib: qemu: Run QMP ‘query-commands’, ‘query-qmp-schema’ against the qemu binary.
This adds two extra tests using QMP (the QEMU Monitor Protocol). This allows us to get extra information about the qemu binary beyond what is available from the version number or ‘qemu -help’. --- lib/qemu.c | 177 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- 1 file changed, 175 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/lib/qemu.c b/lib/qemu.c index bdd9947a8..34775041f 100644

[PATCH v2 0/5] launch: direct: Disable qemu locking when opening drives readonly (RHBZ#1417306)
Patches 1-4 are almost the same as they are when previously posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00039.html Patch 5 actually uses the mandatory locking test to turn off locking in the narrow case where a drive is opened readonly, and then only for the drive being inspected. Passes ordinary tests (‘check-direct’ and ‘check-valgrind-direct’). Rich.

[PATCH] lib: direct: Query qemu binary for availability of KVM (RHBZ#1605071).

[PATCH 0/4] lib: qemu: Add test for mandatory locking.
The patch I posted last week to disable mandatory locking for readonly drives (https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00013.html) was wrong in a couple of respects. Firstly it didn't work, which I didn't detect because my tests were testing the wrong thing. Oops. Secondly it used a simple version number check to detect qemu binaries implementing mandatory locking.

[PATCH v3 0/6] launch: direct: Disable qemu locking when opening drives readonly.
v2 -> v3: - I addressed everything that Pino mentioned last time. - It's tricky to get a stable run when multiple copies of qemu are involved, because the same cache files get overwritten by parallel libguestfs. So I changed the names of the cache files to include the qemu binary key (size, mtime), which removes this conflict. This is in new patch 4/6. Rich.

[PATCH 12/27] daemon: Reimplement ‘file_architecture’ API in OCaml.
The previously library-side ‘file_architecture’ API is reimplemented in the daemon, in OCaml. There are some significant differences compared to the C implementation: - The C code used libmagic. That is replaced by calling the ‘file’ command (because that is simpler than using the library). - The C code had extra cases to deal with compressed files. This is not necessary since the

[PATCH] lib: Pick up qemu-img path at build time.
The main purpose of this change is two-fold: (1) Ensure that we run the same version of qemu-img that we are built against. (2) Allow the qemu-img path to be overridden at build time in case it's on a nonstandard path or (like RHV) has a nonstandard name. --- docs/guestfs-building.pod | 6 ++++++ lib/command.c | 4 ++-- lib/create.c | 4 ++-- lib/info.c

Unable to use more than 4 serial devices at once.
Hi All. I'm trying to setup a guest within my hypervisor that acts as a Console Server, using 10 USB to Serial adapters. The Host is all setup and can access each Serial Port without problems. I have attempted to add the Serial Connections to a Guest, using both Virtual Machine Manager and by editing the .XML file, and I can add up to 4 Serial devices (Including one for console access to the

New Guess OS Creation Problem
Hi All, I am running on CentOS Released 6.1 final. Been using and running Linux KVM quite well for quite some time, something goes wrong after I perform yum upgrade. I created new VM yesterday without any problem, same exact installation procedure, installed FreeBSD 8.2. I tried to create a new VM today after yum upgrade, it's able to detect the hard disk, when I start commit FreeBSD 8.2

When i shutdown these two guests with the virt-manager, they shutdown fine. ACPI is activated in virt-manager for both of them. Acpid is running in the Ubuntu Client. When the host shuts down, the two guests get a

qemu-kvm fails on RHEL6
Hi, When I'm trying to run qemu-kvm command on RHEL6(linux kernel 2.6.32) then I get following errors which I think related to tap devices in my setup.
