Closing loop: How-to for NVIDIA driver on Xen Dom0
I had a couple comments on my proposal to write a how-to
on NVIDIA on Xen Dom0:
Marcus:
I would rather prefer if you could take care of the current Xen
articles on the wiki, first. They are quite outdated.

I don't consider myself an expert on all things Xen. In reviewing the
material on the CentOS Wiki regarding Xen, I felt the articles were
pretty well done (even if they were

CentOS 5 and ndiswrapper
This is an abbreviated version of an e-mail that I also posted to the
ndiswrapper mailing list. Compressing the long story, I ran into the
same problem using CentOS 5 as I had with Fedora Core 6 and ndiswrapper:
my laptop (HP Pavilion zv6000 series with a Broadcom BCM43xx wireless
NIC) would lock up or spontaneously reboot after a few hours if I
brought up the wireless interface. I also

execute a context from cron
I want to have call forwarding (from the POTS) turned on at the close of work
and turned off automatically by *.
I can create a context that should do just that, but I need a way to have that
context spontaneously executed at a specific time.
I figured that one way to do it would be to have cron run "asterisk -rx<some
command>" if there were some command that would tell asterisk

Samba "hijack" the connection?
Dear all,
I have 2 domains: JUPITER.COM (Samba 3.0.23c - Centos5) and WIN.COM (Windows
2000 Adv Srv). I join a windows XP SP1 (MOON), first to Windows domain and
then to Samba's.
The problem is when I join the XP to Samba's and then try to logon to WIN.COM,
the XP is instead logon to Samba, thus the username is not found. The DNS is
not a problem, I set the DNS of the XP to

Installed RVM-Ruby-Rails NOT available after closing terminal window!!
I have installed rvm-ruby-rails (all latest versions) and it works

Once i close it and open new terminal window; all of them disappear/

If i install them again, in that window they work fine. It''s very
varied. Any comments/help appreciated.
I''m using Ubuntu Linux 11.04.

R process gets killed spontaneously
My R process has been killed for a few times, although the system
administrator did not do so. It happened when R attempted to allocate
a lot of memory. I'm wondering whether R would spontaneously kill
itself if it can not allocate enough memory?

Why was my R process killed spontaneously?
I tried to use gpuCor function in the gputools package of R to calcuate the
pairwise correlations of a matrix of 40,000 columns.
Becuase there would be memory issues if I use the whole matrix at a time, I
splitted the matrix into submatrix of 10,000 columns and then calculate the
pairwise correlation of different submatrices. There are altogether 4
submatrices, so I need to calculate the pearson

yum and wildcard problems
I am having trouble using wildcards ("*") with yum in Centos 5. Listing
or installing packages using them just immeidately fails with a "No match"
error, and I'm not sure why. Here is an example. Any comments? I'd love
to fix this.

CentOS 5 dual boot with XP success
Hello. A happy, error-free report about my experiences last night. Only
one small inconvenience in the install.
I have an AMD Athlon64 3700+ in a MSI Neo2-F motherboard (Via K8T800 Pro
chipset), with a WD Raptor SATA drive and an older WD 80gig IDE drive.
The system has 1 gig of RAM and a CDROM (not DVD). The on-board network
is a Realtek 8169/8110 chip. My video is a 6800GT (AGP).

odd 'digital' sound artifacts
Hi,
I've got some weird sound artifacts happening during calls, they're very
hard to describe, so I have a 122kb recording:
http://openprojects.rarcoa.com/~miztic/artifact.wav
normally the artifacts are just short blips, not quite as long as the
one above, but they sound the same.
When using the aggressive echo suppressor, it seems like those artifacts
cause a really loud buzzing sound to

No Centos5 update announcements yet
What about the update announcements for Centos5? There was nothing
posted to centos-announce yet for the updates that have been released
so far for Centos5. Also, the centos-announce mailing list options
page does not know about Centos5 yet.
Best regards,

Issues with stat() call on CentOS5 vs CentOS4
Dear CentOS,
I have recently upgraded several servers from CentOS4 to CentOS5 and I am
noticing a strange change to the stat() call. I have written a very
small program to test and show the behavior. I am calling stat()
against a file which is exported from my NAS and mounted with 32k
read/write sizes.
[dougalb at centos4 tmp]$ cat my_stat.c
#include <unistd.h>
#include <stdio.h>

SWAT is working but shows smbd/nmbd: not running
Hi all,
I had nForce3 motherboard that has broken. Than I bought nForce4
motherboard. I connected old hard disk to this new nForce4 motherboard. For
net and sound support I download drivers from nvidia.com site. This driver
asks kernel source to be on local disk and gcc compiler.
After I installed kernel source and gcc, driver is successfully installed.

SPA-841 spontaneous voicemail problem
Hello.
A while back, I noticed an odd problem with our SPA-841 phones connected
to Asterisk. Now we are having a different odd problem, and I'm not sure
if they're related. I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything
else like this, and/or if there is any reasonable explanation?
Occasionally, one of our SPA-841's will spontaneously start up with

Is there a howto for using redboot to kickoff a pxelinux boot?
The subject says it all.
I'm using rocks cluster software to startup a small blade cluster in my
lab. The blades I have redboot installed on them. I am able to boot
any client that has pxeboot capability using my setup, except for these
blades. My thoughs were using redboot commands to do the following:
1. load -v -r -b 0x8000000 -h 10.1.1.1 pxelinux.0
2. start
This however caused my

CentOS5 and samba
We're trying to migrate RHEL3 and CentOS4 based samba servers over to CentOS5,
but it's a bleeding disaster. We cannot get it to work reliably with any
version of CentOS5, i386 or x86_64, the included 3.0.x version of samba or
3.4.x/3.5.x compiled from source.
The symptoms are: read access is extremely slow, write access seems to work
in principle (e.g. creating a zeros-sized file on
