[PATCH v7 4/6] v2v: Add general mechanism for input and output options (-io/-oo).
Currently we have a bunch of ad hoc options like --vddk* and --vdsm* (and proposed to add --rhv*) to handle extra parameters for input and output modes/transports. This complicates the command line parsing and also the clarity of the command line (becauseit's not very obvious which options apply to which side of the conversion). Replace these with a general mechanism for handling input and

I still have not found time to fully review the series, but I found out that this patch breaks VDDK. See below. On Thu, 22 Mar 2018 15:24:23 +0000 "Richard W.M. [PATCH INCOMPLETE 0/4] v2v: Add general mechanism for input and output options.
This patch isn't quite complete (see ‘assert false’).

[PATCH v2 1/2] v2v: vddk: Switch to using ‘-it vddk’ to specify VDDK as input transport.
Previously the presence of the ‘--vddk <libdir>’ option magically enabled VDDK mode. However we want to introduce other transports for VMware conversions so this wasn't a very clean choice. With this commit you must use ‘-it vddk’ to specify that you want VDDK as a disk transport. The previous ‘--vddk <libdir>’ option has been renamed to ‘--vddk-libdir <libdir>’ to be

[PATCH v7 0/6] v2v: Add -o rhv-upload output mode (RHBZ#1557273).
v6 was here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2018-March/msg00126.html This makes a number of significant changes: - Input and output options now use a uniform set of -io and -oo parameters. - For -o rhv-upload, we use ‘-oo rhv-cafile=/tmp/ca.pem’ etc. The ‘--rhv*’ options have been dropped. - Rearranges the documentation. - As before includes (untested) support for zero,

[PATCH v4 01/12] v2v: Factor out the nbdkit VDDK code into a new module.
This refactoring takes the nbdkit-specific code from the ‘-it vddk’ mode and puts it into a separate module. The idea is to reuse this module (in future commits) to support ssh, curl and rate limiting. This refactoring is not quite neutral because it moves some of the prechecking into the Nbdkit.create function. This means it will happen a little bit later in the cycle (in input#source instead

[PATCH] RFC: v2v: add and use libvirt connection objects
Enhance the Libvirt_utils module with libvirt connection objects, and read-only and read-writen open functions for them; adapt the rest of the mini-binding to use these objects, instead of opening + closing libvirt connections every time. This has different improvements: a) a libvirt connection is reused for different API calls, improving the communication with remote (input) servers b)

Proposed small change to the command line of virt-v2v when specifying that you want VDDK mode. Rich.

[PATCH v2 0/2] v2v: Add -it vddk and -it ssh flags.
The first patch was previously posted here: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-December/msg00018.html That patch hasn't changed except that I made the ‘input_transport’ variable type-safe. The second patch adds a significant new mode for liberating data from VMware: the ability to copy VMs over SSH directly from ESXi hypervisors. Although this requires enabling SSH access (a

[v2v PATCH] -i libvirt: print URI without connecting
Pass (again) around the libvirt URI string in the various input_libvirt subclasses so that input_libvirt#as_options does not need to connect to print the connection URI. As related change: pass input_conn as non-optional string parameter in classes that require one (all but input_libvirt_other, basically). This avoids the need for extra checks. --- v2v/input_libvirt.ml | 10

[PATCH] v2v: Use cacheextents if possible for vddk input
It does not need configuring and speeds up the process of requesting extents if the client asks for them one by one (like qemu-img). [PATCH 01/11] v2v: Move have_selinux to utils.
This is not quite a neutral refactoring, because it means we now run the getenforce command every time virt-v2v starts up. However it's a trivial command that reads a single /sys file and it can't fail even if the command is missing or on platforms that know nothing about SELinux. --- v2v/input_libvirt_vddk.ml | 4 ---- v2v/output_rhv_upload.ml | 4 ---- v2v/utils.ml | 4

[PATCH] Use proper label for nbdkit sockets
While svirt_t can be used for sockets it does not always guarantee that it will be accessible from a virtual machine. The VM might be running under svirt_tcg_t context which will need a svirt_tcg_t label on the socket in order to access it. There is, however, another label, svirt_socket_t, which is accessible from virt_domain: # sesearch -A -s svirt_t -c unix_stream_socket -p connectto ...

[PATCH v4 3/7] v2v: switch to ocaml-libvirt
Currently virt-v2v has few custom C-based functions for libvirt operations, which are limited in what they do, and there is a lot of duplicated code. Instead, switch to ocaml-libvirt for all the libvirt interaction currently done by the Libvirt_utils module. This has few advantages: - each input & output module now opens a libvirt connection only once, only when needed - no need to pass

rpm/yum/repo issue - Error: Package tuple could not be found in packagesack
Hi guys, I've been working on a yum repo for PHP 5.2 and today I wanted to update it[1], however on a test machine using my PHP packages (e.g. php-common-5.2.16-1nux) a yum update to the new RPMs with version 5.2.17 gives the following error: "Error: Package tuple ('php-common', 'i386', '0', '5.2.17', '1nux') could not be found in
