[PATCH] xen PVonHVM: require at least Xen 3.4 as dom0
The XenPVHVM extensions have not been tested much on very old
hypervisors. At least Xen 3.4 gets some testing with the pvops kernel.
Require at least Xen 3.4 for the PVonHVM extensions. If an older
hypervisor is detected the extensions will be disabled and the guest
will only see emulated hardware.

Bug#773561: Installing "xen-linux-system-amd64" on jessie fails
Hello Ian,
i?ve tried to install "xen-linux-system-amd64" on a VMware host again and everything went fine. The Installation completes and i can boot into Xen und boot up the Dom0.
So, you were right. It seems to be a problem with the initscript, but as far as i can tell, only when running xen under xen.
To me, this specific issue is resolved, since the meta-package seems to install

no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap + no-intremap = BOOM with Xen 4.4 (no-intremap by itself OK).
Hey
I wanted to try my hand at doing some GPU passthrough so on my ASUS
M5A97 which in the pass worked with an older BIOS (but said BIOS
had issues after S3 suspend) - but with a BIOS the PCI passthrough does
not work. That is due to::

Bug#773561: Installing "xen-linux-system-amd64" on jessie fails
Hi Sydney,
Thanks for all the info. I'd like to have the initscript work sensibly
in this scenario at some point (not for Jessie though, it's too late
now) so I think we may as well keep this bug around to track that since
it already contains a bunch of useful information.
Thanks,
Ian.

Xen 4.1.2 / Fedora 16 pv domU does not show Anaconda
Hi all. I''m mostly experienced with Xen 3.0-3.4 so forgive my
ignorance. I''m trying to launch FC16 in rescue mode, which works fine
with FC14 and Xen 3.4-PAE (but not newer Fedoras because they stopped
compiling them with PAE so I gather). When it boots and gets to the
point where it loads Anaconda, nothing else happens on the console. I
know console variables are at least

virt-sysprep: error: no operating systems were found in the guest image on libguestfs-1.36.5
Hi all,
I encountered the following error when I tried to run virt-sysprep on a qcow2 image.
virt-sysprep: error: no operating systems were found in the guest image
The version I used for libguest is as follows:
[libguestfs-1.36.5]
The same issue happened on other versions such as libguestfs-1.32.7.

Trying to get a kernel dump
Trying to debug a database server getting cpu softlocks causing SSHD to
hang and not let anybody log in. Figured that a good first step would be
to get some kernel dumps when the problem occurs. According to what I
read at the following web site, I can get dumps for softlock problems
too. Here's the site:

Stall on CPU
Hi,
I have been receiving messages on a new DomU''s kern.log. I''ve done a lot
of googling, but haven''t came up with anything very useful, at least not
in a Xen context.
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what could be wrong.
From everything I have read, there should be a stack trace included, but
I am not seeing one.
Thanks in advance,
Ian.

Hi all,
Sorry for bothering you in this dev mailing list, I'm using libguestfs to
customize some vm using as bases the ubuntu cloud images.
But I noticed that it takes a lot and then fails when trying to install a
packet.
Same behaviour on Ubuntu 18.04 and Centos 7.5
