ralink rt61 in centos 5
Hello, Does anybody knows if the rt61 driver from rt2x00.serialmonkey.com works under centos 5? And if so, what is the recommended command to build this driver from sources, 'make install' or 'make install-fedora'? Thanks a lot! I need this driver for my ralink wlan card on my notebook. I also could build this driver under a fresh centos 5 installation, but it freezes my notebook

System freezes with i8042_panic_blink on suspend
Hello, I am using CentOS 4.6 (2.6.9-67.plus.c4) on a toshiba tecra 8000 notebook. If closing the panel, "Panel Power On/Off" is enabled in bios, the notebook does suspend. But after opening the panel, the notebook completely freezes. If the suspend only takes a few minutes, then everything is working fine. But if the suspend takes a time more than five or ten minutes, the system

[PATCH] average: change to declare precision, not factor
From: Johannes Berg <johannes.berg at intel.com> Declaring the factor is counter-intuitive, and people are prone to using small(-ish) values even when that makes no sense. Change the DECLARE_EWMA() macro to take the fractional precision, in bits, rather than a factor, and update all users. While at it, add some more documentation. 5-in-1 Card Reader in Acer Extensa 5220
Hello, I have installed CentOS 5 (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5) on my new Acer Extensa 5220 notebook and everything seems to work fine except of the following: 1) Display is ok, but could maybe be better? The driver is set to 'vesa' but should be 'intel', in my opinion. But 'intel' isn't working in xorg.conf. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960

WPA question
HI I admit up front that I know just enough about wireless networking to know that I don't know much at all about it. That said, I'm hoping someone can help me learn a little bit... Specifically, could a laptop running Centos 5.1 be expected to (be able to) connect to a wireless access point using WPA2 security settings? I don't know if WPA depends on hardware support, or if

Strange: wireless card shouldn't work, but it works ?!?
Hi, I know this is a rather unusual request. Normally, people would complain about a card that *should* work, but here goes. I have a series of machines in a computer room, all equipped with a RT2561 wireless card. CentOS doesn't include support for that card, so what I usually do to install a system: 1) Install a *very* minimal base system (the bare minimum). 2) Install some

Introduction
Hi, I'm a 40-year old sysadmin living in Montpezat, a small village in the sunny south of France. I'm a Linux user since 2001, when I made my first steps on a 486 with a Slackware 7.1 CD. I've tried maybe two dozen distributions, but I've stayed mostly with Slackware and Debian. Since last summer, I work as a sysadmin for our "Communaut? de Communes", a group of 16

FreeBSD Wifi/Run0
Hello, I am looking for developer(s) to assist with two separate capabilities as contributions back to the community. 1) The ability to send management frames in wifi monitor mode with the run0 driver using the Ralink RT6390. 2) I would also like to get HostAP working with the same Ralink RT6390 radio. WEP, WPA and WPA2 support are required for wifi Access Point mode. Please feel free to

Network configuration question
Hi, My wife and I live in a two-storey flat, and we have a small home LAN (100% CentOS 5) with a "classical" configuration: On the ground floor, there is the telephone jack with the DSL modem router (192.168.1.254). This modem has a mini-switch with two Ethernet jacks to it, and the two are used by: - the server (192.168.1.1), a "black box" running in a cupboard 24/7 -

New wireless controller
I just installed an Asus PCE-n13 wireless card into one of my CentOS 5.6 systems. It uses the RaLink 2680 chip set and I was able to get the driver loaded using modprobe rt2x00pci.ko. I saw no error and now see that the module is loaded along with mac80211 and other dependencies. Now I need to know how to create the wlan0 device. I can find nothing via Google searches on how to create that
