Revisiting minimum OCaml version
Previously discussed: https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00203.html Currently libguestfs and virt-v2v require OCaml >= 4.01. (That's perhaps theoretical, as I don't think anyone is really compiling them with such an old compiler). This causes a bunch of trouble. To my mind the major things are: - Having to have the "Bytes" compatibility module

[PATCH] generator: Sort the structs.
Sort the structs when generating code. Since the structs are logically indepedent of each other, this should have no effect except to make generated files list the structs in a different order. However this also fixes the following build problem: File "convert_linux.ml", line 322, characters 43-50: Error: This expression has type G.stat = Guestfs.stat but an expression was

[PATCH 1/3] ocaml: dynamically generate the content of Guestfs.Errno
Put in a list the errnos to expose, filling the content of the Guestfs.Errno submodule from that. Also, generate a separate guestfs-c-errnos.c with the implementations of the functions returning the errno codes. Only code motion and refactoring, no actual changes on the content of the ocaml Guestfs module. --- .gitignore | 1 + generator/main.ml | 1 + generator/ocaml.ml | 77

[PATCH 3/6] daemon: Refine check for Device and Dev_or_Path parameters (RHBZ#1477623).
For Device parameters we expect a block device name. However we were only testing for "/dev/..." and so chardevs (from the appliance) could be passed here, resulting in strange effects. This adds a function is_device_parameter which tests for a valid block device name. For Dev_or_Path parameters much the same, except we can also use the is_device_parameter function elsewhere in the

Re: [PATCH 3/3] v2v: add -o json output mode
If we pushed the baseline of OCaml up by (I think) just a single version then most of this code could be generated automatically from the description in the Types module. It would rely on the "new" (actually rather old) feature called extension points (ppx) which I think was added in 4.02. However in its own terms the idea behind this patch is fine. As I said in the previous email

[PATCH 2/3] mllib: expose disk decrypt functionalities
Expose via Common_utils the C functions & variables (part of guestfish) that handle decryption of LUKS partitions, and the additional command line arguments to tune the way they work. This way it will be easy to provide (basic) crypto support also in OCaml-based tools. Related to: RHBZ#1362649 --- mllib/Makefile.am | 3 ++ mllib/common_utils-c.c | 75

[nbdkit PATCH] ocaml: Add support for dynamic .thread_model
We do not promise API stability for non-C languages; this is an API break as follows: instead of calling 'NBDKit.register_plugin model plugin' with a static model, you can now add .thread_model :(unit -> thread_model) to plugin or default to PARALLEL. Since all existing OCaml plugins will have already thought about thread models, they can convert their existing model into the new

[nbdkit PATCH] ocaml: Support .preconnect callback
Somewhat of a mishmash between .open (in that it takes a bool readonly parameter) and .config_complete (in that the C code returns an int, but the Ocaml code either throws an exception or completes with unit). I did not spot any existing testsuite coverage to modify for this, and am relying on the fact that it compiles cleanly. Signed-off-by: Eric Blake <eblake@redhat.com> ---

[LLVMdev] improving the ocaml binding's type safety
For all LLVM users out there: what kinds of errors do you spend the most time debugging? You might also consider building a data structure on the OCaml side that is equivalent to the LLVM code: module Op = struct type int_op = [ `IAdd | ... ]

[PATCH 4/4] OCaml tools: output messages into JSON for machine readable
When the machine readable mode is enabled, print all the messages (progress, info, warning, and errors) also as JSON in the machine readable stream: this way, users can easily parse the status of the OCaml tool, and report that back. The formatting of the current date time into the RFC 3999 format is done in C, because of the lack of OCaml APIs for this. --- common/mltools/Makefile.am | 2

OCaml 4.09.0 rebuild complete in Rawhide (was: Re: OCaml 4.09.0 will be added to Fedora 32 via a side tag)
This is now complete and soon the new packages will be merged into Fedora Rawhide: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2019-2e0b2d6395 A few non-critical packages failed to build, and I will look at these later unless someone gets around to it before me. The failures are listed at the end. Notable changes: - Release notes: https://ocaml.org/releases/4.09.0.html - ocaml-camlp4
