Framemaker 7.0
I spent the morning hacking around with Wine 20040121 and Framemaker 7.0. The
install appears to go off without a hitch aside from menubuilder problems,
but the application terminates before anything interesting happens. I tried
running as version win2k and win95, with and without dcom95.
Has anyone had any better success with Framemaker recently?
Thanks,

Hint for Wine + Type1 + FrameMaker / Update for the Font HOWTO
Hi Avi,
Having spend endless hours looking for how to make Wine and Type1 fonts
working together. I finally decided to convert my Type1 fonts to Truetype
(after a hint by someone that Wine does not have Type1/Adobe support).
Note: I'm not sure if this is true since there is a wine [afmdirs] section
in the wine config. Wine still had troubles with (at least) some of the
files.

FrameMaker/MIF driver
Hello -
1. Is there any way to directly export R plots to MIF format
for import into FrameMaker?
2. If not, how hard would it be to add such a device driver?
I don't see device driver docs in the R extensions docs.
Are drivers contained in their own source files with simple
interfaces to the data structures with plot data?
3. If that's difficult, what workarounds are

Framemaker emulation
I would like to know if there's anybody who has emulated Framemaker
for Windows under Linux. I've tried but I get a problem with the fonts.
It says that I have not fonts available.
Can anybody help me? I would be very pleased if you've got an
answer.
Thank you.

close to running framemaker 8
Hello felllow wine users,
Using some of the dll packages from my vista machine, I managed to complete the installation of framemaker 8.
When the application is run for the first time, it asks for the EULA to be accepted. The first time this happened, wine asked to install 'Gecko' for html to display (im assuming the EULA is a form based in html). The buttons to accept, reject and cancel

FrameMaker 6.0 problem - further information
I originally posted that I have been unable to run FrameMaker 6.0 under wine.
Frame complains that it can't find printer fonts (whatever that means) and it
prompts to see if I want to edit the registry.
As requested by a couple of responders, I ran wine with font debugging on.
Attached is the last 200 line of the log before the call to MessageBox().
Any ideas would be appreciated. Since

Framemaker: don't know...
I read your message, but I don't even know the
product.
Still, good luck to you.
(I know it is important to know your message has been
read, even if the answers are not what you want ;-)

A read.table mystery (data for Framemaker Mac)
Dear list,
I have to read some clinical data a file coming from Filemaker on
Macintosh (Ugh ! But it could be worse and come from Excel...).
Exporting via Excel is out of question since the file has 467 columns
and 121 lines (+ headers), which is out of reach of Excel. So I received
an "mer"" files, which is what Filemaker exports as a text file.
It seems to be a semicolon

iaxy vs sipura
I need a cheap simple adaptor for analog phones to use with Asterisk. It
should be some kind of "configure and forget" type of device, to use at
the office, or just throw it in a road warrior's bag and use it while
travelling, to call back to the "mothership".
I can't decide between iaxy and sipura. Can you guys help? Which one
would you use? (and why?)
I feel that iaxy

When I think of FrameMaker, I think of the program that started out on Solaris, then moved to other big iron Unices and OS X. Wikipedia informs me that

problem with DivX9 and winetricks
HI
Trying to install Divx9 using winetricks. Using Ubuntu 8.10 and have cabextract installed, and my graphics card has it's driver installed (NVIDIA GEforce FX 5200).
Installation seems to go ok but does not re-start machine and there appear to be error messages in the terminal window, despite the fact that it says DivX is isntalled.

Not sure whether the R pdf driver is the problem, or some HP problem, or
local, but the zip file below has a simple R script [pdfbug.r] using pdf

EPS
Perhaps this has been mentioned and I wasn't paying attention. When I try to
import a postscript file (which is EPS according to the R help on postscript) my
Framemaker filter chokes. If I simply edit the first line of the file to put
%!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0
rather than
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
it works just fine. It sure would be simpler if the postscipt driver put this in
the file.

compiling R for SGI IRIX
When I attempt to compile R, I immediately get the error:
'make: file `Makefile' line 49: bad character & (octal 46)
*** Error code 1 (bu21)'
I have looked at line 49 of each of the makefiles and none of them seem
to contain this character.
Any suggestions?

Frame Maker 6.0
I'm trying to get Frame to run under Wine. It comes up with the message:
There are no fonts available on the printer. Cannot start FrameMaker.
I added "printer=on" to my config file, but that didn't make any difference.
I am also prompted to see if I want to add an entry to "C:\Windows\fmreg.reg",
to which I always answer no.
I'm using the
