[PATCH v3 0/5] v2v: more control over device types
The decision on which device type to use for disks, network and video cards on output used to be taken deep inside the converting functions. This is not always desirable. In particular, there are scenarios when this decision is made before the convertion takes place. E.g. in in-place mode, the decisions are taken and the output VM configuration is created outside of v2v tool. This patchset

[PATCH 0/6] v2v: Add drivers for virtio-rng, balloon, pvpanic.
Yaniv pointed out in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1438794 that virt-v2v both doesn't install the virtio-rng driver for Windows, and doesn't give the guest a virtio-rng PCI device either. There are two problems here: Firstly the Windows virtio-rng driver isn't included in the exploded tree (/usr/share/virtio-win) so it doesn't get copied into the guest. The solution

[PATCH] v2v: add support for virtio-scsi
Virtio-SCSI offers a number of advantages over virtio-blk, in particular, it supports SCSI UNMAP (aka trim) which is crucial for keeping the virtual drive from wasting host disk space. This patch adds support for virtio-scsi as the virtual disk connection type both on input and on output of v2v. Virtio-blk remains the default, so for now virtio-scsi-based guests can only be produced in

[PATCH 1/2] v2v: fix and implify the internal Convert_linux:discover_modpath
First check for the existence of the directory /etc/modprobe.d, in case using a file under it; this also skips all the other checks, since they are not needed at all. Also /etc/modprobe.d exists on recent Linux versions, so let's give priority to the more common methods. When /etc/modprobe.d does not exist, check for the file to edit using a single list of possible files, now in order of

[PATCH] v2v: linux: Move kernel detection to a separate module.
This is a sort of follow-up to the Linux_bootloaders patch. It turns out all the kernel detection code is nicely self- contained and can therefore be moved to its own module. Rich.

[V2V PATCH 0/5] Bring support for virtio-scsi back to Windows
Since commits b28cd1dc ("Remove requested_guestcaps / rcaps"), f0afc439 ("Remove guestcaps_block_type Virtio_SCSI") support for installing virtio-scsi driver is missing in virt-v2v. AFAIU plans and demands for bringing this feature back have been out there for a while. E.g. I've found a corresponding issue which is still open [1]. The code in b28cd1dc, f0afc439 was

virt-v2v: Virtio-Scsi patch
Hi, I was trying to migrate some VM's to Virtio-SCSI block devices, as this gives some advantages. While checking the virt-v2v code, I found out that it supported Virtio-SCSI, but some bits were missing. In attachment a small patch that adds the missing bits :) Best regards Jean-Louis

[PATCH 0/8] v2v: first bits of Debian/Ubuntu guests supports
Hi, this series implements the first bits in v2v to convert Debian/Ubuntu (and derived) guests. The series does not complete the support (see known issues below), but all the patches here should be fit for review and inclusion. The series does not enable the conversion, yet. Known issues: * there is no grubby nor Bootloader::Tools Perl module available in Debian, so there is no way to know
