[PATCH v7 00/13] Refactor utilities
This is just the utilities part of the patch series from:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00103.html
I believe this addresses everything raised in comments on that
patch series.

[PATCH 0/2] Build mllib and customize into libraries.
Simplifies the build a bit.
This is on top of the previous SELinux relabelling patch set, although
not related to it.

[PATCH 00/12] Refactor utility functions.
This turned out to be rather more involved than I thought.
We have lots of utility functions, spread all over the repository,
with not a lot of structure. This moves many of them under common/
and structures them so there are clear dependencies.
This doesn't complete the job by any means. Other items I had on my
to-do list for this change were:
- Split up mllib/common_utils into:

[PATCH 2/2] ocaml: fix build with Bytes fallback
Place the Bytes fallback module in the right place (mlstdutils), with no
need to make it available directly also for generation, since it uses
mlstdutils now.
Fixes commit 61d4891ef48df171a27873efe90aab51a9b711ef.

[PATCH v6 00/41] Refactor utilities, reimplement inspection in the daemon.
v5:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00065.html
Since v5, this now implements inspection almost completely for Linux
and Windows guests.

[PATCH v8 00/42] Refactor utilities and reimplement inspection.
v7 was:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00169.html
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-June/msg00184.html
I believe this addresses all comments received so far.
Also it now passes a test where I compared about 100 disk images
processed with old and new virt-inspector binaries. The output is
identical in all cases except one which is caused by a bug in blkid

[PATCH v5 00/32] Refactor utilities, implement some APIs in OCaml.

[PATCH 0/5] mllib: Hide bad String functions and miscellaneous refactoring.
Hide/prevent the use of bad string functions like String.lowercase.
These are replaced by safe functions that won't break UTF-8 strings.
Other miscellaneous refactoring.

[PATCH 0/5] Fix SELinux
We can use the setfiles(8) command to relabel the guest filesystem,
even though we don't have a policy loaded nor SELinux enabled in the
appliance kernel.
This also deprecates or removes the old and broken SELinux support.
This patch isn't quite complete - I would like to add some tests to
the new API. I'm posting here to garner early feedback.

[PATCH v2] common/mlstdutils: Build a bytecode version of this library.
Even if ocamlopt is available, always build a bytecode version of
‘common/mlstdutils’.
Furthermore, because this library is pure OCaml, we should not be
using ‘ocamlmklib’. We should use ‘ocaml{c,opt} -a’ instead. This
doesn't make any difference for native code, but for bytecode it was
building a broken library.
The original reason for making this change is because the generator is

[PATCH 0/3]: daemon: Reimplement ‘file’ API in OCaml.
This patch series is just FYI at the moment. However it
does pass the tests.
The daemon is a self-contained program. We don't need to write it all
in C. Writing parts of it in OCaml would make it simpler and less
error-prone. In particular if the daemon was written in a more sane
programming language then we could move the inspection code to run
entirely inside the appliance, which would

[PATCH 0/9] build: Require OCaml >= 4.02.
Per my previous email:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00203.html
I'd like to talk about requiring a more modern version of the OCaml
compiler.
These commits show some of the code changes which would be possible
with OCaml >= 3.12 [which it turns out we already require by accident]
and also with OCaml >= 4.02. The latter is my favoured option.

[PATCH] generator: Share Common_utils code.
For a very long time we have maintained two sets of utility functions,
in mllib/common_utils.ml and generator/utils.ml. This changes things
so that the same set of utility functions can be shared with both
directories.
It's not possible to use common_utils.ml directly in the generator
because it provides several functions that use modules outside the
OCaml stdlib. Therefore we add some
