[PATCH] daemon: lvm: change the separator character to '\r'
Commit b91b39e06ab7eb9b9b06c8b4dfef2ef9f381ab19 changed the separator to
':', although this creates parsing issues when there are fields with
colons (for example lv_tags=imgbased:pool).
Change once more the separator, but this time using a non-printable
character such as '\r': while it will produce uglier debug logs, this
should greatly reduce the possibilities of conflicts with

[PATCH 4/5] daemon: lvm: list PVs/VGs/LVs with --foreign
The appliance has no LVM system ID set, which means that lvm commands
will ignore VGs with a system ID set to anything. Since we want to work
with them, pass --foreign at least when listing them to see them.
See also lvmsystemid(7).

[PATCH] guestfish: Enable grouping in string lists
This change adds the ability to group entries in a string list with single
quotes. So the string:
"'foo bar'"
becomes 1 token rather than 2. Consequently single quotes must now be escaped:
"\'"
resolves to a literal single quote.
Incidentally, this change also alters another, probably unintentional behaviour
of the previous implementation, in that tokens are

[PATCH] Fix various -Wformat problems.
Updating gnulib has caused -Wformat-signedness to be enabled. This
has revealed many problems in C format strings. The fixes here fall
into the following main categories:
- Using %d with an unsigned parameter.
- %x and %o expect an unsigned argument.
- uid_t and gid_t are unsigned on Linux. The safe way to print these
is to cast them to uintmax_t and then print then using the %ju

[PATCH 1/2] Convert all TABs-as-indentation to spaces.
Per discussion on IRC, here are two changes to
convert all TABs-as-indentation to spaces.
The first one is the fully-automated conversion.
However, note that the command mentioned uses a file
(the .x-sc* one) that is added only in the following patch.
The second patch adds rules to help keep things that way:
Document and enforce the new spaces-only indentation policy.

Log question
development.log contains quite a few SELECTS on system tables like
COLUMNS. Wouldn''t it be more efficient to cache this info?
I''m also wondering about strings like "[4;35;1m". What''s their purpose
and is it possible to get rid of them? They look like screen coordinates
and makes no sense in a text file.

problems with migrations in sql server
Is anyone using migrations with a SQL Server database who might be able to
lend me a hand? I''ve used migrations with MySql in the past and haven''t
run into any issues so forgive When I run rake migrate nothing is actually
getting updated in my database. I created a migration using
./script/generate migration AddFooTable and updated the migration to look as

Unhelpful error message when matching hosts in access list [PATCH]
Greetings,
As previously reported by me to the Debian bug tracking system:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An access list in rsyncd.conf may contain hostnames as well as
addresses. It may contain several patterns to match against.
address_match (in access.c) does this by trying to match hostname and
address against each of the patterns until a match is

Reshaping dataframes
Hi,
I have a data set with variables that are _not_ missing at random. Now I
use a package for learning a Bayesian Network which won't accept NA as a
value. From a database I query data.frames with k,k+n,k+2n, ... variables
(there are always at least k variables as leftmost columns). Using
rbind.fill from the reshape package on two data frames I would get a data
frame like

Fixing exclude/exclude wildcard handling
Here's a first cut at replacing the fnmatch() call with some code that
knows how to distinguish "**" from "*" and also knows how to match at
the tail-end of the path (at any point following a slash). The new
function is based on Rich Salz's wildmat() code, which means that it
doesn't currently handle "[::alpha::]" style character classes. If we
want that

Storing rsync secrets in LDAP
Hi, a few months ago I posted a message about using LDAP to store rsync secrets in LDAP. I received a response about patching the rsync source code with a patch file. I am now finally getting around to doing this, and when I tried to use the patch command 'patch --verbose ./rsync-2.5.6/authenticate.c rsync-ldap.patch' , it gives me the following error:
Hmm... Looks like a unified diff

Restrict logon to groups of workstations II
After sending my first email, I tried to modify auth/auth_sam.c to
allow groups of workstations to the workstations list. And, for my
surprise (?!) it was quite easy. And worked fine. I use LDAP as sam
backed, and for unix accounts and groups database. I create a test group
"stations" and putted there into two of my workstations. Then I defined
the "sambaUserWorkstations"
