4.4 on Dell D620: widescreenresolution?
Hi, Did anyone manage to get 4.4 working on a Dell D620 laptop? The thing has a 1440x900 LCD screen, but I don't get X the work with that resolution. (lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)) Google suggested to use '915resolution', which I installed (915resolution-0.5.2-1.el4.rf), but that doesn't help. no decorations on 2nd head using nvidia and aiglx
I've successfully set up 3 machines now (2 nvidia and one radeon 7500, all ubuntu gutsy) with compiz and aiglx and have been very happy with compiz on all of them. Scaling is wonderful. I'm trying to do my main workstation now which is a multihead (dual) configuration with an nvidia 6150: 00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51PV [GeForce 6150] (rev a2) Both displays

Super Pro 9.4 / USAF question
Hi all! I tried to install and run Jane's USAF and Super Pro 9.4 with no luck. The game installs fine, but I cannot make it work under Linux (P-IV 2.5 + 1Gb RAM + NVidia 440Go (64Mb) with Ubuntu 9.10 + Wine 1.1.35 + NVidia 96.43.13). The game runs fine in this very same computer under Windows XP, and my computer exceeds by far the game's requirements. The original program (Jane's USAF)

multiple cards and monitors with xrandr and opengl
Hi, Thanks for your advice..! I have a few follow-up questions (tagged below Q1, Q2 and Q3). Any help highly/extremely appreciated. Regarding to "reverse prime", etc. I have read the following page: https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Optimus/ So, if we want a single "macro" xscreen that spans two cards, for example: Card 0, connected to monitor 0 Card 1, connected to

system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor. That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver wasn't available for it, I

Widescreen monitor won't configure to a wide screen
I just put a 1680x1050 LCD monitor on my home system, and I went into system-config-display to configure it as such, and it just won't take. I had to tweak some of the settings by hand, but when I log out, I get the wide screen for both the Nvidia driver splash screen and the login screen. But, when I log in, It jumps back to 1280x1024 and refuses to run in wide screen mode. Here's the

Video driver questions

xorg display problems
Hi all, Up until today everything has been fine with CentOS on my Toshiba laptop. I booted into CentOS 4.3 today and Kudzu detected my video card for some reason. I let it configure it (wish I hadn't now). I can still get in. X and Gnome work. But the video resolution is 800x640. The LCD is capable of 1024x768. I cannot change it using Gnome tools or direct editing of

Centos 5.7, I10 video, 1920x1080 monitor
I have a Centos 5.7 machine with Intel I10 video (built-in, I guess -- this is one of those all-in-one mini terminal things) that I'm trying to put a new 1920x1080 monitor onto, without conspicuous success. Prior to this it's been using a smaller monitor with no issues. Try as I might I can't get the new monitor to run at its 1920x1080 resolution. I just realized that I forgot to

Minimizing WoW - Painfully low FPS
I can play WoW perfectly, it is 100% stable and I can get great fps. One problem though, when I minimize the game and I maximize it, sometimes I can just keep playing happily but sometimes thats not the case. I minimize it, maximize it again and the FPS drops to about 10-20fps (anywhere). As you might know, this is VERY annoying, I've tried changing loads of settings in-game with no help.

CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous (spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected) monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024, nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server

Guild Wars Won't Even Get to Login Screen
Hello, I have been having a very hard time with Guild Wars under Wine, despite it's platinum rating. I have not been able to get to the login screen on any linux distribution I've tried. (Fedora, arch, even ubuntu). It loads the game files on the ArenaNet loading screen, but soon experiences an unrecoverable graphics error. Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer. When I run xrandr, I get this output: Code: Screen 0: minimum 2960 x 1050, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 2960 x 1050 default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm 2960x1050 50.0* I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When

Does CentOS support dual graphics cards with 2 monitors each?
I have a user who wants to have 4 monitors attached to his CentOS 6.4 system. I know that you can't use both on-board video and a PCI video card at the same time, but what about two PCI video cards? The system seems to recognize them as shown by the lspci -v output below, but I can't get Xorg to use the second card. Has anyone done this? If so, what is the trick to get it to work?

Steam Apps freezing
I'm using wine to run Steam based games like Counterstrike and Day of Defeat. This generally works well but from time to time the games radomly freeze(about every hour or so). To get further information I made an error.log(see below) and googled the error. I found quite some information but no way to solve the problem. Any ideas, assumptions...? ##Information on the system## Linux

1680x1050 Monitor
Hi, I just got a new Samsung 226bw 22" wide monitor to replace my previous one. I also have a nvidia 8600gts video card. I can set interactively [through the nvidia-settings utility] the 1680 by 1050 resolution. I have saved the settings in the xorg.conf, but I can't keep it after a restart of X or a reboot. When I restart X, the login is at: 1680 by 1050, then it switches to 1280 by

Strange behavior in X, esp. VMWare Windows
Last Thursday, for some reason (possibly a power failure), my work desktop had a different video configuration than when I left Wednesday evening. I have two 17" flat panels configured as a two-head wide (side-by-side) single display. When I arrived on Thu, I had two individual desktops instead, the resolution was down to 800x600, and so on. The monitor type had been reset to generic
