[PATCH v2 4/4] drm/virtio: move virtio_gpu_mem_entry initialization to new function
Introduce new virtio_gpu_object_shmem_init() helper function which will create the virtio_gpu_mem_entry array, containing the backing storage information for the host. For the most path this just moves code from virtio_gpu_object_attach(). [PATCH] drm/virtio: drop quirks handling
These days dma ops can be overridden per device, and the virtio core uses that to handle the dma quirks transparently for the rest of the kernel. So we can drop the virtio_has_dma_quirk() checks, just use the dma api unconditionally and depend on the virtio core having setup dma_ops as needed. [PATCH v4 11/12] drm/virtio: switch from ttm to gem shmem helpers
virtio-gpu basically needs a sg_table for the bo, to tell the host where the backing pages for the object are. So the gem shmem helpers are a perfect fit. Some drm_gem_object_funcs need thin wrappers to update the host state, but otherwise the helpers handle everything just fine. Once the fencing was sorted the switch was surprisingly easy and for the most part just removing the ttm code. v4:

[PATCH v2 0/2] virtio: modernize DMA quirks
Use generic names for the quirks to make it clear it is not just about the IOMMU, it's about DMA access in general. changes from v1: added patch 2 Michael S. The comment above vring_use_dma_api() suggests that's not yet done. If that's wrong then I think updating the comment would be really good. -Daniel > uses that to handle the dma quirks transparently

[PATCH v2 2/2] virtio: virtio_has_iommu_quirk -> virtio_has_dma_quirk
Now that the corresponding feature bit has been renamed, rename the quirk too - it's about special ways to do DMA, not necessarily about the IOMMU. Signed-off-by: Michael S. [PATCH 4/9] drm/virtio: Call the right shmem helpers
drm_gem_shmem_get_sg_table is meant to implement obj->funcs->get_sg_table, for prime exporting. The one we want is drm_gem_shmem_get_pages_sgt, which also handles imported dma-buf, not just native objects. v2: Rebase, this stuff moved around in commit 2f2aa13724d56829d910b2fa8e80c502d388f106 Author: Gerd Hoffmann <kraxel at redhat.com> Date: Fri Feb 7 08:46:38 2020 +0100

Move virtio_gpu_notify() to higher-level functions for virtio_gpu_cmd_create_resource(), virtio_gpu_cmd_resource_create_3d() and virtio_gpu_cmd_resource_attach_backing(). virtio_gpu_object_create() will batch commands and notify only once when creating a resource. [PATCH 1/2] drm/virtio: fence: pass plain pointer
Since commit "9fdd90c0f4 drm/virtio: add virtio_gpu_alloc_fence()" fences are not allocated any more by virtio_gpu_fence_emit(). So there is no need to pass down a reference to the fence pointer, a plain pointer is enough now. Convert virtio_gpu_fence_emit() and callers.
