[CSL #301925] centosplus kernel xfs patches and CVE-2006-1855
Hi All, we've run into a problem with the xfs component in the centosplus kernel (2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp) where synchronous writes sometimes fail with EAGAIN. It's causing headaches for DB2 installs and for our database research group. There is a fix reported at: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-xfs&m=110808122904352&w=2 ...that's supposed to take care of

XFS Issues
We are in the process of migrating XFS filesystems from one storage array to another. Both are arrays are mounted locally on the same CentOS 4.4 system (x86_64). We are running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp along with kernel-module-xfs-2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp-0.1-3. The issue we are having is that while the copy is running (using rsync) the system will log these message periodically: kernel: XFS:

XFS for CentOS 2.6.9-42.0.8 [ was: issue - no keyboard after reboot]
Okay, so far so good - and many thanks to all who jumped in on this one. Now, we would like to look into making some changes in XFS, but I didn't see a SRPM for the kernel-module-xfs for 42.0.8 - the most recent one is for 42.0.3. Is this usable, or is there somewhere (else?) I can get the SRPM for the 42.0.8 XFS? Thanks. > -----Original Message----- > From: centos-bounces at

xfs and centosplus kernel
I read that XFS has problems with 4K Stack size for Linux on 32-bit systems. How did we address this in the centosplus kernel? Since what release of CentOS was this problem resolved? Is there a quick way to know what size the Linux stack is configured to be in a system's that's running? Thanks for your help. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

CentOS 5 - base kernel vs. centosplus for XFS
I notice that the same versions of kmod-xfs and xfsprogs etc. are in both the extras and centosplus repositories for centos5. Is there any particular reason to use the centosplus kernel if what I'm primarily interested in is XFS filesystem support? I presume that if I am using the plus kernel, then I must use the plus versions of kmod-xfs etc., but I'm wondering whether I need the plus

Dependency failures when updating
I am trying to update a centos box with an unsupported kernel (for XFS support): [root at snowybunting /]# uname -a Linux snowybunting.homelinux.net 2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp #1 SMP Sat Mar 18 16:22:41 CST 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux To update I did: yum update python-sqlite yum clean all yum update yum yum clean all yum update ..and I get the following > 91 packages excluded

Missing latest kmod-xfs and kmod-drbd82?
Since December there have been several kernel updates to the centosplus repository for centos4... but no updates to kmod-xfs or kmod-drbd82. Latest kernel is 2.6.9-78.0.13.plus.c4, but latest kmod-xfs is 2.6.9_78.0.5.plus.c4. Latest drbd82 kmod is also for 78.0.5. I know there was a mention on the list that these modules are not kernel dependent anymore... but yum and rpm seem to indicate

Can't find repository for centosplus
While trying to get my SD card reader to work with CentOS, it was recommended to me that I update to the centosplus kernel. I attempted to do so using yum, as was recommended, but I encountered the following error: [root at localhost ~]# yum --enablerepo=centosplus update kernel Repository update already added, not adding again Error getting repository data for centosplus, repository not

CentOSPlus kernel - Request for input
OK, I am building the new CentOSPlus kernel for i386/x86_64. It is based on the 2.6.9-42.EL kernel that will be part of CentOS-4.4. Currently it has all the features of the older plus kernels and all the items turned on by the upstream provider in their main kernel ... except that XFS is being removed from this kernel (and added by a standalone module that has newer sgi code for xfs). I am not

Small correction in CentOSPlus (AdditionalResources/Repositories/CentOSPlus)
Hi, Small correction there. Example 4 of section 2 (how to use XFS with CentOSPlus kernel) says you should use this configuration line in [centosplus] section of yum: includepkgs=kernel* xfs* dmapi* However, the XFS module's package name is kmod-xfs*, so I believe it should actually be: includepkgs=kernel* kmod-xfs* xfs* dmapi* I did this on a system of mine, and in the first case it did

CentOSPlus Perl Upgrade
Hey All, I'm trying to upgrade to perl 5.8.8 via CentOSPlus, but am having no luck. Here is what I have done. # yum list | grep perl . . . perl.i386 3:5.8.5-12.1 installed . . . Created /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo with: #additional packages that extend functionality of existing packages [centosplus] name=CentOS-$releasever - Plus

CentOS 2.6.9-42.0.8 issue - no keyboard after reboot
I did this twice now, although the first couple of builds seemed to work ok, they just weren't configured quite right. On my third and fourth builds of the 42.0.8 kernel rpm, when booting, kudzu came up and ran, but the keyboard was somehow not recognized and I had to reboot using the mouse on the login screen (no text appears no matter what I type). I'm using the rpm build strategy from

centosplus kernel
Just for the record, we are currently working with someone from SGI to get a much better implementation of XFS working with the centosplus kernel. I want to wait to push the centosplus unsupported kernel (2.6.9-22) until we have this new and much more stable version of XFS code implemented. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Can't get XFS enabled on Centos 5.0
I anm trying to enable XFS with no success. I followed the instructions provided in http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus I installed the new kernel. Example: 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus I also installed these packages as described in a post I found yum install --enablerepo=centosplus xfsprogs xfsprogs-devel lsmod shows nothing about XFS I would image there are others out there

CESA-2005:808 Important CentOS 4 i386 kernel - security update (CENTOSPLUS only)
CentOS Errata and Security Advisory 2005:808 https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2005-808.html This update is for the CENTOSPLUS repository only. We were waiting to roll in new code for the xfs file system from SGI, but that code is not yet ready. This release of the CENTOSPLUS kernel has the 2.6.9-22.0.1.EL code from upstream and is built like the previous CENTOSPLUS kernels with all the same

XFS and CentOS 4.3
Hi All, after looking around for info on XFS(the filesystem) and its use on CentOS and/or RHEL 4. There seems to be a lot of noise about 4K Stacks (especially on linux-xfs at oss.sgi.com). So what is the best way to get XFS working with CentOS 4.3 ? And not have something like this happening. A quote from the xfs list at sgi >On Tue, 18 Jul 2006 at 10:29am, Andrew Elwell wrote >

XFS on CentOS
Hi all, Does anybody know why unlike so many Linux distros (Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE) CentOS does not come with XFS support by default but rather requires custom modifications after the install in order for you to be able to support XFS on your CentOS machine? Just seems a little odd given how much CentOS is oriented to be used as a server OS. Thanks. Boris.
