system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed
fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and
since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it
as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor.
That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver
wasn't available for it, I

CentOS 5 dual head doesn't work
I just bit the bullet and installed CentOS 5 on my work desktop, and
although I have two monitors and a card that supports them, I cannot
get the display configuration to work with both as a continuous
(spanning) desktop. I have tried using the correct (autodetected)
monitor type (digital and analog), a generic LCD with 1280x1024,
nothing works. Every time I set the configuration, the X server

/etc/X11/xorg.conf question
If I use "system-config-display" or "system-config-display --reconfig"
although I get a message that I need to log out of GNOME, to have the
new file written, for new Display Resolution, logging out or
restarting the box does not result in the new settings for the Display
taking hold. Sometimes, the number of colors is updated, but *never*
the Resolution. Below is my xorg.conf

Widescreen monitor won't configure to a wide screen
I just put a 1680x1050 LCD monitor on my home system, and I went into
system-config-display to configure it as such, and it just won't take.
I had to tweak some of the settings by hand, but when I log out, I get
the wide screen for both the Nvidia driver splash screen and the login
screen.
But, when I log in, It jumps back to 1280x1024 and refuses to run in
wide screen mode.

Super Pro 9.4 / USAF question
Hi all!
I tried to install and run Jane's USAF and Super Pro 9.4 with no luck. The game installs fine, but I cannot make it work under Linux (P-IV 2.5 + 1Gb RAM + NVidia 440Go (64Mb) with Ubuntu 9.10 + Wine 1.1.35 + NVidia 96.43.13). The game runs fine in this very same computer under Windows XP, and my computer exceeds by far the game's requirements.
The original program (Jane's USAF)

xorg display problems
Hi all,
Up until today everything has been fine with CentOS on my Toshiba laptop.
I booted into CentOS 4.3 today and Kudzu detected my video card for some
reason. I let it configure it (wish I hadn't now).
I can still get in. X and Gnome work. But the video resolution is
800x640. The LCD is capable of 1024x768. I cannot change it using
Gnome tools or direct editing of

"nv" driver lock up where new version
I have had my "nv" driver lock up a number of times.
I downloaded the "nvidia" drivers and they did not work at 1920x1080
resolution.
I am looking for an updated driver for just "nv".
I found some once for a different driver that you just update commonXXX and
yourdriverXXX not the whole X recompile.
Where can I find those drivers?
THanks,
Jerry

4.4 on Dell D620: widescreenresolution?
Hi,
Did anyone manage to get 4.4 working on a Dell D620 laptop? The thing
has a 1440x900 LCD screen, but I don't get X the work with that
resolution. (lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03))
Google suggested to use '915resolution', which I installed
(915resolution-0.5.2-1.el4.rf), but that doesn't help.
Regards,

Yes. You need to have your signaling _exact_ when dealing with LCDs.
Some are very good at taking the timings of VESA standards. But some
support some eccentric Windows timings that are _not_ the exact same
as VESA. Or maybe you have configured your monitor for

XORG and LCD Projector
dear guys,
I have a problem between my CentOS 5.5 (on Axioo notebook) and LCD
Projector. When I connect my notebook to LCD Projector, it can detect my
notebook.
But when I press Fn + F7 to activate dual monitor between my notebook and
LCD Projector it goes to blank screen. FYI, the LCD Projector is NEC but I
don't know the series.
I've tried to change display using dual head monitor but

GTA San Andreas Issue
I trying play GTA San Andreas and it is returning " Cannot find 800x600x32 video mode". I worried so my wine Games pointed for a Working Directory that register a dosdevice instead of drive_c. Thereby I'm getting" /home/normal/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas" path and "win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x177f6dc,0x00000000), stub!"

ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY & IBM Thinkpad R40
Does anyone have any experience with the combination of a Thinkpad R40
and the ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LY video chip? I''ve had CentOS 4.1, 4.2,
and now 4.3 running just great with 1024x768 resolution, but according
the IBM specs, this chip is capable of 1280x1024.
A quick lspci -v | grep ATI spewed the following:

x-server with 2screens blanks while starting wine
Hi!
I just setup my ati radeon 9500 with fglrxconfig from the ati 3.7 drivers on a 2.6 kernel. I use primary a monitor and configured the x config file to use the tv as a second monitor which uses a different driver (graphic device section) due to different resolutions. All works pretty perfect, except for wine. No matter what i start in wine, my primary monitor blanks out while the tv keeps on

Setting Resolution Modes in xorg.conf
I asked on the Gentoo forums, and surprisingly haven't gotten an answer.
When I run xrandr, I get this output:
Code:
Screen 0: minimum 2960 x 1050, current 2960 x 1050, maximum 2960 x 1050
default connected 2960x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm
2960x1050 50.0*
I'm using TwinView with a 1680x1050 monitor and a 1280x1024 monitor. And I want to set up some different modes in xrandr. When

CentOS 7 + GUI as KVM guest: fix screen resolution
Hi,
I'd like to run CentOS 7 in a KVM guest (host is my Slackware64 14.1
workstation). The main purpose of this installation will be to build
custom RPM packages. I've made a few tests, and everything works more or
less as expected. I'd like to resolve a small problem that's nagging me
though.
When I install a GUI, I usually start by installing a minimal system,
then I add some

More CentOS5 nVidia fun
In the vein of the "Can't get resolution higher than 1280x1024" and
"Another CentOS 5 oddity..." threads, I just installed CentOS5 w/Xen
kernel on a Sony VAIO desktop with an nVidia NV5M64 (RIVA TNT2 64 Pro)
card, using an old Samsung SyncMaster 700NF monitor.
system-config-display chose the highest possible resolution for the
monitor and Xorg did its best to drive it, but

Centos 5.7, I10 video, 1920x1080 monitor
I have a Centos 5.7 machine with Intel I10 video (built-in, I guess -- this is
one of those all-in-one mini terminal things) that I'm trying to put a new
1920x1080 monitor onto, without conspicuous success. Prior to this it's been
using a smaller monitor with no issues.
Try as I might I can't get the new monitor to run at its 1920x1080 resolution.
I just realized that I forgot to

Size of x11 device
I've fairly recently changed my Linux desktop, and now use a XFree86
server. The default X11() window is rather small: it is supposed to be
7" x 7". However,
1) It is actually just over 5" x 5" and
2) 7" x 7" would be rather small on a 21" screen.
The reason for 1) is that DisplayWidthMM give 542mm, when it is really
close to 400mm (and the correct
