[PATCH] x86/vmware: Do not trace vmware_sched_clock()
From: Steven Rostedt (VMware) <rostedt at goodmis.org>
When running function tracing on a Linux guest running on VMware
Workstation, the guest would crash. This is due to tracing of the
sched_clock internal call of the VMware vmware_sched_clock(), which
causes an infinite recursion within the tracing code (clock calls must
not be traced).
Make vmware_sched_clock() not traced by ftrace.

[RESEND PATCH 3/3] x86/vmware: Add paravirt sched clock
Set pv_time_ops.sched_clock to vmware_sched_clock(). It is simplified
version of native_sched_clock() without ring buffer of mult/shift/offset
triplets and preempt toggling.
Since VMware hypervisor provides constant tsc we can use constant
mult/shift/offset triplet calculated at boot time.
no-vmw-sched-clock kernel parameter is added to disable the paravirt
sched clock.

You are not switching back. The parameter is used to disable the paravirt
sched clock.

Please do not describe WHAT the patch does, describe why. Describe the
problem you are solving. I can see from the patch

that you set pv_time_ops.sched_clock to vmware_sched_clock().

[PATCH AUTOSEL for 4.14 095/100] x86/mm/kmmio: Fix mmiotrace for page unaligned addresses
From: Karol Herbst <kherbst at redhat.com>
[ Upstream commit 6d60ce384d1d5ca32b595244db4077a419acc687 ]
If something calls ioremap() with an address not aligned to PAGE_SIZE, the
returned address might be not aligned as well. This led to a probe
registered on exactly the returned address, but the entire page was armed
for mmiotracing.
On calling iounmap() the address passed to

[PATCH 2/5] x86/vmware: Remove vmware_sched_clock_setup()
Move cyc2ns setup logic to separate function.
This separation will allow to use cyc2ns mult/shift pair
not only for the sched_clock but also for other clocks
such as steal_clock.

[PATCH 0/5] x86/vmware: Steal time accounting support
Hello,
This patchset introduces steal time accounting support for
the VMware guest. The idea and implementation of guest
steal time support is similar to KVM ones and it is based
on steal clock. The steal clock is a per CPU structure in
a shared memory between hypervisor and guest, initialized
by each CPU through hypercall. Steal clock is got updated
by the hypervisor and read by the guest.

[RESEND PATCH 1/3] x86/vmware: Use tsc_khz value for calibrate_cpu()
After aa297292d708, there are separate native calibrations for cpu_khz and
tsc_khz. The code sets x86_platform.calibrate_cpu to native_calibrate_cpu()
which looks in cpuid leaf 0x16 or msrs for the cpu frequency. Since we keep
the tsc_khz constant (even after vmotion), the cpu_khz and tsc_khz may
start diverging.
tsc_init() now does
cpu_khz = x86_platform.calibrate_cpu();
tsc_khz =

[PATCH] x86/paravirt: Do not trace _paravirt_ident_*() functions
I just spent half a day bisecting function tracing because I tripped
over this again. I thought this was merged, but I guess it was missed
again.
Can someone please pull this in. And mark it for stable, it goes
probably as far back as 2.6.32.
Thanks!
