COM: port problems
Unfortunately, almost all the Windows programs I want to run under
Wine need to access the COM: ports, and I cannot get any of them to run.
Typically, I get stuff like this ...

Sharp ZQ-290s sync software
Hi,
Since Sharps communication protocols are "top secret", I'm trying to
port their sync software to linux.
I'm new to wine, so this might be silly, but after hours of googling and
searching for solutions I'm posting this.
After installing DCOM98.exe, the Desktop software installed, and it
runs. Only problem is it doesn't detect the device connected to the
serial port

WG: Re: Wine and the serial port [LONG]
Hi, I applied your patch and recompiled, but I'm still having trouble. In
what follows I've tried to describe some details.
The first problem was this: The Comm-Port gets opened with overlapped I/O.
However, for WaitCommEvent() we do not specify an overlapped structure. This
works fine on NT4 / W2K, but is contrary to the documentation, which
specifys that you need to supply an

wine serial support
Hi,
I use wine to run a terminal emulator (NetTerm).
It connects to a Linux Server (it was meant to run from windows) that runs a commerce software.
This Linux commerce software sends the terminal emulator escape codes to interface with a
"ticket" printer attached to a serial port.
The reason to go thru all this problem is that the printer has a proprietary, closed source driver

Serial Errors
Hi,
I am new to wine and the list. I am using Wine release 20010112
on a RH7.1 (used supplied RPM) to try and run a program to control a video
switcher that doesn't have a linux ported program.
The program starts OK but when it scans the com1 to diagnose the switcher,
it reports a bad serial port or faulty connection. The utility has
no problem under windows. I included a trace using

Wine and the serial port
I have an application that talks to hardware via the serial port.
(Actually, it talks to a lot of hardware, banking peripherals). The app
runs on both Win32 and OS/2.
Of course, the main theme is porting the thing natively to linux (and I'm
working on that). But just for fun I tried to get it to work with WINE, and
while the "device emulation" works perfectly (much to my

Problems with serial comm
Hi!
I'm new to this list as well to Wine, so please excuse me if I'm asking a FAQ.
Today I installed wine-20011108, especially to be able to run programs I need
for my work.
One of them is a remote front panel to the measuring instrument, which
communicates with it using a modem connection.
This program cannot establish a connection. It accesses the modem, its LEDs
blink, but no

It is some time that I using AirMail3 with wine.
I have the latest version of Wine but after I configure the Ports from
ttyR0 to ttyR7 and running AirMail3 this application is not able to
comunicate using the equivalent COM1 .... COM4 ports.
I'm not sure if Wine is converting correctly ttyR0 to COM1 and so forth.
The result is that for the Hurricane season I can NOT use E-Mail under

Windows XP and Samba
We have a local network with Samba 2.0.3 on SuSE-Linux and some
Windows 95 and Windows 98 clients. All works fine.
Now we have got a new Windows XP computer, and we found no way
to connect to the Samba server from that computer.
1. The network card works. I can ping the server, and it replies.
2. The Samba server as well as the Windows XP computer are shown
in the network neighbourhood.

Using an additional modem to get CallerID information
There are two stages in the process of getting callerID information from a
standard modem, to be used in Asterisk. The first stage is actually
capturing the information from the modem, the second stage is importing the
captured data into Asterisk.
Capturing the caller ID details from the modem
I will presume at this stage, that you have a modem that supports caller ID
and it is installed and
