[PATCH] x86/vmware: Skip lapic calibration on VMware.
In virtualized environment the APIC timer calibration could go wrong when the host is overcommitted or the guest is running nested, this would result in the APIC timers operating at an incorrect frequency. Since VMware supports a mechanism to retrieve the local APIC frequency we can ask the hypervisor for it and skip this APIC calibration loop. Signed-off-by: Renat Valiullin <rvaliullin at

[PATCH V2 4/4] x86: correctly detect hypervisor
We try to handle the hypervisor compatibility mode by detecting hypervisor through a specific order. This is not robust, since hypervisors may implement each others features. This patch tries to handle this situation by always choosing the last one in the CPUID leaves. This is done by letting .detect() returns a priority instead of true/false and just re-using the CPUID leaf where the signature

Hi everyone! I''ve installed new Ruby 1.9.1 from sources (http://www.ruby-lang.org/en/), then "gem install rails", everything was ok during installation, all tests ("make test") were ok too. After all, i wanted to create my new RoR project, but I could not start it. Plz help me Here is my terminal: [renat@localhost rails]$ rails mysite create create

[PATCH] x86/vmware: Read tsc_khz only once - at boot time
Re-factor the vmware platform setup code to query the hypervisor for tsc frequency only once during boot. Since the VMware hypervisor guarantees constant TSC, calibrate_tsc now uses the saved value. [RFC, PATCH 22/24] i386 Consolidate redundant timer code
Isolate some of the non-VMI timer related changes in Linux. This patch moves the cyc_2_ns conversion code into a common location, eliminating redundant code in hpet and tsc timer implementations, and introduces some macros that may be redefined by the sub-architecture to avoid dependence on APIC routing, CMOS time sync, and testing for broken time hardware (which presumably, does not happen in a

[PATCH 2/6] x86: Update vmware.c to use the common VMW_PORT macros
Updated the VMWARE_PORT macro to use the new VMW_PORT macro. Doing this instead of replacing all existing instances of VMWARE_PORT to minimize code change. [PATCH 1/5] Skip timer works.patch
Add a way to disable the timer IRQ routing check via a boot option. The VMI timer code uses this to avoid triggering the pester Mingo code, which probes for some very unusual and broken motherboard routings. It fires 100% of the time when using a paravirtual delay mechanism instead of using a realtime delay, since there is no elapsed real time, and the 4 timer IRQs have not yet been delivered.

[RESEND PATCH 3/3] x86/vmware: Add paravirt sched clock
Set pv_time_ops.sched_clock to vmware_sched_clock(). It is simplified version of native_sched_clock() without ring buffer of mult/shift/offset triplets and preempt toggling. Since VMware hypervisor provides constant tsc we can use constant mult/shift/offset triplet calculated at boot time. no-vmw-sched-clock kernel parameter is added to disable the paravirt sched clock. [RESEND PATCH 1/3] x86/vmware: Use tsc_khz value for calibrate_cpu()
After aa297292d708, there are separate native calibrations for cpu_khz and tsc_khz. The code sets x86_platform.calibrate_cpu to native_calibrate_cpu() which looks in cpuid leaf 0x16 or msrs for the cpu frequency. Since we keep the tsc_khz constant (even after vmotion), the cpu_khz and tsc_khz may start diverging. tsc_init() now does cpu_khz = x86_platform.calibrate_cpu(); tsc_khz =
