[PATCH 04/10] x86/paravirt: use a single ops structure
Instead of using six globally visible paravirt ops structures combine them in a single structure, keeping the original structures as sub-structures. This avoids the need to assemble struct paravirt_patch_template at runtime on the stack each time apply_paravirt() is being called (i.e. when loading a module). [PATCH v4 5/5] x86, kvm: support vcpu preempted check
This is to fix some lock holder preemption issues. Some other locks implementation do a spin loop before acquiring the lock itself. Currently kernel has an interface of bool vcpu_is_preempted(int cpu). It takes the cpu as parameter and return true if the cpu is preempted. Then kernel can break the spin loops upon on the retval of vcpu_is_preempted. As kernel has used this interface, So lets

[PATCH RFC] paravirt: cleanup lazy mode handling
Currently, the set_lazy_mode pv_op is overloaded with 5 functions: 1. enter lazy cpu mode 2. leave lazy cpu mode 3. enter lazy mmu mode 4. leave lazy mmu mode 5. flush pending batched operations This complicates each paravirt backend, since it needs to deal with all the possible state transitions, handling flushing, etc. In particular, flushing is quite distinct from the other 4 functions,

[PATCH RFC v3 1/6] x86/paravirt: Add pv_idle_ops to paravirt ops
From: Quan Xu <quan.xu0 at gmail.com> So far, pv_idle_ops.poll is the only ops for pv_idle. .poll is called in idle path which will poll for a while before we enter the real idle state. In virtualization, idle path includes several heavy operations includes timer access(LAPIC timer or TSC deadline timer) which will hurt performance especially for latency intensive workload like message
