unix-filenames do not translate
Hello list,
I have problems displaying certain UNIX-files in samba.
For example if I have a file named like this:
ABNAHMELEHRE??????,PP272140019???,*,??,?,Z,?000,IBK,Y414019253751.model
or
BAUTEIL ,A21133321?2202,*, , ,Z, 000,IBK,F633302719552.model
samba shows dos-like names as follow:
Abnah~2s.mod
and
Baute~1m.mod
Is there any way in telling samba to display

deleting symlinks only
hello list,
is it possible to delete a symlinked directory over a samba-share, without deleting
it's content but leaving the link-target as it is and deleting the
symlink only? If I interpret samba's behaviour correctly, on deletion samba does not
recognize the link as a link but as a directory, descends into it and deletes the
content recursively, finally tries to delete the directory

winbind trouble
hello list!
I am using a self compiled samba release 2.2.5 now since the end of
august. It is running with winbind and acl (xfs) options enabled for
about 4 months generally without problems. Usermapping against a W2K ADS is
working perfectly well: Ownerships and ACLs of files and directories created
by users can well be seen on output of ls -l and getfacl.
BUT:
typing "wbinfo -u" and

Panic: file smtp-client-connection.c: line 1142 (smtp_client_connection_established)
I'm using dovecot in a multi server setup. Two directors forward pop3, imap and smtp to backend dovecots with their central storage on NFS.
Yesterday I stumbled upon these log lines:

Riello Vision VST 1100 + NetMan 204 network card
Hi,
I'm looking for a small 230V Line Interactive Pure Sine Wave UPS with
NUT support via network.
It looks like the VST1100 has a communication slot for an optional
NetMan 204 network card, but I couldn't figure out if that would be
compatible with NUT.
What I need is being able to monitor the UPS in Home Assistant (which
uses NUT AFAIK) plus being able to automatically shut down a

possible bug leading to lmtp crashes
I have been using Samba 4 kerberos and ldap with dovecot. Samba 4
changed a while back (resulting in me asking for help) which requires
kerberos auth for ldap lookups. My setup worked perfectly before hand.
Before and after were with dovecot-2.0.11 and the after also happens
with 2.0.11.
The only changes were (in my ldap.conf for dovecot -- changes are new

Riello Vision VST 1100 + NetMan 204 network card
I've contacted Riello and they told me that the NetMan 204 is the new
version of the Netman Plus 102 and is indeed compatible with NUT.
I don't know how to update the Hardware compatibility list page, but the
204 should be added to the compatible ones.

Problems with GSSAPI and LDAP
Hello,
I have a Dovecot 2.2.25 set up with OpenLDAP back end. I was trying to
set up a GSSAPI Kerberos authentication with the LDAP server but with
little success. Seems no matter what I try I end up with the following
error message:
dovecot: auth: Error: LDAP: binding failed (dn
(imap/host.example.com at EXAMPLE.COM)): Local error, SASL(-1): generic
failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified GSS

Getting image size based on header
Hi,
is there any library or gem to get image size (in pixels) based on
image headers. Image headers should contains bytes that describe image
size, which is different for different formats - jpg, png, gif
etc.
This size does not need to be same as actual size of image and this
vulnerabily can be used for attacks:
