Syslinux Digest, Vol 92, Issue 25
Sorry Gene, I got the version of binutils is 2.17. I download the latest Binutils to make the *objdump* and *objcopy*. with both of these utilities to create new pxelinux.raw. then, the error message shows me that, objcopy -O binary pxelinux.elf pxelinux.raw ../lzo/prepcore pxelinux.raw pxelinux.bin ../lzo/prepcore: pxelinux.raw: output too big (30165, max 0) make[1]: *** [pxelinux.bin] Error 1

All, Thanks for all your help. Now, I can compile the latest source code base on RedHat 5.5 after update nasm(to 2.09) and binutil(2.17). And *make spotless* before *make* under core/ directory. But with the new pxelinux.0, the PXEClient can not bootup. The error info, No valid file system found! And stuck in there. I think maybe the gcc cause the problem. My gcc version is 4.1.2. Syslinux 3.86 released; Syslinux 4.00 now in beta test
Syslinux 3.86 is out; it is a bug fix release. Syslinux 4.00, starting with Syslinux 4.00-pre38, is now officially in beta test. Special thanks to Intel Corporation, my current employer, for their support for my Syslinux work. Changes in 3.86: * chain.c32: fix chainloading the MBR of a hard disk (broken in 3.85). * mboot.c32: report the boot loader name in the information structure. *

failed when boot the kernel image on the harddisk from syslinux on a floppy
Thanks for responses. I use GRUB as my bootloader in my hard disk now. I have a Windows in sda1, Ubuntu in sda3. If I want to install extlinux to boot Ubuntu, should I follow the steps below? 1. in Ubuntu, go to extlinux folder, run command ./extlinux --install /boot 2. create an extlinux.conf in/boot 3. cd ../mbr 4. cat mbr.bin > /dev/sda (or use dd if=mbr.bin of=/dev/sda bs=404 count=1)

Thank you. Can I find any BIOS interrupt to wait on packet arrival NIC interrupt that can be used in COM32 program? And, how do I extend pxelinux.0 that enables this feature in PXE UDP RECEIVE INTERRUPT? Is gPXE has such kind of interrupt? Now available for testing: lwIP for PXELINUX
Eric Biederman has taken the work I did almost two years ago to port lwIP to Syslinux, and actually gotten it to the point where it is integrated into the filesystem stack and *working*. As such, I have pushed out a new branch "lwip" to the git repository, for testing purposes, and I have made a 4.10-pre1 prerelease which includes this code. I don't think it is ready for prime time

Embedding com32 modules and ldlinux.sys into one file
Hi, Tal, could you answer to 2 questions: - what is amount of ROM you're intending to use? (actually 8 MB SPI or parallel NOR flash chip can contain some minimalist Linux distribution) - which chip do you plan to flash to, motherboard BIOS or option ROM? Also, ROMOS comes without a license, so you'll have to contact the author for commercial usage. On other hand, ROMDSK is GPLed, and you

SYSLINUX 3.80 released
3.80 is a bug fix and internal restructuring release. In particular, the entire shuffler subsystem has been rewritten largely from scratch, as has the Multiboot module. Changes in 3.80: * New shuffler mechanism and API. * Rewritten mboot.c32 module. * The syslinux_boot_linux() function has been simplified. * Don't hang trying to boot a "menu
