pxelinux failing to boot kernel
Hoping to find some help debugging an issue I'm having.
I have 3 machines that are PXE booting Ubuntu. This morning they were
running 17.04 and I decided to upgrade them to 17.10. All 3 machines use
the same motherboard with onboard intel nic. After the upgrade, I made the
necessary changes to the pxelinux.cfg file to add the new kernel. Now only
2 of the 3 machines boot. The other machine

pxelinux.0 not fully booting in EFI 64 mode...not requesting ldlinux.e64 via TFTP...
All,
I was excited to hear about EFI boot support in pxelinux >= 6.00. So I
tried it. Not working. I've tried 6.02 (from source), 6.02 (from RPM),
early 6.03 (from RPM) and even pulled/compiled latest source from git.
6.0.3-pre7. No love.
My boot client can boot/image fine in legacy PXE mode. My dhcpd.conf
looks like this:
# In initial DHCP DISCOVER packet, PXE client sets option

pxelinux.0 not fully booting in EFI 64 mode...not requesting ldlinux.e64 via TFTP...
Spike,
There are multiple binaries that come with syslinux. I would highly recommend that you start with the official syslinux pre-built's of pre-7 on kernel.org. You will find inside an syslinux.efi in a 64 bit folder and one in an 32 bit folder.
These are the files that you need to point your clients to for efi booting. pxelinux.0 is for bios booting only.

[pxelinux] fix for Realtek PXE implementation
I found (and fixed) a problem with my realtek onboard 8139 controller.
dhcpd server sends filename "pxelinux.0" but realtek requests
"pxelinux.0\377"
(i.e. the octal character 377 is appended), resulting in a file not found
during
the tftpd phase.
I fixed this by adding a mapping to tftpd:
# strip ending garbage from filenames (Realtek PXE bug)
r ^([[:graph:]]*)(.+)$ \1

EFI PXE Server - pxelinux.0 equivalent?
Hi all - I'm not sure if it's appropriate to ask this here, but I
don't see this question explicitly answered anywhere.
Is there an EFI version of "pxelinux.0" that will function basically
the same way and read the same pxelinux.cfg/default menu files?
I've got a really dodgy grubx64.efi EFI PXE menu up at work, but it
can't load the 1.2 gigabyte LiveCD that we use

gigabit networks and kernel loads
I have been using pxelinux with Intel 850 1.7 Ghz P4 motherboards using
10/100 ethernet switches for about a year in a multichannel visual
generation system. We are shifting to SuperMicro P4SAA 2.8 Ghz P4
motherboards with onboard gigabit ethernet and gigabit ethernet
switches. Put are hung up because the diskless slave nodes will not load
the (Linux) kernel from the master 2.8 Ghz computer.

I can't say I've ever seen a monitor that didn't interpolate the very
low output sizes.

pxelinux problem
Hi. I'm hoping that someone on this list can help me with my
problem. I've been looking on my own for a question for the past few
hours at least, so hopefully this isn't just a FAQ.
Anyhow, my problem is simple (to describe). The NIC's boot agent gets
an IP address (verified with dhcpd), gets the pxelinux boot image and
correct configuration file (verified with tftpd), and then

Help with PXE "Out of Memory" error?
Hello all! I have a server at work that we're using for PXE OS
installation and LiveCD loading. It's based on CentOS 7.3, and CentOS
comes with Syslinux version 4.05.
We've been having this issue, very rarely, with some systems that refuse to
load a LiveCD from the menu, claiming they're "out of memory" when we know
that is absolutely not the case; there's plenty

I want to see things, I'm not sure how quiet would work.
Maybe next time I get the box I can re-put in the older working card
and try to do a firmware upgrade.
This does not seem distro specific. All versions of grub and syslinux
do not work in the default configs.
I will try using menu.c32 vs vesamenu.c32 as well. To see if it won't display.

tftpd-hpa: the tftpdir is ignored if --secure isn't used
If I omit --secure from the tftpd-hpa command line, I then need to e.g.
`tftp -c get /var/lib/tftpboot/vmlinuz` instead of plain /vmlinuz, even
though I pass /var/lib/tftpboot as the tftp dir in the tftpd-hpa command
line.
That essentially means that I'm exporting my whole /, which is clearly
something I don't want to do. I basically want tftpd-hpa to serve files
from /var/lib/tftpboot

PXE vmlinuz kernel doesn't recognize memory in Intel NUC?
Hello all! I'm hoping someone can help. I'm having 2 issues; first:
When trying to load a CentOS LiveCD via PXE on an Intel NUC (NUC6CAY), I
get:
"Not enough memory to load specified image". The image is 1.1 gigs, and
there is 16 gigs of memory in the NUC.
To combat this, I found this forum post

Windows pre-requisites for login with winbind?
Hi!
Indeed!, this sounds like good advice... there are certainly bugs, I had to get the 7.04.5 package from "proposed" to get resolve a PAM library issue!... although I suppose that's a packaging problem.
What is the best way to get an updated Samba package here, I'm trying to make this system reproduceable, I have a single script that builds the entire container, and sets up

pxelinux takes too long trying all the config file options
Hi All,
I have a situation where I want to netboot and ONLY use pxelinux.cfg/default.
It seems to take FOREVER for pxelinux to try all of the config file
file options before falling through to default .... trying each
possible combination multiple times ... increasing the wait time
everytime it doesn't get a response.

Anyone ever gotten Solaris to install from a CentOS PXE server?
I'm poking through Solaris documentation trying to figure out how to make
it installable via our PXE server and, as with many things Solaris, I'm
hitting walls of completely foreign procedures and setups.
Has anyone managed to do this before? I'm trying to set Solaris 11.3 up.

pxelinux and syslinux configuration files
Am I wrong to believe that pxelinux can't use syslinux configurtion
files as is?
I have a syslinux/isolinux setup that works fine in those environments,
lets me boot a root file system based on different criteria.
However, when I moved it over to pxelinux, i'm able to have it get an ip
address over dhcp, fetch pxelinux.0 over tftp and seemingly fetch
'default' from

advice wrt pxelinux & tftpd & dhcp
Ive got a mucho-kludgo (but working) setup where;
pxe-client boots an os-du-jour in runlevel 2,
rc.2 runs a test-script that ends in a reboot,
meanwhile, on tftp-server host,
a script watches the syslog, notes the arrival of an RRQ message for a
kernel,
and runs a program to rewrite the pxelinux.cfg/default file so that
it causes a different kernel to boot the next time.
This setup lets me

Using PXELINUX with Windows 2000 DHCP and TFTP
I noticed some links and suggestions on the SYSLINUX web site that
reference how to run TFTP on Windows 2000 Server. Two of them suggest
installing RIS, and one of them points to a third-party utility. I
don't need to install RIS, because I don't want to run Windows setup
over PXE. (In fact, I want to use PXELINUX to boot a DOS floppy and run
Symantec Ghost to deploy an image.) Also, I
