syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
Hello Gene, thanks for your reply. Yes BIOS mode. The config wants a menu, which loads fine under ext4 and not under btrfs. Under btrfs I have also tried to remove the syslinux.cfg file altogether (which should trigger the boot: prompt if I am not mistaken) and the result is the same: only the copyright line appears and no prompt. The three letter sequence is EDD. The disk is 160GB, here is the

Booting Linux from Windows
Hello, because of Windows' hibernation bug I want to boot Linux using the Windows boot manager. I followed this guide: http://syslinux.zytor.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_BCD but unfortunately only "Boot error" is shown when I try to boot Linux. Layout of the disk looks like this: /dev/sda1 * 0+ 16- 17- 131072 83 Linux (Linux boot partition) /dev/sda2 16+

1.6.4.1 - active client evicted

However, we had this weird incident where an active client (it was copying 4GB files and running ls at the time) got evicted by the MDS and all OST''s. After a while logs indicate that it did recover the connection

syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
Hello syslinux list, I have installed Arch over a btrfs-formatted dos/MBR primary partition* (no btrfs subvolumes, just installing everything including /boot in the root of the btrfs). I have been unsuccessful for several days trying to get it to boot with syslinux (6.02-8 package from Arch, also tried 4.07-1 Arch package). All I am getting is the copyright header line and a blinking cursor

LVM related bug in the GPL PV drivers for Windows?
Dear Xen users! In case you were struggling with recent version of th gplpv drivers, I''ve possibly found an LVM related bug in it, and reported to James Harper. Thats''s the point: I''ve tested the mentioned version of your driver on top of 32bit xen-3.2.1 32bit xen-3.3.0 and 64bit xen xen-3.3.0 hypervisors, dom0 was always an appropriate version of a 32bit PAE kernel,

Using RJS to call custom JavaScript class/method
The announcement for RoR 1.1 shows some nice examples of RJS calls. In particular I am interested in this one: # Call the custom JavaScript class/method AddressBook.cancel() page.address_book.cancel In trying to develop a "lightbox" style modal form, I have been successful in saving the form data via AJAX but I can''t seem to close the "lightbox". [PATCH 00/79] fs: new accessors for inode->i_ctime
I've been working on a patchset to change how the inode->i_ctime is accessed in order to give us conditional, high-res timestamps for the ctime and mtime. struct timespec64 has unused bits in it that we can use to implement this. In order to do that however, we need to wrap all accesses of inode->i_ctime to ensure that bits used as flags are appropriately handled. This patchset first

syslinux and btrfs-formatted dos/MBR partition
For the MBR: I usually don't touch the Microsoft MBR and chainload Linux from the Microsoft bootloader. However while trying to get my btrfs setup to work, I backed up the Microsoft MBR (dd if=/dev/sda bs=440 count=1 of=MBRbackup.bin) and I installed the syslinux MBR. I tried several ways: - with the script provided by Arch: syslinux-install_update -i -a -m - manual method with mbr.bin (first

Mounting an external USB drive
With Centos 5.5, my external USB drive appears to self mount in that the icon appears on the desktop and when I double click on it, the files are there. However, I recall that I need to make an entry in the fstab as well as some other changes. When I do a # /sbin/fdisk -l I learn that the device is /dev/sda1 and the system is HPFS/NTFS I am not sure what to enter into the file system
