Extlinux & PXE Booting...
Thank you Paul for your suggestion. While implementing it, I found my
error. As usual, it was an oversight of something already documented.
When using MEMDISK for < 4MB images, {gpxe, ipxe}.usb files for example,
you have to APPEND harddisk.
Once that option was in place, I am now back to Syslinux perfection.
I have to confess, this area of SA is some of the most fun, as it is a

Boot iPXE from syslinux/isolinux
Hello everybody,
iPXE builds an ISO image by default. (The build system has to be updated for
new paths and to integrate ldlinux.c32, but that's not my problem.)
With the binary syslinux files from kernel.org booting fails with
latest version 6.02:
Loading ipxe.krn... ok
Booting kernel failed: Invalid argument
It does work with version 6.01, though. Any hints how to fix this regression?

Mapping CIFS/Samba problem
All,
The Windows 2000 client is on my side of the firewall (the error message is: "remote computer is not available"), the Windows XP client is on the other side of the firewall, (the error message is: "The specified network name is no longer available"). I am able to ping both the IP address and server name of the CIFS/Samba server. I cannot perform the mapping, via Map

[PATCH 0/2] improve Lua API for files and initramfs objects
From: Paul Emmerich <p.emmerich at first-colo.net>
Hi,
the new API for initramfs and files in master lacked the ability to build
initramfs objects from files loaded via HTTP/TFTP in Lua. The documentation
indicated that it should be possible (and I believe I did that in an older
version). I implemented a few new functions to handle files/initramfs
objects better.

that does work, yes. It just looked like a file object should have a some way
to get the contents. I'm actually not using it in our scripts.

specifying 'root' for mboot.c32/syslinux
I'm currently trying to integrate ReactOS's bootloader into my concept
bootdisk with standard layout. It uses Syslinux 4.10pre15.
This is failing on two parts:
1) bootsector method only works if specifying huge cluster size (16KB)
2) Multiboot method fails due to opening bootloader's configuration file
from harddisk instead of bootdisk.

Confusion on lpxelinux vs. gpxelinux vs. ipxe vs gpxe.

A fork is a fork, regardless the reasons behind it (yes, I have some
understanding in this case). iPXE is based off of forking further
development as of a certain gPXE commit with some backporting of gPXE
development to iPXE.

Remove gpxe or replace with ipxe?
The gPXE in the Syslinux tree is ridiculously old. We could either
replace it with iPXE or just drop it, giving people a recipe for how to
integrate with iPXE themselves.
What do people think?

[PATCH v2 0/3] hvmloader: Make ROM dependencies optional
This patch set mainly allows the user to build a seabios or rombios only
version of hvmloader.
In addition, when building a seabios only hvmloader, Option ROMs like
vgabios and etherboot are no longer required, and therefore can be disabled
from the build. Dependency on the bcc compiler can also be avoided the
same way.

package does not provide for requirements

Confusion on lpxelinux vs. gpxelinux vs. ipxe vs gpxe.
Hi All,
I've been trying to understand how to use pxechn.c32 to chain a local
pxelinux menu item to a remote server which has it's own pxelinux hierarchy
served via TFTP and HTTP.
We have no control over DHCP next-server and filename fields so I wanted to
exploit the "prefix" -p option that pxechn.c32 accepts.
I spent a long time hitting my head against a brick wall until I
