RE: DHCP option 93 for UEFI
Ady, There are at least 3 ways to set up your DHCP server to differentiate between std DHCP, BIOS PXE and UEFI PXE. Option 93 (arch) is one way. In ISC syntax, here's 3 ways: 1. Match on VCI class "pxe-clients" { match if substring (option vendor-class-identifier, 0, 9) = "PXEClient"; set vendor-string = substring ( option vendor-class-identifier, 0, 9);

[RFC, PATCH] core/pxe: Add architecture-specific discovery request for PXE config file
Currently, the TFTP configuration file discovery process will request a set of files based on the UUID, MAC address, lease IP address and eventually fall back to "default": /mybootdir/pxelinux.cfg/b8945908-d6a6-41a9-611d-74a6ab80b83d /mybootdir/pxelinux.cfg/01-88-99-aa-bb-cc-dd /mybootdir/pxelinux.cfg/C000025B [...] /mybootdir/pxelinux.cfg/C /mybootdir/pxelinux.cfg/default

How to disable dhcpv6-client on Centos 8
Machine is an internal server with zero need to provide or receive ip addresses using dhcp (all IPs are hard coded). Question: how do I disable dhcpv6-client on this box? DHCP option 93 for UEFI
This is slightly off-topic for the Syslinux mailing list, but I think it is still pertinent and it might be helpful anyway. I am confused about some conflicting information regarding DHCP option 93, Architecture Type. The UEFI specification v.2.4 Errata B, Table 179, "PXE Tag Definitions for EFI", makes reference to a table in:

Disable DHCPv6 on Cent7
So, I'm seeing a bunch of DHCPv6 traffic coming from my CentOS7 machines. Basically, the machines are trying to send router solicitations, the packets are blocked at their egress firewalls, and I get to see the logs. I don't wish to disable IPv6. I don't wish to statically configure IPv6 at this time. I wish to have the machines no longer attempting to send router solicitations as

Now with firewalld, opening up ports is now 'better' done by opening services. DHCPv6 is really unusual. IPv6 addressing and routing is set up almost entirely in the kernel, unless you're using static addresses. IPv6 is neither harder

Windows 10 does not register dns in samba 4.3.4
Are your running more domains on this samba server, this is the primary domain? tplk.loc ? The settings below looks good, you can try setting ipv4 preffered over ipv6 ( or disable ipv6) You can try also it with a fixed primary dns suffix. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786695(v=ws.10).aspx 1.Open the Network Connections folder and view available connections. 2.Right-click the

Hi, I work for SUN Microsystems and I have a customer running samba 2.05a under solaris 2.6. SMB status gives: route did not create the semaphore failed to initialise share modes Cant initialise shared memory - exiting Daemon is still running Did a test parm - this seems to indicate configuration is OK. DHCPv6 prefix delegation
Is there an DHCPv6 client in CentOS that supports prefix delegation correctly? The old version of dhclient can't set a requested prefix delegation length, so isn't very useful, and I can't get the even-older wide-dhcpv6 from EPEL to work. -- Chris Adams <linux at cmadams.net>

Folders with ~ (tilde) slow to save
running Version 3.6.23-14.el6_6 I'm having slow save times with folders names ~something.. ie. /www/~bin/content.txt. doing this via a windows share.. when I save file it has a moment (few seconds) of hesitation.. then saves. When I do /www/bin/content.txt. the file saves instantly. Is there anywhere I can change a setting to fix this? or is this a bug. I've looked in the logs
